Oily Skin Cleanser....and problems

Okay so first let me give you the details before I dive in...

Current Cleanser: Philosophy Clear Days Ahead

Exfoliate: First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

My Issues: The pads burn my face, not horrible but it is annoying. I am not breaking out from them or anything, though they do make the area around my nose and mouth a little red...not sure why?

So I am wondering if it is a combo of the two causing the burning or what?

Also how long should I wait between cleansing and exfoliating?

Also could someone recommend other cleansers and/or exfoliating methods I could try?

Agree... you don't need to use those pads every day. 3-4 a week is enough.

You might be overdoing it with the exfoliating pads.

Ditch the foaming cleanser. Try Fresh Soy or Burt's Bees Radiance

Move pads to every other night.

Cleanser: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for Oily skin

Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap

Toner: Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 (the only problem with this one is its smell is especially strong--smell alcohol, but if you're good with it, then go for it)

Clinique - Clarifying Lotion 3

Moisturizer: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (this is the BOMB, my skin absorbs it instantly and it hydrates and controls oil at the same time so well)

I would try replacing one product at a time. That way you can figure out which one is irritating your skin most, and so you don't freak out your skin by changing your whole system.

I use Kate Somerville Daily Detox Cleanser, and her Toner.

I would start out exfoliating once per week until you've been doing it regularly for a while. I use Kate Somerville Exfolikate Acne. The most you should ever exfoliate is twice per week.

I definitely second the Boscia detox cleanser, I am using it right now and its great for anything from acne to clogged pores. Also another one you might want to try is the Fresh soy cleanser which i once got a sample of it and it was supper gentle but still got my skin really clean. I would suggest not using a sacyilic acid face wash because that is probably what is causing your face to burn when paired with the glycolic acid in the FAB radiance pads. Hope this helps!

I do use it when I use my Clarisonic but I'm thinking I'm going to get the purifying cleanser to use with it. The black cleanser works fine, but what you don't get when using with the Clarisonic is the warming effect. When you use it with just your hands, the cleanser warms up and it feels really good! Dunno if that's supposed to help open up your pores to clear them out or something?

Is the Boscia okay to use with a Clearsonic? I've been thinking of purchasing the Clearsonic for a while as well as the Black cleanser, but I heard it didn't work too well with the Clearsonic?

If it is burning your skin, you are probably using too many chemicals. I would recommend choosing only one acne/oil control product and everything else should just be natural/sensitive skin. This really worked for me and I have loved everything from Boscia. I'm currently using the black line and love it, but definitely going to try others as well. Exfoliating every couple days should be good, don't do it everyday, it's too much (I use a Clarisonic).

The best thing I have ever used in my life is by a brand called Boscia, I would use the clear complexion line, it has natural salicylic acid in it. http://www.sephora.com/clear-complexion-cleanser-P199612?skuId=1227909

They also make a black mask, that is amazing!

I think I may look into switching to salicylic acid exfoliator instead of these pads. I will also look at the reviews for the Soap&Glory one. Is there a cleanser you have come across that you like? I am still testing my current one but I am unsure if I want to stick with it or not.

Yes I would switch to an exfoliator with salicylic acid. I have oily skin and I am super sensitive to glycolic acid. So I understand where you are coming from. This one looks good, http://www.sephora.com/greatest-scrub-of-all-facial-exfoliator-P294747?skuId=1368901 . I haven't tried it personally but the ingredients seem good, and I know the brand is good.

I am actually only using the pads every other day, but they still burn.

I want the cleanser to have salicylic acid because I have problems with blackheads and pores, do you think switching to an exfoliate with salicylic acid would be better?

Re: Oily Skin Cleanser....and problems

The first aid pads have lactic and glycolic acid in them, and you are using clear days ahead which has salicylic acid in it. That is a lot of different chemicals all at once, especially if you have sensitive skin, which you might have. I personally would switch to pads that have only salicylic acid, or use the First aid radiance pads maybe only every other day.
