Best Moisturizer and primer for very oily skin

Hi, I have very oily skin.
I currently use clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel (I've tried the murad oil control mattifier, Mac oil control lotion)
Sephora 'tricks of the trade' anti shine primer
Bare essentials bare mineral Matte foundation (I've tried Mac studio fix fluid spf 15)
and the tarte smooth operator micronized clay finishing powder

Even though these products are oil free and should help my skin stay matte. THEY DO NOT HELP AT ALL

I wanted to ask you guys what you use if you have oily skin.
I am open to suggestions to moisturizer, primer, foundation and if needed finishing power. I am also open to the idea of liquid foundation. I was just under the impression that liquid foundation will cause your skin to become more oily

Please help! Its summer and my face is soo oily I can fry samosas on it!! :smileysad:

Hi, newbie1212.  I have very oily skin, too.  The best way to help control oiliness is to use an oil-controlling primer.  Honestly, you’ll be amazed at how it'll make all the difference in the world in how your foundation goes on smoother, looks more even and how it helps it to last all day.  The best oil-controlling foundation primers that I have ever used to stop my oiliness from breaking through are the following two.  By the way, both are equally as good in quality but they do vary in price:

1) Make Up For Ever All Mat Foundation Primer is an oil-free foundation primer designed to remove shine with long lasting results.  Mattifying powders absorb any excess sebum (oil) and prepares your skin to help your makeup stay looking fresh all day. The silicone gel base, with its cotton-soft texture, leaves your skin matte and velvety.  It is recommended for normal to oily skin.  It is non-greasy, oil-free and you can find it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P169809&categoryId=B70

2) Givenchy Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer
is a soft, mattifying, powder-gel skin primer that can be used alone or under makeup to make your skin velvety smooth. The lightweight fluid softens and moisturizes with silicone gum extracts; and plant extracts work to control sebum (oil) production, which provides a long-lasting matte effect that remains light enough to still let your skin breathe.  It contains subtle light-blue pearlescent shimmers that counteract a dull look and minimize the appearance of large pores, leaving your skin looking bright, glowing and healthy.  You can find it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P231022&categoryId=B70

A fantastic foundation for oily skin is Make Up For Ever All Mat + Mattifying Foundation.  It’s a shine controlling, oil-free, water-resistant, complete coverage liquid foundation that hides imperfections, evens out skin tone, and mattifies with a non-oily, perfectly powdered finish.  The result is flawless and lasts for hours.  Although this foundation provides full coverage, the end result is completely adjustable to fit your needs (a little goes a long way).  You can find it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P177117&categoryId=B70

You can use Make Up For Ever’s “Foundation Shade Finder” tool to help you choose the correct shade to match your skin tone.  You can access it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=MAKE%20UP%20FOR%20EVER&contentId=C19212

Also, I would recommend setting your foundation with Urban Decay’s De-Slick Mattifying Powder which is a colorless, shine-controlling powder that comes in a handy mirrored compact so you can carry it with you for touchups throughout the day.  You can find it at:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P210592&categoryId=B70.  The little puff that comes in the compact is great for touchups, but I’d recommend applying the powder with a big fluffy powder brush when first setting your foundation to give your face a nice air-brushed finish.  Here’s an example of the type of brush I’m referring to:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P183725&categoryId=B70.  A little tip I learned is to keep the little piece of plastic that comes between the puff and the powder so that you’ll have a barrier between the two so the oils that come off your skin onto the puff won’t sink into the powder—it helps the powder stay clean and fresh.

Hope this helps!
Have a great day!

I had a total hysterectomy and the hormones have made my face an oil slick!!   So, I have the exact same problem but, I have found the solution!!!!

Believe it or not!  Estee Lauder!

My mother gets those sample packages at the AAFES on the military base cheap!   So, anyway long story short.

If you just want the make up and primer you start with; Matte Perfecting Primer and for the Make UP you have several choices; Double Wear Light (which is what I'm wearing right now for summer) it's a little bit lighter.  But it stays put all day. they also have Double Wear Stay In Place Make Up (which I'll get some in the fall).  I didn't like the concealer but they have one.  They have a Double Wear Stay In Place Powder Make UP ( I haven't tried but I will)  then there is the Double Wear Mineral Rich Loose Powder Make Up;  I'm on the fence on this one.  I really like my Mally Powder.    When my powder in my purse runs out I'll be getting the Double Matte Oil Control Pressed Powder.

Now, the best stuff is before the primer put on Clear Difference Advanced Oil-Control Hydrator and then DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15---then the primer and then make up, etc.

It can be an expensive plan but, I was lucky as she got me a sample set and the make-up in the set was full size!!  And the primer only takes a smidge!  So I have only bought the Clear Difference and the DayWear Lotion.  But let me tell you; it's made a HUGE difference!  I've noticed the more I use them; the less oil my skin produces.

The web site is very user friendly and be sure to go and see the web video on how to apply their makeup and face powder as it really helps to control the oil the way they show you how to lay the powder on your skin.

Go to the Estee Lauder web site and find the How to Videos and you'll find them and lots more.

Sorry to run on and on but I NEVER  go to all of the trouble of responding to these beauty advice things; but this time I really had to as I had to tell everybody how wonderful this line really is and how happy I am that I found something that really works.

So, I hope this helps.  Go to E-Bay and Estee Lauder too and start getting your oil under control too.

Best of luck,
