Hope it's okay to post something like this. Just heard Dick Clark passed away today. Happy for him, he's surely in heaven, free of all ailments. Sad for me. Some people you never actually know can have such an effect of you. So sad![]()

Oh my Stars - Really? I just posted this and saw they bleeped the first name of the person I just mentioned. I wish there was a way that 'censoring' could be done dependent on context. Guess you can't have it all.
So, I'm guessing 'Richard' Clark will have to do, don't know if that was his real name.

I saw this on the news last night. It is sad, but we all know he is in a better place. I thought it was so sweet how he always kissed his wife to ring in the New Year on his New Year's Special.
I know what you mean about people you don't know having an effect on you. I bawled when Dale Sr. died in his wreck in 2001. It comes as shock because we think legends cannot die. Unlike some of the drivers of today, he raced because he purely loved and enjoyed it. I'm sure no one will have as big of an impact on rock and roll culture like Clark did for his time.

kimmi1115 - I really enjoyed him on American Bandstand when I was little, and on The 20.000 Pyramid (think it was 20k back then) even enjoyed the reruns of 'Pyramid' when they ran from time to time, good fun.
I agree with you, I LOVED New Years Eve with him "Mr" Clark and his wife, always loved when they kissed, so sweet. I really cried this year when they showed it, I even surprised myselt. I heard they were high school sweethearts. Wow. To be that lucky. I don't think they make them like that anymore.
**They bleeped out his first name again so that's why he's "Mr"
I know I'm appreciating my loved ones a little more tonight.

I know that this is long, hope you all will read it though, sorry so morose.
Well, here goes number 2, Levon Helm. Don't know who's familiar with him, he was with The Band. They had a huge album in the late 60's( I think) called 'Music From Big Pink" because it was recorded here in Upstate NY in a pink house. When I was a teen I became familiar with them because I was in a group called Young Life and one of the many things we did was sing, these songs were before my time but this is how I was Thankfully introduced to them. "The Weight" was a biggie and so was "I Shall Be Released" Maroon 5 just did a remake of I Shall Be Released, (a lot of people have) check them both out if you want to, try The Band's version first. I know it's not for everyone.
I've always loved them, they've made so many wonderful albums over the years and I'm a huge fan, always wanted to find the actual "Big Pink" house. Have just about all of their albums. Love them. Another member took his own life a number of years ago and his final song was on one of their albums. Levon Helm was ill for many years, but it never stopped him from doing his work. They've made really beautiful, haunting and fun music over the years. I'm so glad I was introduced to them when I was so young. I guess you all know what CD's I'm gonna be pulling out. Although not tonight.......soon, at some point. Give them a listen, they're different, but incredible. I'll list a few of my faves if anyone is interested, the more essential ones that really get you, let me know.
They say these things always come in 'three's' I hope not. I fear so, I think I know who it is, also somebody in the music industry. Hope I'm wrong. I'm kinda selfish, maybe I hope I'm not wrong. Sorry so Morose.
****I think the following lyrics to "I Shall Be Released" are very fitting****
I see my light come shining, from the West unto the East
Any day now, Any day now, I Shall Be Released

Gee, so sad. I remember his TV show from when I was a kid, he did so much for the rock 'n roll music genre. But he did get to live a long life doing what he really enjoyed, and that's pretty nice. Rest in Peace.
