I was just wondering what's going on with Formula X, almost all of their products are on sale. Is Sephora discontinuing their partnership or are they making way for all new products and nail polish colours? New packaging? I'm super curious so it's going to bug me till I find out
I know you're here. Lurking on BT during the wee hours of the night. Like me. So what are you watching, thinking of buying or how are you working on better sleep habits? Come on in and hang out with me while we consider counting sheep
I'm an avid lover of video games as well as being an avid lover of make up! I'm sure there are more of us out there! What are you currently playing? Currently I'm pretty obsessed with Overwatch. I played a lot of League of Legends before that, and World of Warcraft before that. I got sucked into playing ranked mode with friends and now...well For other not multi-player games, I have a pretty bad backlog...I really really want to play the new Pokemon game (Pokemon Sun for that Vulpix please) since I've played every version before the newest one. Also need to play Final Fantasy XV. It just came out and it having great reviews which surprised me since I was pretty not into XII or XIII. I hope it is as good as X and the previous ones (X being my favorite!). I'm also waiting excitedly until April/May 2017 for Persona 5. It is one of my favorite series and I even got my boyfriend hooked on the series! I probably should finish the DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition too, but it's been so long and I had to replace my video card since it couldn't even run it that I forgot what happened lol
Hey guys! I would really and truly appreciate your help! Being a sephora fan, i am currently writing about online brand communities and am investigating Beauty Talk for my final year thesis! I have two lobe piercings in both ears (for a total of 4). I want to get my cartilage (called a helix piercing) pierced and I see a lot of people only do one ear. Is it not stylish if you do it one in both ears? Would it look weird if both ears had the same number and positioning of piercings? Should I just get one side? I like symmetry but I also don't want my ears/face to look stupid.
**This is by invite only; all participants are already identified** Hey ladies!!!! It's that time of year again! Now that we've all used our Friends and Family codes and Rouge discounts, let's pass along some of our unused stuff. Last years Invite Only TSB ( http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Confessions /By-Invite-Fall-Winter-TSB/m-p/2182116/highlight/t ... ) went so well I decided it was a good idea to do it all over again! Like the Queens above, I have the rep around BT lately of having RBF/BRF! I'm turning my perceived indifference and attitude into kindness. One new caveat to this TSB: I am not keeping ANYTHING at the end of this; all the proceeds after the last trade go directly to charity. Many of you know I work with Believe in Tomorrow, a charity servicing families at Johns Hopkins whose children are receiving treatment. The Invite Only TSB last year did SO WELL that they are still stacked with stuff! This year the left over abundance will go to The Katherine Hanley Center, a charity @SuzeAlex works with. Their mission is to provide temporary housing to homeless families in the Fairfax Co, VA area. They receive services that help them formulate a plan to locate permanent house as quickly as possible. The shelter is an integral part to the county's 10 year plan to end homelessness. A couple of weeks ago I posted a question about The Canker Spanker and if anyone had tried it for oral canker sores. A couple of people suggested other remedies, but I ordered it anyway. Wow - if you suffer (if you get cankers, you know) do yourself a favor and order it. Worked SO fast I was thanking the Lord. While cankers give your lips a swollen look... buy a lip plumper instead!
Hello, I have a question that maybe you could help me with. I've been into Korean skincare and cosmetics for YEARS now and all of a sudden the US is finally catching on to how amazing these products are. I have been using a 10-12 step Korean skincare routine for a long time and have recently gotten my friends on board. My question is, are there any selling or promoting opportunities available with such products ...similar to Avon, Mary Kay, etc.? I would LOVE to get my hands on a huge bulk order of Korean skincare goodies and help promote and sell the brands. I feel I'd be very successful because of my love and passion for K-beauty! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Roxanne Mori

I regularly contact people off the local CL to barter my unwanted GWP's for new things.. I thought I'd make a thread on my experience for anyone that was interested in knowing how it goes! Hey y'all! I felt like starting a conversation about animal testing for cosmetics. I used to be a lot more active in the community here, but recently I got pretty busy in my personal life and in my career. But I wanted to come back to talk about something that no one here ever *really* talks about: Animal testing for cosmetics. The thing is, plenty of people talk about which products or brands are cruelty-free, but no one ever really addresses what actually goes on in the labs here, and why some people know there are cruelty-free options but still choose the animal-tested version because it's their HG. I totally understand finding the perfect product and not wanting to go on the hunt again, for the record. Would anyone like to join me in a dialogue about animal testing? Not just about what goes on, or what animals are tested on, or what companies do it, but how you *personally* feel about it? Do you think about it often? Does it ever cross your mind? I love my pets, and I would never want anything bad or even remotely unpleasant to happen to them, so when I think about what happens in cosmetics testing labs, well, at first I didn't know what went on. Once I found out, it disgusted me. I mean, honestly, not only do they rub chemicals into their eyes or skin, they actually administer known lethal doses, and they do really creepy-evil tests on pregnant mice and bunnies and then kill them and study the unborn babies. It's really disgusting what goes on. Anyway, anyone want to talk about this? Are you transitioning to cruelty-free only products? Do you think animal testing for cosmetics is wrong? Do you think it's wrong for an animal to suffer for us to have pretty eyelashes? Let's talk about it! Edited for typos.
I am about $270 from re-qualifying for rouge. I will have to miss 20% sale because of family reason. So now I am confused to what else to purchase, if any, to become rouge. Is it worth it for you? What is something that you really enjoyed? I live in Canada so we don't have flash. Thanks!
Hi I am just wondering if any groups exist for postal exchanges? I live in the UK and love everything beauty related. Unfortunately not everything is available for shipping to the UK on the Sephora website. I understand that works the same for many members here too. Some items in the UK are not available for purchase for USA residents. I am wondering if a group already exists where international members help purchase & post items? I have a huge list that I am lusting over but none on the list is available for purchase.
I am planning to have a revamp done for my parlour. I prefer the cabinets on the wall rather than the normal cabinet furniture. Would like to know more about them from those who have such cabinets in their parlours. Need help with the best custom cabinet makers and the type to go for (walk-in, custom, linen, reach-in) so that I can comfortably stack all the beauty productsand equipments avoiding cluttering. Any suggestions regarding lancaster cabinets and closets
I've never really shopped at Mac Cosmetics before, but Sephora I'm more comfortable. I want to know some differences if any at Mac Cosmetics. If someone who has worked or shopped there, i want your personal feedback. 1. Are customers allowed to try on their products (just to test it out) even if they don't like it afterwards? 2. Do they gladly give you a take home mini sample of a product your interested in? 3. Do they accept returns for products that have been slightly used? 4. Do they have a positive attitude when helping customers with makeup needs (help nicely and be friendly if you want to have more information) ?
I'm not sure if I'm just misunderstanding something or if there is actually something wrong? I'm trying to place an order from Too Faced and signed up for theri newsletter to get their 20% off discount. When I enter the discount for my $91 worth of products ($96.65 with tax) the discount works and says "20% off welcome offer", however only $10.40 is being taken off? 20% of 91 is $18.20 ($19.33 if it's taken off the taxed value). The discount excludes anything from their "new" page and sale items, however nothign in the order is from their new page or on sale? So, what's the issue here? The items in my cart are: born this way foundation, chocolate soleil matte bronzer, and la creme lipstick in sugar daddy (not one of the colors on sale). Thank you! **I've emailed their customer service, but never got a confirmation email back and have read really bad experiences with getting in touch with their customer service. So, not really expecting a response anytime soon.
First off I want to say that BT is one of the highlights of my day and I truly enjoy these forums. It is one of the first things I do when i turn on my computer in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed. It would be safe to say that BT is an incredibly impt part of my life. This is why I think it is impt that I share the following with all of my BT friends: Last Wednesday night, Oct 5, 2016, I woke up in the trauma ward of my local hospital. Earlier that day I had been involved in serious motor vehicle accident where my car was totaled and I had sustained multiple serious injuries. Over the course of the following 48 hours in the hospital, I subsequently had two major surgeries and a myriad of tests. It was quite something to experience, I do not want to bore you with my troubles and i am not coming here begging for sympathy. My main reason for posting this info is to simply let my friends I have made on BT know what happened, especially if I am not as vocal in the coming months. For those who are wondering, I am now in a medical rehabilitation center, having been discharged from the hospital four days ago. I am completely (temporarily) disabled on my entire left side from the chest down. (thank goodness I am a righty.) From here on I will focus on daily three hour sessions in both physical & occupational therapy focused on getting me back to be the normal and fully functioning 36 year old woman that I was up until a week ago. They say I will be here for many weeks/months. I do still plan to “lurk” on the BT boards but right now between the recent trauma. feeling quite down, and honestly just losing the will to shop, (I know, shriek!) I don’t think I would be as valuable a contributor. Sending my love to all my BT friends… I’ll be thinking about ya!
I was charged for the October Play box on the 2nd of October, but haven't received. This is is my first month, so please forgive if this is a silly question, but why is it taking so long? When do the normally bill and ship?
Are you still able to earn points after you review a sample in your box from a past month? I'm trying to review my samples but it's looking like I'm only receiving points from this month's samples? Can someone please explain this to me please?
Whether you’re a qualified make-up artist looking for clients, or just an enthusiastic beauty blogger, social media is a great platform to get noticed. It’s a crowded space though. So how can you make sure you stand out?
Create a brand
It’s important to start cultivating your brand early on. This includes the basics, like a name and profile image; but it will also help to inform your content and how it’s edited. A good place to start is by thinking about your style, or what kind of styles you like to create. Do you love creating clever, natural make-up looks? Or are killer nails your thing?
Other things to consider might be colour schemes, tone, language, and (of course) your target audience.
Find your audience
Your target audience goes hand in hand with your brand – especially if you’re trying to sell your services. It’s important to know who you’re talking to! For example, teenagers aren’t likely to be interested in your new expensive foundation; and ladies might not care much about your excellent beard trimming techniques.
Different platforms attract different audiences; and those audiences expect different kinds of content.
Target your content
For make-up and beauty, Youtube and Instagram are ideal starting points. YouTube is great for tutorials for a full face of make-up, or an intricate up do – think about 5 minutes or more, with a voice over or you explaining what you’re doing. Instagram, on the other hand, has traditionally been used for photos.
However, in 2013 Instagram introduced 15 second videos; they upgraded this to 60 second videos in early 2016. This won’t be enough for a full face tutorial, but it’s plenty of time to demonstrate a cool technique or new product. The expectations for an Instagram video are different that for longer videos on Youtube – for instance, users are less likely to turn on the sound.
Make it personal
The top reason that social media has become such a valued marketing tool is the “social” aspect. Beauty gurus who make it aren’t necessarily better at what they do than everyone else; most of the time, they’re just more interesting, or more likeable.
Take Pixiwoo, for example. They’re a sister duo of makeup artists who have a huge online following. One of the sisters, Nikki did a make-up tutorial while heavily pregnant, and Sam recently did a video with her eleven year old daughter. They’re incredibly likeable, and subscribers get an insight into their business and personal lives through following them online.
How has this contributed to their business? Well, they’ve recently filmed a documentary for the BBC, no doubt because of their easy style in front of the camera. They also have their own range of brushes, which they often use in their videos (and led me to buying a few). But despite their success, they still publish regular tutorials and keep their Twitter and Instagram up to date, which keeps their fan base hooked.
Get stuck in
More important than anything that’s gone previously is this number one tip: get started! You can add new platforms later on, and hone your brand and audience as you go. The most important part is doing. It’s recommended that brand social media accounts post every day; more for instant platforms like Twitter and Instagram.
When you’re getting started, you might worry about having limited content to work with. I recently helped my friend get kicked off on social media, and we’ve tried a smattering of content to find out what works best. This has included some cross-channel promoting (ask your Instagram followers to like you on Facebook and vice versa); asking clients to contribute using the #selfiesaturday hashtag; and posting about what’s going on in the salon. Mixing up your posts like this keeps it fresh, and helps to build your online personality. It also allows you to find out what your followers like best, and can guide your ongoing strategy.
I am currently a high school student who is trying to snag her first job at Sephora. I am currently in the process of filling out the online application. The thing is, I have no clue on who to put as a professional reference! Please help by listing some people who could vouch for me when applying to a cosmetic-related job such as Sephora!
Hi all, I want to start a post to track all upcoming advent calendars. I'm a huge advent calendars fan but a lot of the calendars i liked last year can not be shipped to the U.S. Huge bummer.
This year, I'm eyeing on the lookfantastic box, 70GBP free worldwide shipping.
