What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

Fresh tomatoes! Yum! What’s in the marinade if you don’t mind my asking @Ispend2much6?

Re: What's on your plate?

@JoSometimes  Stonehouse Olive Oil Dipping Blend.  It has olive oil, balsamic vinegar, herbs, garlic.

To be honest, I think the best marinade for this dish is olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, dried oregano, and add red onion sometimes.  I'm only using the dipping blend because it was part of a set I bought.  Red wine vinegar has the bite needed to cut the richness of the oil, in my opinion.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 ,

Yay for the garden veggies!  Do you have tomatoes ripening this time of the year?  The Summer heat turns off our tomatoes growth here.We just have green tomatoes waiting for the low 80's to grow and ripen. For me, tomatoes are the whole purpose of having a garden!  🍅  Fresh tomatoes instead of store-bought!  Heaven!

Re: What's on your plate?

@tsavorite  I didn’t know that about your area. Our cakes are on their way out because of heat, but so far tomatoes are fine.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 ,

To that, I say that you are so lucky!

We haven't had any tomatoes ripen yet.  I just read that it needs to be below 90 degrees High in the day and between 55 to 65 degrees Low at night for tomatoes to ripen.  We have a long way to go this Summer to get there.  July and August will be too hot, for sure!  We have been having triple digit daytime heat here as Highs, and the nights are too warm too.  Maybe in September we will get tomatoes.

I hope that it will be sooner.

Re: What's on your plate?

Ooohh, triple digits during the day is high!  @tsavorite

We're 80 at night and near 90 during the day, and not having a problem.  But, it will be interesting this weekend when we get several degrees higher.

Honestly this is the best year for tomatoes we've ever had.  We actually harvested some blemish-free slicing tomatoes.  That has never happened before!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 ,   I'm totally jealous of your garden tomatoes!  That's the best part of Summer!  🍅

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 This dish looks so fresh and colourful. I bet it tasted amazing!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 @Thanks it’s an old favorite.

Re: What's on your plate?

Today I made banana bread with walnuts in it. I usually put chocolate chips. I have to say I prefer it with the walnuts.I had some today while it was still warm with a little bit of ice cream 🍦😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 ,

If you had asked for a vote, and you didn't, I would vote for chocolate chips plus nuts.  The ice cream is an inspired choice!

Re: What's on your plate?

Hehe @tsavorite next time I make banana bread I am gonna do it!

Re: What's on your plate?

Wise choice, @Mellmars1185 !  😊

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185Yum!  This reminds me of cake and ice cream (and let's be honest; most quick breads are "cake" without icing!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 Hehe you are right about this bread being more of a cake. I added half the sugar because I find ripe bananas to be sweet on their own ☺️

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 Warm, fresh-baked goods combined with ice cream is one of my favourites. I’m a little jealous…

Re: What's on your plate?

@JoSometimes There is always time for desert this evening 🤔

Re: What's on your plate?

I’ve never added a side of ice cream with banana bread but I’m definitely going to give that a try @Mellmars1185. It sounds delicious. 😋 Great job on the banana bread - it looks good!

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi Thank you very much! Definitely give it a try if you can (i recommend warming up the banana bread slightly)

Re: What's on your plate?

Walnuts are sooo good,  especially in baking. That was a great idea 💡 @Mellmars1185 Now my sweet tooth says you can't go wrong with the nuts and the choclate pieces 😀 but I have a petty big sweet tooth.

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu @Mellmars1185 This reminds me of that old el-paso commercial where they can’t decide on hard or soft tacos and the little girl replies “Why not both!?”
