What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 I was so happy to see it. 🙂 They had quite a few of them too, this one sounds so yummy, I can't wait give it a try!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu  Mmmm, I love Thai food! This looks delicious! 😃😋

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you @Shosh85 😀 me too, it's sooo good!

Re: What's on your plate?

It looks good @CynthieLu !  I keep trying to perfect Asian dishes too.  I do have one book, Stir-frying to the Sky's Edge, that has some great recipes.  The fried rice was the best one I've made.  It had one surprising ingredient that made a huge difference in taste- the addition of salt!

Re: What's on your plate?

This is going to sound crazy @Ispend2much6 but from all the recipes I looked at , they called for vinegar and that wasn't in the recipe I used. So today I heated up a table spoon of vinegar and re-fried the left overs up with it. It was greatly improved! Not all the way there, but so much better ‌🙃🙃

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu ,

Vinegar is a great idea!  Your research paid off!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu  Not crazy at all.  We had an excellent Thai restaurant we used to go to, and they had the best mango and noodle stir fry.  They added lime juice to a lot of their dishes, and served wedges with them.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 ,

That's a great tip!  I love lime juice!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu Sounds about right! Sometimes a dish needs a bit of acid to balance the flavours 😊

Re: What's on your plate?

Happy New Year everyone! I made a little reel on my insta (@ coralista.meesta) to roundup all the yummy food I had in 2022🎉 It’s a shame that I can’t post the video here but here’s the first photo in the reel: smoked burrata that I had at Harvey Nichols in London (charred clementine, heritage carrots, pomegranate, pistachio vinaigrette)😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@Guessgal  Oh my goodness, I don't think I've ever eaten anything that looked that fancy! Sounds so delicious! 😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@Guessgal That sounds delicious and innovative. I have been meaning to try burrata. I bought it once and forgot to use it. Smoked burrata sounds delicious. I am guessing on its own it has a mild mozzarella flavour? The ambiance in your photo is so calming and beautiful. 🕯🥰

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 Ohhhh that is such a great question!! For the longest time, I thought burrata was just a fancier version of mozzarella bc I’d see it on the menu in fine dining restaurants. However, I just looked it up and burrata actually has a soft, stringy type of cream inside, whereas mozzarella is just the one taste/consistency throughout.

@CynthieLu @Shosh85 Haha sorry to tempt you ladies! I might be in the minority, but I’ve recently super enjoyed watching food reels or restaurant/cafe reels on Instagram even though I realize it sometimes makes me hungry… I know, what is wrong with me?? 🤣

Re: What's on your plate?

@Guessgal ooooh popping into this thread hungry was a bad idea. That looks scrumptious 🥲

Re: What's on your plate?

@Guessgal  That sounds like a great combination of ingredients!  Were you in London during the holidays?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 Yes, I was!! Speaking of which, I was strolling through Harvey Nichols and thought of you when I saw the Dolce & Gabbana displays! Your D&G makeup hauls are, of course, unforgettable 🤩 This was my first time seeing their makeup in real life and up close! I was very fascinated and it was decorated in the D&G style I was expecting
