What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? Smiley Very Happy

Re: What's on your plate?

You guys are all healthier than me, but I know you appreciate some treats! I thought I would share this easy trifle recipe with you. I made it for father's day and will be making it tomorrow for a 4th of July bbq party.

Ingredients

two 3.4 oz packages instant cheesecake flavored pudding mix
4 cups milk
Angel food cake (about 12 oz), cut into pieces
1 cup chopped strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1 cup chopped raspberries
12 oz cool whip (or homemade whipped cream)

Instructions

1. Add pudding mix and milk to a large bowl and make according to package directions.
2. Add about half of the angel food cake pieces to the trifle dish.
3. Top with about 1/2 of the prepared pudding.
4. Top pudding with about 1/2 cup of each kind of berry.
5. Top berries with about half of the cool whip.
6. Repeat steps 2-5.
7. Finish off trifle with additional berries on top.
8. Refrigerate for about 2-3 hours, until ready to serve.

I used a LOT more strawberries than it said. I recommend getting more of your favorite berries for the top. I also bought a pre-made angel food cake because I'm lazy.

Re: What's on your plate?

I did not make this, but had to share one of my favourite meals.   I don't typically do salads for meals, but this is my favourite seafood salad in San Francisco at Pier 39.

The best shrimp I have tasted.  It is delicious!

Low Carb Grain Free Bacon Cheeseburger Calzone.

Effing yumm!

Made this for the first time today. I was very skeptical about this one because of the "dough"... But, this is soooo very delish, I already think about all the other goodies I could stuff it with. Smiley Happy Definitely a keeper.

The mention of calzones brings Ben from Parks and Rec to mind...

Today for lunch I had some okroshka ( окрошка ), Russian cold soup made with raw crunchy veggies like cucumbers, radishes, green/spring onions... and some boiled eggs, potatoes, cooked meat ( optional )... Originally, it's made with kvass. I make it with yogurt, kefir or sour cream. There are a lot of versions and variations of this soup. I think everybody's doing it in their own way, with their own twist. Very refreshing during hot and humid summer days. Smiley Happy

Dinner - chicken coconut curry ( and some veggies to make it more colorful... Yeah, I have problems Smiley Very Happy ), with some white jasmine rice which is my fave, but I so rarely have it because rice bothers me in general, and I avoid it most of the time. But! I friggin love rice, so... I indulge once in a while, and then I suffer. Smiley Very Happy Well worth it, though! Smiley Tongue ( It's not as serious as my gluten intolerance, so... yeah... To heck with it! I enjoy it once in a while. )

Re: What's on your plate?

Oh my. Both of those look amazing.

Re: What's on your plate?

I read "raw crunchy veggies" as "raunchy veggies".

Re: What's on your plate?

I have been eating Turf 'n Turf for the last two days.  I blame Lylysa for it.  And Ron Swanson.

I am in my happy place.

Re: What's on your plate?

I had Turf 'n Turf for lunch....leftover beef stroganoff and lamb loin chops.

Mr. Swanson would approve.
