Does anyone own any Tom Ford Cosmetics? I've heard rave reviews, but is the price worth it? I like this blush I saw on temptalia...Its the cheek color in savage.

I haven't tried his cosmetics, but I'm in love with his Black Orchid perfume. Really unique scent!

I have tried a few Tom Ford products--an eye quad, blush, and lip gloss. I would say while all of them are the quality you would expect from a luxury brand, they are absolutely not worth the price. I remember seeing some promos that featured Tom Ford talking about the extra expense that went into the packaging, but not even the packaging (while very nice), blows me away. It's made from the same materials found in many other comparable, less expensive brands. The price just isn't justified no matter how he tries to spin it.
The only thing I can suggest is that you go to a counter and try the products for yourself (instead of online like I did). If you discover a color or texture that you love and feel is unlike anything you can find in another brand, then it may be worth the splurge. However; that has not been my experience....at all.

phew, I'm glad i'm not the only one to think that the tom ford brand is mostly overpriced.
just a note, while only a few neiman marcus locations have the whole line, I know all of the Neiman Marcus locations in the Chicagoland area have the lipsticks and fragrance. So that may be the case at your local neiman's too.
I think some reviews are extremely helpful though; temptalia and raeview are much more realistic/ have good perspective than some of the others
in any event, I'm totally buying myself a lipstick for christmas.

Hi Sephoramusthave!
I haven't tried any Tom Ford products however, I have been seeing them in a lot of magazines lately. I found a blush that is very similar and would be a dupe for the blush that she is wearing, its called Lover by Illamasqua and it is probably half the price![]()

Another dupe would be the Nars Blush in Deep Throat.

Thanks for the input everybody!! Since I have to try makeup on myself, I could never just order it online. My higher end stores arent exactly close by, but when Im in the area I would like to test out and do some swatches.
melissabt---Thanks for the dupes! I heard great things about Illamasqua but dont have the line in any of my Sephoras so I cant try it out, and I already have the NARS Deep Throat added to my wishlist but I never tried it on.
Thanks everyone!

Good luck!
I hope you get to try out Tom Ford or find a less expensive dupe!
Come to think of it, Temptalia may very well have reviewed the illamasqua and nars deep throat, so you can do a comparison! ![]()

i think its sold in the more higher end places like SAKS, Nordstrom or Neiman Marcos. But I've been seeing it in every single beauty magazine for the last few months and I want to know if the high price is due to the quality or "name brand".
jxw200--Thank you so much for telling me about your take on the brand! I dont like overpaying for something just because its a big name brand, but I dont mind paying for true quality.

It is sold online at Neiman Marcus and at a few physical locations. I believe the Neiman Marcus Dallas, TX has the makeup line. Would probably call first or use the online assistance tool before making a trip soley to try the product(s). Their other store Bergdorf Goodman carries it.
Saks has it online and has a store locator where it can be found physically.
Nordstrom does not carry the makeup line at the moment.
Since none of the locations carrying it physically are close by without a trip, been looking at the reviews mainly. So far, it might not be any better than items at a lower price point. I still want to try it though; especially some of the brushes. The makeup and fragrance lines are part of Estee Lauder.

I've never seen this line, but there are always Tom Ford products recommended in various fashion/beauty magazines. But if it's just another high priced/high hype line, then I can easily skip it, I have enough overpriced stuff that doesn't work so well!

This is one brand I am curious to try. At the moment, it is not carried physically at the Neiman Marcus nearby (Saks is no longer here as well).
Price wise, it is pretty high but if this would be something that is used frequently, it might be worth it.
Is it me or are we seeing more celebrity/designer influenced lines (not collaborations) recently?

Hey sephoramusthave! I've read a ton of reviews on Tom Ford but never took the dive. I have tested a bit of it at counters, but not much. (but while i'm out in CA there is an extensive TF counter at Neiman's in SF so I can go swatch/test things if you'd like!)
The eyeshadows seem average to me, especially considering the price. Not positive but I'd say they're in a similar grouping to Chanel & Dior, but I find both brands sometimes produce meh eyeshadows... And even if they're comparable the price is nearly $20 more!
The foundation products seem average as well. (at least in terms of price in comparison to other high end products) Potentially even too heavy for what I like... the RaeViewer and the Beauty Look Book also have extensive Tom Ford reviews.
I haven't tried the blush but I think the lipstick formula is really great! I had swatched them a number of times and they stay on my hand even after wiping/washing as a stain. I applied flamingo a few weeks ago and it wore a long time - I'd say at least 6 hrs if not 8 with eating, drinking etc. It didn't dry my lips (which are always dry) and i really liked it! At first when I applied it I was like ehh the lines on my lips are pretty obvious with this bright shade, but somehow it even smoothed out the texture of my lips! Like... before my eyes.

I own a few TF things -- I have a counter near me (Neiman Marcus, SF) so it's nice to try the line. Otherwise, it's pricey to buy sight unseen. It's pretty expensive -- $55 for blush -- but I will say that the product size is nearly twice that of other high end blushes. For instance, the TF Cheek Color shades have 8g of product; however, Chanel -- which is comparable in terms of high end brands -- costs $45, but some of the Joues Contraste shades only have 4g of product (this seems to vary; I have some with 6g and some with 4g, so it must have varied in the past). The TF lipstick is nice, but it's just as good (not better) than other brands I have tried, so I woudn't shell out $45 for lipstick unless I adored the color. I have tried the foundation, which was nice, but I don't have a shade match so it was never a temptation for me.
The blush is great, though -- Wicked is one of my favorite colors (not that there aren't semi-dupes out there, but the way it goes on, the color and the glow it leaves are all pretty fabulous). I have carried it so much that the gold coating is chipping away! ![]()

katie - good to know about the blushes! I never remember to check the amounts in a product, so that is very helpful! The counter at Neimans in SF is really nice - went to it a month or so ago! (Been working in the bay area all summer) but sometimes i'm too scared of the SAs at Neimans! lol!!

Katie I'm going to have to visit the stores and try the blushes too! I haven't tried this line yet and would really like to! I have a few friends that work as freelance artists in the Saks and Neimans downtown so I'll see if they can recommend any tips or colors! Fun!

@diana, @jxw200: Definitely check it out! I get intimidated by SAs too, sometimes, but the woman who is usually at TF is so nice...I want to say that her name is Morgan...she's really nice and helpful (and never pressures you to buy).

Katie----Thank you so much for telling me your take on the line!!! When I get a chance to go to SAKS or Neimans I really need to stop by Tom Ford! I have several very expensive blushes right now so its not something I need...but I fell in love with this color the second I saw it online! I read a comment on temptalia...someone said that NARS Blush in Torrid is *exactly* like Tom Ford Cheek Color in Savage so the next time I'm at Sephora I have to stop by NARS and try it on!

@sephoramusthave: You know I love NARS, so of course I love Torrid! It's such a pretty coral -- definitely let me know what you think!
Torrid is definitely more affordable than Savage (by half!). I wanted to try Love Lust, but I have too many similar things and I really couldn't justify buying it.
