Maltipoo Makeup Look: Gold/Black Smokey eyes

Hi everyone!  This look was particularly made for brown eyes, but looks gorgeous on green/hazel eyes too.  It's a black smokey eye with some gold highlights, and can be built up or toned down (by blending) into whatever intensity you like.  I decided to pair some peach/coral cheeks with this look (not too crazy, but still noticeable), and natural lips-who says you can't play up two features at once (as long as you don't go too crazy)?  Here's the look!

Step by step:

1. Apply an eyeshadow primer (I used UDPP).

2. Apply the shade Hustle (or a deep brown) from the Original Naked Palette all over the lid and in an arc shape above your crease-follow the shape of your brow, but applying the color about an inch below your brow.

3. Go over the Hustle shade with the shade Creep, or any shimmery grey-black shadow.  Sweep this shade under the outer 1/2 of your bottom lashline too.

3. Pat Urban Decay's Half Baked, or any bronzey gold, over the middle of the lid, and blend it with your finger to cover most of the lid.  Pat a little in the middle of the bottom lashline too, next to the black.

4. With an angle liner brush, take more Creep and apply it as eyeliner along the upper lashline, and wing it out (using eyeshadow instead of eyeliner makes it more smokey).  The wing should extend along the outer edge of the shadow, sort of like the outer boundary to your eyeshadow (see picture 2).

5. Apply more of Creep on the angle liner brush to the outer 1/2 of the lower lashline for a little more definition.

6. Apply a pale gold shadow (I used the Sephora Californian Blonde shadow) as a highlight under the brow and the inner corners.  Blend! (you may have to redefine the shape of the Creep after blending).

7. Curl your lashes, and apply tons of black mascara.

8. Optional-darken your brows to match the look.  I rarely do this, but I felt like since the shades were so dark, it would tie the look together.

Hope you like it!  Talk to you soon.

Very pretty!!!  I love how you used the black eyeshadow.  How would you adapt this for someone with deep set eyes?

Re: Maltipoo Makeup Look: Gold/Black Smokey eyes

Thanks Kimmi!  For deep set eyes, I would really concentrate and layer Creep on the lid, and keep the color in the arch of the crease softer and more blended out (since deep set eyes don't need definition in the crease).  When patting the Half Baked on the lid, I'd just pat it in the very center of the lid and not blend it out, since the lid should be as dark as possible (since on deep set eyes the lids are more pronounced).  Also, for a highlight, I would keep the shimmery pale gold in the tearduct, but for the browbone I'd go with something matte, maybe something like Urban Decay's Bootycall or Foxy-I know foxy has some yellow tones to it, so it would look nice to tie in with the gold.  Hope this helps!

I was searching youtube a little while ago and came across this gorgeous smokey eye specifically made for deep set eyes.  Maybe check it out!

Thank you so much for the tips!  Foxy comes in a single now, so I might have to look into it for another highlight shade.  I usually go with Sin or Virgin.  And, too, Foxy is the name of my boyfriend's cat lol.  I will definitely check out the video!

I like it!  Another one of your great looks, I like the way you used the dark shadow as liner on only 1/2 the lash line, it lightens up the look considerably and keeps it from straying into goth territory. This look would be great for a night out with a LBD, think I'll try it next time.
