Lottery ticket fever

At work this morning all the employees are passing around this envelope so one of them can go drive 2 hours away to purchase lotto tickets (mega millions). I think I was the only one that didn't put any money in it. Personally, I wouldn't want to win the lottery. Too much greed and spoiled lives, not to mention the bickering between family and friends. That's ok I'll pass and live contently not having to worry which charity or people I would give away my winnings to. Talk about a stress factor, then again you could have a lifetime supply of Sephora products! Do you think having a business doing the "lotto run" together is a nay or a yay? What about yourself, do you buy tickets or are you oppose to it?

I agree, it's not private here in WA. I won $1K once on a scratch and sure enough you can google my name and see it :smileysad: Imagine if it were larger, people would be coming out of the woodworks.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

Oh no! All states can't claim in private? That is horrible.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

I don't gamble but I'll buy a lottery ticket once and a while if the jackpot is big.  The revenue from the lottery in my state gets distributed to the towns plus it's cheaper than a movie and more fun than paying the property taxes the regular way.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

It is kinda fun, but I live in a town with casinos out of the whammy...so gambling gets dull and boring after awhile :smileyhappy:

Re: Lottery ticket fever

Nah, I'm a analytical/calculative/practical person and don't really like to gamble/small chance stuff. I have no problem with winning the lottery but if I do, I'm gonna collect that money and divide it up between my parents, charity, and my retirement account faster than you can blink. This way if anyone comes to me to ask for my money, I can tell them that I ain't got any money....unless they want to wait until I'm 60 yrs old and ask again.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

Good idea, and I think that is why some people don't come upfront right away in the media because they're getting it all in order. I'd be scared someone would murder me or hold me ransom. I'd def. be looking into security protection as well. lol

Re: Lottery ticket fever

I'd have to tell my BIL to skip work, I'm not signing all that stuff the lottery office hands you without a lawyer.  On the fantasy side, everyone's mortgage and student loans would get paid off and there'd be some big donations.  Maybe a new facility for the ASPCA.  I might sneak off and start my own PAC as well.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

I like your thoughts on ASPCA! Anything animal related, really. Because all us humans are tw*ts in a sense :smileytongue:

Re: Lottery ticket fever

Our local is one of the few that takes large and farm animals like horses and goats.  It's expensive to run and they always need donations.

I don't like to give away my money, but I will wait until the sum is very high & get one ticket! Lol It only takes one!

Re: Lottery ticket fever

Lol I found a dollar at the T station on my way to work on Sunday and my friend told me it was a sign to get a ticket. I'll get one later if I'm out

Re: Lottery ticket fever

My best friend and I put 50 cents each into one ticket for symbolic fun. Our plan is to get a super big mansion that has two addresses on it!

Re: Lottery ticket fever

I've never bought one, I think its a waste of money. Once I won a free scratch off and won two dollars lol.

My dad buys some scratch offs and he has pretty good luck with them, he's won $100 once.

Re: Lottery ticket fever

I will throw away a couple of dollars here and there if I happen to be in the gas station for something and the jackpot is high.
