Is It Just Me...

Or do you feel like you've missed things/ haven't logged on in forever when it's been a few days (or more) since your last login to BT?  Just curious lol.  I feel like it's been forever since I last logged in.  Perhaps that's just class (final exam on Monday), working on **bleep** boards, and the heat messing with my head lol.

I sometimes go a week or so before I log in. I feel as if I miss a lot too! I like the tips and tricks you all teach me. I also like the product recommendations, I love how everyone likes certain products and the reasons why! I feel as if this is a great community of people who love beauty products and isn't afraid to experiment!

See, I thought it was just me!  When I am super busy or have to travel, I experience "withdrawal pangs!"  It's even worse when I'm at home and my husband is on the laptop.  I feel a sense of frustration and my hands begin to practically twitch because I'm anxious for him to hurry up and get off so that I can check in.  There are times when in my own selfishness I'm convinced he's on the laptop just to torture me!  My frustration mounts when the site is too busy (ARRRGHHH!).  Then I am actually forced to check my email and do other tasks until I can finally log on.

I don't know how else to explain it but I hate to miss logging on to the Sephora site more than a day or two.  I'm fearful that I missed out on something fantastic even though I've told myself repeatedly that I'm not purchasing anything else.  Most of all I miss posting with the great people here and can't wait to get caught up on all the new products and offerings, product reviews, beauty confessions and great advice.

Re: Is It Just Me...

It is another hot one out there today. I have a picnic to attend this afternoon and I've been prolonging my make up application for the last 15 mins. I'm stalling actually. I need to figure out what I can apply that won't melt off my face in a pool of sweat in a 5 minute car ride over. With all the setting sprays and setting powders out there, I don't think it will help :smileysad:

What do you ladies wear on yoru face in this situation? My skin is not flawless enough to go bare. It is a special occasion so I don't want to go as if I'm headed toward the beach either...

So frustrating.

Re: Is It Just Me...

@Elea. well, for me at least, I discovered that concealers are pretty long lasting (as long as I dab/press off the sweat when I wipe), but when I wear them with powder and studd, when they come off, the concealer comes off with it. Since my skin is usually pretty good except for 1 or 2 giant red pimples, as long as I got concealer on those, it's ok if the rest of my make up comes off. I got some tips for camofladge or distract people, altho nothing can stop sweat since it comes from under pushing out stuff in the pores so the make up gets pushed out.

1. Do not wear bright lips. If you got redness on your face from blotchiness or pimples, when the make up comes off, this will make it more obvious. and if you are wiping off sweat and accidentally wiped off part of the lipstick, it's a bother to repair it. Stick with tinted lip balm or gloss within 1-2 shade of your lips

2. Minimal make up everywhere, but do a striking eye. Which part of your face sweats the least and gets touched the least? the eyelid. Do a simple but striking eye with some waterproof liners and mascaras so you look made up, and the color distract people from the rest of your face.

3. Wear a big hat. It's an event in the summer and since it sounds like you are going to be outside, it's only right to wear a hat. Get one of those pretty hat that's loosely woven straw or mesh so it cast a textured shadow on your face. Now no one can see the texture of your face and of course, you look polished.

Re: Is It Just Me...

In wicked heat like we've been experiencing, I haven't found anything that will truly keep makeup in place for extended periods. Use whatever setting spray and powder you have, and if you have some MUFE Face and Body Makeup, use that. It's the most water resistant type I've found, though the coverage is a bit more than I normally use (I can get away with light coverage or BB creams).

Take along some blotting sheets to dab at perspiration, stay in the shade and drink lots of cool drinks. Try not to participate in any strenuous games like sack races, badminton or that sort of thing, croquet is ok. Basically try not to get your skin perspiring in any extra way.

Good luck, and be reassured, nobody else's makeup is going to stay in place all afternoon either.

Re: Is It Just Me...

No fluctuation here.  It's been unusually warmer than normal since early spring.  About five days straight of 100+ weather.  A few of those days record breaking.  Most places in the state are putting bans on personal fireworks.  With all the miserable sequence of current events, it's a good idea.  It's too dry.  They always upset dogs anyway.  Not to mention there have been a few times I thought someone was going to take out one of my windows with them.

Desired parking spaces at the moment are the ones with shade. The car baking tends to not be friendly on makeup. It can be soft to the touch even with dry skin and feel dry at the same time in high 90s-100s.  Facial sprays are used frequently throughout the day.  At the moment, I'm sticking with sunscreen only or the Dr. Jart+ Premium BB.  I also tend to have the car A/C on the face and/or forehead.  Lots of water too.

Although I'm curious if the sun protection gear such as the gloves (seen these on tourists) actually work or end up being overheating.

Hiya guys,  I haven't been on this in a few days myself and feel like I have missed alot as well.  Have had busy weekend.  And its soooooooooooo hot.  97 F today where I'm at. I did make it out for a little bit of shopping though.  Hit my local Sephora, LUSH and went out of my way to visit an ULTA.   Didn't go crazy but picked up a few things.

@kimmi - saw your 4th of July nails, very cool.

Ehhh...even if Ive been away for awhile I find it easy to "catch up" because a lot of the "new threads" are repeats that I saw before.

Love the BT fix though!

Re: Is It Just Me...

It feels that way after any long period of time away from a hobby/interest.  I kinda feel this way about certain video games but it has changed.  Other hobbies were easier to let go cause of the costs to keep up with them.  Every once in a while, it is a good idea to take a break.

Fall makeup collections have already been released from Chanel (available to purchase online) and YSL (apparently not on either the official website or Neiman Marcus' website.  It was in the store) so far.  Two pretty Pure Chromatics palettes (love the green one) and new Chanel polishes that I may splurge if no dupes are around.  Do not need anymore makeup atm.  D:<

@makeupobsessed:  The Hall of Famer title is after a period of time, not by post/heart count.

Re: Is It Just Me...

Even after two days or so, I feel as of I have a lot of catching up to do. I hate to hover of every post but if I don't, I fall behind in posting. Who I'm keeping up with, I have no idea. I'm trying to get to hall of famer, but it's not happening.

makeupobsessed, don't worry! you will be a hall of famer! :smileyhappy: I THINK that the names are sometimes randomized. But i'm not sure :/

obviously i haven't been on these boards much lately, but i'm trying to get back into it again! I got really into my makeup blog the last couple of months, and i'm relatively happy with where it's going! (So that took up alot of my crazy makeup obsessed internet time lol. Plus not having as much leisure time)

kimmi, I feel like i miss everything! and I was just thinking about telling you something but I don't remember what it was :smileysad: ALSO i've been wanting to ask you if you've seen those Kat Von D mini palettes that were on sale. (Quads, i guess? I remember you liked the ones over holiday - i saw one called "little sinner") If I remember what I wanted to tell you, I'll tweet it to you before I forget lol!

LOLOL. Now I'm so so very curious what the **bleep** board is.

There are slow days and there are omg-everyone-posts days. I work in a lab all day so I take breaks by lurking on here 2-3 times a day. On some days there's only like 3-4 posts. On other days there's like 20 posts during the day when I wasn't checking and I was like "woah", ok, lessee....which post look familiar thus most likely to be the last post I read?

Re: Is It Just Me...

Absolutely!  I often have to travel for work and sometimes don't bring along my laptop because I'm already carrying a ton of stuff and when I get home, it seems like I've missed out on so much. New threads, new conversations, great ideas, new products, the list goes on and on. Plus I'm late hearting people's replies to my posts, that always makes me feel badly because they went to the work of writing and here I am looking thoughtless.

Good luck on your final exam and whatever making a bleep board is, and I hope it's not too hot there. It's 100 out here, thank goodness for air conditioning!

Re: Is It Just Me...

I just noticed I got bleeped.... it's supposed to say corn    hole boards lol.  Maybe the giant space will help lol.

@prettyinpa  I feel the same way when I can't get to hearting posts.  Thanks, and it's been 103 here lol.  What sucks is that there is no rain in the forecast for five days.

Here are boards for the corn     hole game.  Not sure why the forum bleeped it out lol.  These aren't mine, but the game is so much fun!
