"Matte" icure

A turn from something different for the summer for a goth nail contest lol.  It sounded different, so I decided to go for it.  I still wanted it somewhat wearable since I'm going to a neighboring town for polish and kitty birthday gift shopping lol. 

Sorry for the horrible cleanup job.  Those colors do not want to come off the skin for anything.  I used:

Sephora by OPI nail strenghner as a base coat

Essie in some sort of burgundy shade (bottom part of nail)

China Glaze in Crimson (it's supposed to be a purple black from last year's Halloween collection)

NYC Matte Me Crazy  top coat

LA Colors Nail Art Deco Polish in Black for the shiny streak

Once again, sorry for the crappy clean up job lol.  Before doing this, I had to take off the new Revlon Moon Candy polish, and it was a major pain to take off.  It stained pretty bad on my skin.

So fun....matte is nice for nails, but I think I like your sparkly creations a tad more.

I love the contrast of both colors. The little bit of shine in the middle is a great idea! Love it

This is one of my favourites so far.  I am wearing bright colours these days....but I have always been a fan of the more dark look to nails.  Awesome! Goodluck in the contest!

ooohh! I like the contrast of matte and shine finish. It just give me an idea, you know how when you peel off the stickers, you are left with a plain sticky border with a cutout of the sticker? you can do the matte topcoat, then stick the border on, and paint on a shiny imprint of the sticker shape (star, hearts, shoes, hello kitty if their sticker have the sticker sheet border) etc so you have a matte nail with a shiny hello kitty cutout or something. That would be pretty cool.

Personally I like my 2 color with a bit more contrast between them, but for some reason your nail reminds me of openings for James Bond movies (they always get these graphic colors with cutout of women, gun, bullets etc)....

lol, your horrible clean up job is pretty much my best clean up job. I can do my nails alright, but I just can't color inside the line, and I just can't get the nail color out from those little crevices on the side so the colors are pretty but the borders are as even as a "homemade" pan fried egg.

@beautytester That is a cool idea!  I wonder if it would be best to use normal stickers for that instead of nail art stickers.  I think the adhesive, even without the nail bonder, is different than normal stickers.  At least I would kind of think so.  If you give that a try, you need to post it on here! 

I hate when dark polishes get in the crevices, too.  No matter how many new Qtips I use, it's like it's super glued to my skin. 

@elizbeth1972  Thanks!  I usually wear brights, too, but last fall I got into wearing gray.  I never thought about wearing a color like that before.

@dianabt  Walmart: two dollars and some odd change lol.
