I rarely did nail art during the Fall semester. I definitely did not have any time for practicing with acrylic. I have missed both so much! It was so nice to sit down and play with acrylic and polish after working on some of my Winter class stuff. I still have a long ways to go with acrylic, but I didn't make too big of a mess lol. I still have a hard time with creating the rounded area built up at the stress point. Fitting for my index finger has always been awkward. It's just an awkward nail lol. I wish I could post my Instagram video of my hand with the untrimmed nail tips. "The Claw" went after the critters lol. I kept the nail art simple and festive. The green's formula isn't great for creating thin lines, but all that matters is that it's a Christmas green. I used: Zoya Nidhi (red on pinky) OPI An Affair in Red Square (red on middle) China Glaze Ruby Pumps (red on thumb) Zoya Ivanka (green) and two Sephora by OPI golds. I can't recall the names since they're mini bottles lol.
So the Julep maven window is open today. What are you girls choosing this month? Add-ons? Skipping? I can't decide. Some of the add-ons are already sold out. They have me as an IT Girl but I'm not sure I want/need another white polish.
Well, my Mom survived **major** back surgery this past week, and is in recovery. I flew out to take care of her during her first week. Since she is out of commission and taking major pain meds, she is not feeling too pretty or in control... so to make her feel better and beautiful, I brought a holiday nail supply kit and did her nails. She loved it so much, and now is feeling very feminine and in the holiday spirit. Funny what a little love and enamel can do! Here is her new look for the holidays:
Hello beauties and cuties! Pay close attention. Several people told me that Formula X Top Coat was a dupe for my beloved Dior Gel Coat. Being my thrifty self, I ordered a bottle of Formula X. It did not last from after dinner to nighty nite time! There is no substitute for Dior Gel Coat! Please make a note of it!
So, what is everyone's favorite polish remover? I'm looking for suggestions because my nails have been peeling like crazy, and I'm guessing my polish remover has something to do with it. It's a never ending cycle because my polish chips quickly because of the peeling, and then it gets dried out even more from the remover. Help!
I noticed in the photo of the upcoming Ariel set that the polishes are not Sephora by OPI like the first two princesses. Now it looks like all of the polishes are 1/2 price. I am really trying not to buy anything right now, especially polish, but there is at least one color that I'd like to have if they're not going to be making these any more.
Does anyone have any idea(s) how to retrain nails to grow straight? Over the past year, I've noticed that my nails tend to have 'bends' in them. Like on my left point-finger: the tip grows straight on the left side yet curls slightly and bends downward on the right side. My nail beds look healthy and there are no indications of a fungus, thankfully. I bought a glass file a few months ago thinking maybe it was improper filing, and clipped my nails back to about 1/8" - 1/4" tips. I've maintained this process for roughly 3 months and they continue to grow with bends. Sooo frustrated...
My polish collection has gotten a bit out of hand so now I've ordered some of the nail wheels so I can swatch them all to remember what each one looks like. My question is do I also put a base coat and top coat on the wheel like I would on my nails?
What is your favorite nail shape preferred length? What are you rocking right now? (include your nail color as well ) I like both square and stiletto but I prefer stilettos. I have really skinny bony fingers and stilettos make them look really feminine. I prefer my nails to be long. I am a ex-biter. I broke my 12 year habit last year and every since then I've hated short nails on me. I'm currently growing out my nails and they are squares. I want to get a little bit more length before I stiletto them. Right now they are a little bit past my fingertips and the nail polish I have on is Orly Pink Chocolate
I was in the mall yesterday and got sucked into a kiosks. They had one of those typical nail buffers but this did AMAZING things, unlike my normal 4 way buffer that I have at home. However, I'm not going to spend $50 for a buffer and cuticle cream, simply because I feel like I can recreate it. I was wondering how you beauty ladies get your nails looking shiny and smooth, preferably without the use of polishes.
Hello As a nail polish lover, im sure other BTers on here also love nail polish as much as I do. I know it might be hard to choose one out of tons that we own, but we always have a favorite in our hearts right? I am REALLY curious about everybody favorite nail polish brand / color. Don't be afraid to post a photo! --------------------------------- For me, all time favorite nail polish would be Chanel Peridot. its a duo-chrome golden - emerald color! I do not own it, but I own the perfect dupe to it! OPI - Just spotted the lizard, its a complete perfect dupe! Here a picture to prove it. Same color right? Its the best dupe ever and I love it! Nail polish is such a beautiful invention! Right?
Has anyone tried both of the polishes? My local Sephora has the MJ but not the DL. They both look like a perfect festive red. I do not wear red polish enough to justify two bottles. Any thoughts, suggestions, or swatches. Thanks for the help
So before Thanksgiving, I ordered some stuff from Ulta, and it JUST got here. Seems like so long ago! Ha. Anyway, this order included my first two Butter London colors: HRH Scouce Are all the colors this amazing? Wholly Cow...!!
I am thinking about getting an at home gel polish manicure set - it must have a curing light & the manicure to last as long as possible. I live in the country & sometimes going to the nail salon is inconvenient (it's a diff place than my hair salon). I appreciate your recommendations.
I was totally distracted by the new nail polish display at my Sephora. I have good, strong nails and I polish them now and then with a very light beigey-pink (probably meant for French manicures). I don't put too much thought into them. I started playing with the nude samples, but I couldn't figure out what the "rule" was for them. Even with the plastic tester sheets, I found it hard to figure out what color looked good. Are nude nails supposed to match your skin color, be lighter, or darker?
(Not sure if I should ask this here... Considering Sephora doesn't sell Zoya lol) I LOVE the look of the Pixie Dust polishes but I'm just wondering how difficult they are to remove? Anyone have any experience?
I saw 2 for $18 Butter London on Ulta... you better believe I picked a bunch up!! Plus they have a GWP if you spend $50+ on Butter... the GWP was two pretty colors Chancer and Fizzy Pop, plus a pencil case. AND... a Beauty bag stuffed with samples if you buy $40. Nice bonuses!!
okay please can someone tell me how to get rid of nail polish without nail polish remover? I just got this hot pink nail color on my clothes and it is all over my skin, don't even ask im a horrible nail painter. please help anyone!
I bought this during the VIB sale because the bottle is gorgeous, I like the polish color, and I wanted something Dior. But I own a huge amount of polish and I've never had something chip this badly. I put it on right before bed last night and it chipped a bit first thing this morning and now has chipped again. It's horrible! Please, if you have a suggestion let me know. I am taking this back otherwise. I do love the bottle but it is far, far too expensive for me to keep for the name and the bottle if I have no hope of wearing it. The Sephora by OPI polish I had on before this was on for 5 days with just some tip wear before I took it off because I wanted something different. I hate wearing chipped polish and in this dark color it looks terrible.
Searching for a super moisturizing hand mask (also love recs for foot masks too). I just learned that these are a thing . Currently I used things like Origins Intensive Drink Up face mask on my hands (I have severe dry skin and eczema... I'm also allergic to strong scents, mostly florals -- i.e. sometimes very light "milk and honey" or "almond" and the like scents are OK). I currently use intensive hand moisturizers from Kiehls and Aveda which are great... but they aren't the same as a mask. Sometimes they are really lubricating but not too deeply emollient/moisturizing if that makes sense... more waxy or greasy and sit on top. I can keep using face masks on my hands and feet and would love recs for ideas for those as well - but ideally coulduse some recs for products specifically FOR hands/feet. Someone mentioned Julep hand and foot (and nail) masks the come in the Trio and they are current half off ($9.99 final price) on Juleps site so I am thinking of getting some... any reviews?!
What is your favorite top coat? For the past year, I have been using either the Ulta Nail Salon Formula Top Coat or Seche Vite, but I'm not super happy with either of them. The Ulta brand lasts almost a week without chips, but it never seems to dry completely- even if I apply top coat first thing in the AM, I will wake up the next day with sheet marks on my nails. The Seche Vite dried fast and glossy, but it shrinks the polish on my nail and chips more easily (plus, it has formaldehyde, which I am not a fan of inhaling). Let me know your recommendations!!
