or Which do y'all think would be best? You can't really go by the pic's (1 of my face, or my Mani-Friday pic's) I have uploaded due to yucky lighting and a blah camera! lol I am light to medium w/ neutral skin tone. Clean red's and orange-red's give my skin a nice glow. Certain undertone/colors like (idk how to explain it) the "wrong" blue's & purples will make the area around my nail bed to appear pink or red'ish (not attractive). I have a cpl of nudes but these look cool and fast. Are these opaque you think? Thanks in advance! @RandeeBt .....do you know if these are opaque and have a color suggestion by chance?!
Hi, My nails have been peeling for a while now and I don't know why. I haven't used nail polish for about two weeks so I could give my nails a break from the chemicals in the nail polish. I also got a ultra shield base coat and just wore that, but they are still peeling. What should I do and is there anything I can do without buying anything? Thanks
Eff! I have a feeling the $50 Louboutin red nail polish will end up at my house. I don't hoard cheapie polishes so it's okay to splurge on a luxury beauty product, right? Sephora will be getting it around August 6th if I remember correctly. http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?p roductId=P388556&om_mmc=oth-tum-20140723-Louboutin
I have a huge collectiion of regular Sephora by OPI nail polish but like the shellac polish. Can I use the UV lamp on a regular polish to make it last a bit longer? I usually have a girls night on the weekend with my daughter so we do our nails almost once a week but would like to make it for a week at least without them regular polish chipping after 2 days.
I had a minor event three weeks ago when I was bitten by a dog. I'm mostly healed now and treating my scars with vitamin e and some nice creams. Now that the swelling and scabs are all subsided, I can tell the amount of trauma that my thumb cuticle suffered and I'm getting a little twist in my stomach every time I look at it. I have half my nail with a healthy cuticle and the other half is a small bb of scar tissue where I can see my nail bed. Is it possible for my cuticle to regrow or is there no chance since it is scarred?
Hey everyone! Since the "What Are You Wearing Today?" thread is so popular, I thought I would make one for nails! I love painting my nails, and I want to see what amazing nail looks everyone comes up with!
OH ME OH MY!!! I'm sooo excited about these new nail colors. A beauty blogger posted photos and I fell in love. I've never owned a NARS polish, they are expensive $21! But I can see myself picking up 5 from the website on July 15th. Is NARS a good polish, does it wear well? I'm still looking for pics with the names next the bottles, I want to have my list ready for the launch! LOL #addicted!
Just wanted to share, Today on the Zoya website you can get 3 polishes for $12 (the $12 is technically for shipping) Code is THREEDOM Good Deal, I would order some myself if I didn't already have so many polishes!
LOVE this polish! It's called SUGAR & SPICE ( and as usual the pic's don't do it justice)! (sad eye's,lol!) SO pretty and has Rose Gold ( my red) & Blue, in a bright cream white crelly! What do y'all think?
So I just found out that if you joined julep AFTER December 31 2013 you will not be able to skip your box you must "earn" a skip. You earn a skip every 6 months. However if you are like me and joined way before December 31 2013 you will not be affected and the old policy will remain for you. I'm not happy because I was going to refer some people.
Hey! I have a few nail polish in mind from Julep but I can't afford full price at the moment. Is there some good promo codes available at the moment?? Also, I heard the promo code people get from referrals only works once?! If this is the case or someone has received a bunch of them and won't use them all, send me a message ? I would love to save a bit so any promo codes / coupons would be awesome !!
Lylysa and a couple others wanted to see a swatch of this polish. I got a pedicure today and brought the polish with me to the salon. It is very pretty. All of the birthstone polishes look very similar, so I plan on collecting them all when I come off my no buy (if they are not sold out).
What's your favorite nail colour? Mine is more towards the nude colours... something that blends right in with my skin tone. Even though I have long fingers (so I've been told by piano players) - I still like nude coloured paints... I'm so embarrassed to step out of that colour region cause it draws so much attention, especially cause I'm a guy.
Anyone see this Consumer Reports study that tested 10 different polishes including a $2 one from Walgreens called Sinful Colors and the $27 one from Chanel? Of course there were eight in between. Any guesses on the results. The $2 one came out on top while the Chanel finished in last place. As a nail polish enthusiast, I wanted to pass along the news. I am going to pick one up and give it a try. That is so cheap that it is not breaking a no buy, right?
Since I'm waiting for my 2 stained nails to grow out before going back to French, I have a question. I'm wondering if it's just me. Now that I do my own nails, I've discovered COLORS, so now I MUST match my nail polish to my blouse/dress, lipstick, blush. I actually buy them in a bundle like that. I drag my outfit to the store, find match nail polish, lipstick, blush. French was so much more simple. Didn't ever worry about having it match all of the above.
So awhile back, I think right after Formula X came out, I bought the set (nail cleaner, base coat, top coat) with a light pink for the color. I was superrrrr excited to try it as I had seen it on a cast member's nails recently and she said the system made her polish last for at least a week! .....it was a disaster for me. I did all the steps, and within a day, most of the polish on every nail had PEELED off. So, I threw it in with all my other polish and kind of wrote it off. Since I didn't return it, I pulled it out more recently thinking maybe I just needed to try it again. This time, it was peeling within hours of application. So, I thought I would try to with a non-Formula X color. Same deal. What am I doing wrong? I want to love this system, because polish that lasts a week and that I don't have to go to the salon for (and, isn't terrible to remove), sounds amazing. I feel like I am the only one this isn't working for...so I have to be doing something wrong?
or can I? I'm a nurse, we are not allow to have fake nails, but we are allowed to get the gel polish. I was in a very physical male dominated field while I was in the military for over a decade...just a little background on my nail habits and didn't get my nails done regularly LOL So I've never really been into my nails, regular polish chips horribly due to having to wash my hands during my day with patients (sometimes as many as 20-25 patients per day...trauma nurse) so I wore gel nails for a while but found I didn't like being chained to the salon every 10-14days AND if the gel chipped I was just stuck until my next appointment. I also have an issue with finding time to paint my own nails (mom, wife, full time student) BLAH BLAH BLAH LOL. I saw a polish at Rite Aid and it said quick dry so I picked it up and took some me time it came out pretty good. Just don't know how much it's going to chip this week. What do ladies do to get your regular polish to last? Which polishes work best from the drugstore? I have purchased Butter London in the past but it chipped in less than a whole day. Not worth the price. So I may have a new addiction...just what I needed. LOL My quick mani today
I used to get pro mani's/pedi's because I only wanted French because it matched everything I was wearing. Then, I decided to go for colors to match clothes/lipsticks for fun, which meant I could do them myself. The way I like to paint my nails is to apply glitter or speckles only on both ring fingers. These are the only two nails that have a permanent stain. I tried the cotton ball soaked with 100% acetone wrapped in foil. Didn't help at all. My nails are too thin to buff, they've always been thin all my life. My nail tech never buffed my nails because he said they are too thin plus said I didn't need the buffing off layers to smooth the nails. Has anyone ever had this happen where only a nail that you decorate gets a permanent stain? It doesn't matter the base coat, layering with extra top coat before glitter/sparkle or even brand of polish, it still stained. I'm putting the glitter OVER 4 coats...1 base coat, 2 layers of color, 1 top coat to seal, then the glitter. Any tips/advice (besides stop doing the glitter/speckles art) to remove the stains?
Hi everyone! We don't see a lot of nail posts often so I wanted to start an interesting one! What is the ugliest nail shape you've seen? I personally think duck feet nails are the worst. They're not nice looking!! Why do people like this shape? It's awful!!
Hi Ladies! So normally when I get my nails "done", I've been getting pink and white - similar to acrylic, but it's French-style, and the salon I went to used to have colors that I could get. I really loved them, since the color never faded or chipped, but my nail salon closed. I've only ever gotten gel nails once, and I think she gave me a gel manicure and not "gel nails" - it was no good, but I'm willing to give it another try. What kind of nails do you prefer, if you get fake nails? Which do you abhor?
How to you decide which colors to use? Do you match your toes and fingers exactly? Do you coordinate them or at least keep them in the same color family? What about different finishes like cream and glitters? Do you reserve only certain colors for certain seasons? Or do you just throw caution to the wind and do whatever? What are your favorite combos for spring and summer? I'm curious to know if I'm the only weirdo who actually puts this much thought into it.
