I don't know why i have been obsessing over nail colors lately. My best friend is a triplet and their birthdays just passed so we went to get our nails done ( I was boring and got a french tip) but they went all out with the colors. So it got me thinking "Hmmm I need to stop being boring," haha so I'm thinkin about the Ciate "pool party" color whenever i get rid of my current man/pedi, what about y'all?
I'm looking for a good, long lasting, nail polish. I can't seem to keep polish on for more than a day without chipping. I prep my nails every time before painting them and there are still chips the next day. I have gel polish but I'm looking for a regular nail polish. So what are your favorite brands and colors? Thanks for the help!
So I just found out that if you joined julep AFTER December 31 2013 you will not be able to skip your box you must "earn" a skip. You earn a skip every 6 months. However if you are like me and joined way before December 31 2013 you will not be affected and the old policy will remain for you. I'm not happy because I was going to refer some people.
I'm really annoyed with the formula on most pastel nail polishes and I love pastels. They're really sheer and take four or five coats for full opacity. Does anyone know why this is? Also, can someone recommend some pastel pink and lavender nail polishes that can get full opacity in two coats? I have an Orly pastel pink I really like that reaches opacity in two coats but I don't know the color of it, It doesn't say on the label Here are some pictures of the kind of color I'm looking for.
All right lovelies, I would like some help with my pitiful nail polish collection. I have a grand total of, get this, 5 polishes. I have a cherry red, a nice bright coral, an opaque nude, and a white and sheer pinky nude I use for french manicures. I love the one Formula X polish I got a few months ago so much I'm considering replacing my other colors with Formula X replacements. (The sad thing is this is partially due to how great the shape is for storing/stacking, I'm pretty sure this is a sign of OCD). So what colors should I get? I'm thinking of getting something spring-ish. Yeah, the high for tomorrow is like 2F, but I can pretend! Show me the pretties!
What else am I to do when it is 16 degrees outside??!! Brrrr.... Butter in Disco Biscuit Sephora by OPI in What's a Tire Jack? This started out as a simple, solid mani in Disco Biscuit, and while I love the color, it was just TOO Barbie pink.
I got an email from Julep today that it's the last chance to pick up one of their Cupid's Mystery Boxes and was thinking of going for it. Have any of you gotten a Julep mystery box in the past and if so, what did you think of it?
Hi All! I have an interview next week! I get a gel manicure every 2 weeks and I need to decide what color to get for my manicure on Friday. I normally try to go as bright as possible but that's obviously not appropriate but I really don't like pale pinks or french manicures. What are other neutral suggestions? Right now I'm thinking a nude or pale gray? pale green - or not professional? Slightly darker pink? Thanks!
So I don't really like getting my nails done. I know, collective gasp, but I have the most ridiculously oversensitive feet so I never get pedicures (it's like torture to have anyone touch my feet for any reason) and I feel really awkward getting my nails done because I really just want to watch what the nail technician is doing and end up not contributing to any sort of conversation she tries to start. Which makes me feel like a big rude jerk. I also have a ton of nail polish and can do a decent job on my own so it seems a bit unnecessary. ANYWAY! So last night, for the first time in years, I went to get my nails done. My boyfriend got me a gift card a few years back and I just found it so I decided to go for it randomly. I got my very first gel manicure and I'm completely obsessed! It's SO pretty and very durable! So who else gets gel manis? Post pics, share stories, and let's have a bit of a chat about gel manis in general!
I started wearing gel polish in October and love it. I wash my hands constantly with my job so the gels have finally allowed me to wear dark colors and not worry about chipping. The problem is my nails have gotten so soft that they are tearing, even with the gel polish on. I'd hate to take a break from the gels. I was wondering if there was a gel base/top coat that cured to a harder finish. My gel top coat (Sensationail) seems very soft and flexible so it's really not protecting the nail. Any good advice or options?

hey there beautiful gals! Ive missed beautytalk a lot as I haven't been on a s much as I used too, but I'm really going to try to be on here a lot but grades come first so, I will be on here every opportunity I can! so today I wanted to talk to y'all about manicures. would you spend a costly amount on the professional nail jobs done at a salon or would you go out and buy the sets you can do at home? As I can't see myself paying such an extreme amount for something I could do at home today I'm going to go the dollar store and hopefully get a French manicure set! then I will apply them and give you ladies the feedback. So I'd like to know what's your style DIY or professional and what type of nail's do you actually like? post pics of your finger accessories! Peace and love, Londonlover101
I remember a long time ago there used to be Illamsqua polishes at SiJCP, but I guess I found at place that carried them. The last time I saw them, they were in a sales rack and on sale. Do you think there might be some sale Illas (yes I just abbreviated Illamsaqua) left? I really would like to get some new polishes after my no-buy and then send all my OPIs to the trade thread or to the friend who might want to buy my old ones.

So, the new Formula X's have been out for a few months now, and I'm sorry to say I haven't purchased a bottle yet. Before I start picking out shades, I was wondering what you thought were the best and the worst in the new collections?
I have been living on the road for the past two weeks, have another four before I get to go home. The water here where I am staying is different than the water back home and it is wrecking havoc on my cuticles. I bought a cuticle trimmer, some cocoa butter oil, some cocoa butter lotion, and a good fingernail trimmer to get my cuticles cleaned up, but still struggling. I hate cuticle pushers, I typically use a sapphire file instead because they don't hurt nearly as much. Basically my my question is around shaping my cuticles. How far back should they be pushed? I want them to be even and I can never get them even.
I'm not sure how to get my nails done for prom? I plan on getting acrylics but i don't know what color/design to have them painted, but i dont think i want to get a plain white french manicure? Any suggestions? The picture is my dress
Okay so I NEVER paint my finger nails because they always chip by the next day and it feels like so much work for nothing. I have not taken the time to find a base or top coat HG tho so maybe that's my prob. Any suggestions?? Drugstore and high end recommendations are welcome I'd really love to paint my nails more often!
