My daughter and I spent some time at Sephora today (have to train them young) and she was all over the polishes. She paints her own nails and is trying to learn designs and such. She was gaga over the Marc Jacob colors, but at almost 20 a pop I can't see buying a bunch of those. I don't wear polish on my nails due to my career. Any advice on what to invest in for her? She was looking at the ciate' advent calendar, but the reviews on that aren't great and it's 60 bucks.
I use a Sephora-brand glass nail file, but this still hasn't fixed the problem I have - my nails always split after I file them! I file them, and then within a day, they're splitting at the tips. Any tips? Thanks!!
To be fair, I am not skilled at applying nail polish, so it goes all over my toes. This is almost impossible to get off cleanly even when I dip a Q-tip in remover. However by the time I've worn the polish on my nails for an hour, loads has come off with ridiculous ease! Does anyone else have this issue, or are you all nail polish experts?
I invested in a led lamp for setting gel nails and then bought a french manicure gel set (not the same brand as the lamp) the set contained light pink gel color, white gel color for tips, a file, and a cuticle pusher....However on the package it says to use a gel cleanser to wipe off a tacky layer after setting??? But this was not included in there so that was annoying! but i decided i would use extra time under the led lamp and then just wipe them with a cloth instead of going back out and trying to find a gel cleanser. Well that worked ok, they were set enough that using a cloth didn't disturb my color but it was still kind of "tacky" like they said....Well literally 24 hours later my nails start to pucker/lift around the edges and end up peeling off!!!!! I was hesitant about trying gel in the first place and now i feel like i wasted my money. SOOOO if anyone can explain to me the gel cleanser if that is a necessity or any other thoughts on why they are peeling off so soon that would be awesome.
I decided to finally invest in a LED lamp for setting gel polishes....I found a lamp and then i also found a gel polish kit for french manicures ( not the same brand as the lamp- i figured that wouldn't matter don't all gel polishes set with LED or UV ) the kit i found contained a pink polish, a white polish for tips, a file, and a cuticle pusher....So i followed directions and scuffed up my nails a bit prior and went ahead and applied my polish and set it...it said there would be a "tacky" layer after setting which i was unaware of and it said to use a gel cleanser to wipe off that tacky layer, BUT they didn't have that included in the kit, very annoying!! So i decided i would use more time under the lamp and then try to wipe off this "tacky layer" with a cloth....well the time was sufficient enough so that wiping with a cloth didn't disrupt my color but it was still a bit tacky afterwards, well compared to how regular polish feels but not like things were sticking to the polish so it was fine....but literally 24 hours later there was puckering/lifting around the edges of my nails and from normal use of my hands they started peeling in large chunks so i ended up peeling each one off and they came off completely intact like taking off a fake press on nail....can anyone explain to me the gel cleanser and whether or not that is a necessity in the process and any other thoughts on why my gel is peeling so soon....I was hesitant to try a gel system in the first place and now i feel like i have wasted my money!
I had a minor event three weeks ago when I was bitten by a dog. I'm mostly healed now and treating my scars with vitamin e and some nice creams. Now that the swelling and scabs are all subsided, I can tell the amount of trauma that my thumb cuticle suffered and I'm getting a little twist in my stomach every time I look at it. I have half my nail with a healthy cuticle and the other half is a small bb of scar tissue where I can see my nail bed. Is it possible for my cuticle to regrow or is there no chance since it is scarred?
I know this is probably a long shot since there are no saks/nordstrom etc in the area, but I'll be in the Buffalo/Williamsville area this afternoon and was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that sold the Christian Louboutin nail color? I've picked up one in Toronto but they're always sold out and was hoping to be able to get another today!
Do u wear Nail polish every day? Do u give a break? Do u love ur nails without any polish? I just want to know how many girls/ladies are in love with nails(no makeup nails). Ok i'm not doing any survey
I placed order Yesterday for nail polishes, and within 24 hours i received my package. I stay near to Sephora warehouse( Baltimore), but generally i receive on 3rd day, and some times on 2nd day, but with in 24 hours impressed and i'm already in love with these tiny nail polishes. Post ur pics too, want to see what you got!!
I just recently saw the commercial for the Sally Hansen Miracle gel polish, and reviews are mixed. Does anyone use a gel polish w/o a light that they like? I dont necessarily expect it to last 14 days, heck...my gel mani from the salon that costs me $35 doesnt even last truly that long. I would however expect a week w/o chips under normal nail duress. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I want this colour from Julep (May 2014) so badly, but it always shows up as out of stock. It is described as a "g olden pink taffeta shimmer ". I have tried Nars's nail polish in Orgasm, but it was too peachy/orange vs pink. Does anyone know of a dupe, or suggest colours to be layered for a similar effect?
Picked up some new colors for FAll: (love these names) ESSIE -->Don't Sweater It -->FAll In Line -->The Perfect Cover up OPI -->Ice Burger and Fries -->How Great Is Your Dane? Alright, Fall, I am ready for you... Anybody else pick up any new colors in prep for Fall?
Eff! I have a feeling the $50 Louboutin red nail polish will end up at my house. I don't hoard cheapie polishes so it's okay to splurge on a luxury beauty product, right? Sephora will be getting it around August 6th if I remember correctly. http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?p roductId=P388556&om_mmc=oth-tum-20140723-Louboutin
Hey everyone! Since the "What Are You Wearing Today?" thread is so popular, I thought I would make one for nails! I love painting my nails, and I want to see what amazing nail looks everyone comes up with!
I have never had a problem growing my nails. They come in strong and they grow long. I do however have a problem with painting them. I do them myself and put a clear coat of polish on everyday, but the day after I do them, the color has started to chip. I also try to get them professionally done every now and again. As soon as I get home from having them done I put a clear coat of polish on, again though, by the morning the color has started to chip. I've tried different salons, different brands of polish and different types of clear coats. Nothing works. I've even tried the new schllac nails and after a week or so the color peels off without any soaking. I love to have my nails looking nice but I don't want to ruin my real nails with acrylics. Some one please help!
