Hi nail-polished beauties, I'm in search of nail foil glue. I've gotten a lovely set of nail foils to use. I've tried using it with regular polish but I only get patchy transfers. My experience with nail foils is VERY limited. I'd like a full nail foil transfer. Please help. I've got an event that I'd like nail foils for. Any recommendations for glue or transfer tips? Thanks darlings!
I've noticed there's a decline in the OCC nail polish area. I bought the colour "blackboard" a while back and just realized how much I like this polish (hey, I have a HUGE collection of polishes to go through!). Is Sephora phasing out OCC nail polishes? If so, is there another place that gets them?
So I dragged myself down to the post today to get a new box for a TSB and was suprised to find a little box in my locker. I wasn't aware Formula X was sending me anything because normally they contact you before they send you something. Did anyone else get this?
Hello! I rarely do my fingernails... But I love to get pedicures! Every time I go for a pedicure I try to find ideas online and it seems like Pinterest has the same photos from last year, so I thought we could find some inspiration here! If you are interested in seeing manicures, head on over to this thread: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Nails/Show-me-your -nails/td-p/1676434 The first two photos are what I just had done. The next one, with the polka dot pants... Well the photo doesn't show the detail... My nails are a simple coral color, and then I picked a super glittery coral and had polka dots added, so it was a subtle tone-on-tone look. I wish I had taken a close up! The other two are from last summer and I loved them both!! If any of you have any photos of a yellow/turquoise combo, I'd love to see that as I'd like to try that next. Thanks for sharing!!
What are some of your favorite base coats and tops coats? I generally like a strengthening base coat just to keep my nails strong and healthy. I recently finished off a Sephora by OPI one. Currently, I've been using Bridge the Ridge from Sally's Beauty Supply. I helps to fill in minor dents and ridges that can come up from time to time due to a rough glitter removal. At least that's what I use it for lol. It dries really fast and to a matte finish. I have a variety of topcoats. I use to use Seche Vite, but it can sometimes shrink polish and cause it to come off in whole pieces. Right now, I've been been using the Out The Door topcoat. I really like it! I also love my NYC Matte Me Crazy topcoat. It dries fast, and it's super durable! I was very surprised about that. I use my Cina Top Coat and bonder when I use nail art pieces, glitter or rhinestones.
So did anyone else receive in the mail this week a Formula X Infinite Ombre set? It wasn't in a regular Sephora box but a padded mailer, and there was no slip inside (I thought I bought something and forgot) Well if this is another free promo thing thank you formula x and Sephora!!!! Can't wait to try it out
Hey girls, Just wondering what your favorite nail polish company is? I absolutely adore the Essie packaging and I think the colors are so cute! The polish goes on very well for me, but I've read some reviews of how some think it is streaky. OPI has the reputation of being one of the best. But, when I used their polish the other day, the paint chipped two days later! What are some of your favorites?? xx
In the spirit of all the other wonderful challenges on BT right now, I'm starting up a nail polish challenge for us. I have a ridiculous stash and I need to show my polish some love. With nail polish, once a day would be absurd (of course), so let's try and show off a new look and polish once a week. I'm personally going with manicures only, but if you'd rather do pedicures or even both go for it! I'm eager to see your collections and meet other polish junkies. It's past time for me to commit to using my stash! Hello Beauty lovers... Its been awhile since I started a conversation here and I really need advice... Bad.. Okay, so the thing is, I have a really, really bad habit of biting my nails-- I KNOW I KNOW it can cause permanent nail damage- and I love painting my nails and I usually don't bite them until the polish is off or its chipping... But I need help- maybe some products to aid in my nail strengthening and healthy growth, or maybe some advice or encouragement saying I will outgrow it someday... I'm sure others can relate- its such a bad habit to break and I try so, so hard not to do it-- its not that I bite my nails when I'm nervous- there isn't a specific reason on why I bite them- I just do it! :-( So please- if you can recommend something for nail strengthening because my nails get so weak from my constant bad habit- and they're so short as well and always look terrible! :-( And please- no harsh comments on my nail biting habit- I am well aware that it can cause permanent nail damage- and that's why I'm asking for help, products, etc.! ;-) ~~~ Thanks so much!
As I was doing my manicure yesterday (LED gel polish), I had an idea: I would like to play around with stamps and gradients. I was able to turn up lots of great info about stamping gel polish online, so I'm pretty confident in that part of the equation. I ordered the Konad "Stone Set" and an extra image plate (#M84). When it comes to the gradient . . . I'm having trouble turning up tips for my idea. I have a bunch of MAC loose powder pigments that are a few years old. They're old enough that I don't want to use them on my eyes anymore, but they're so pretty I thought I could maybe use them to create a gradient on my nails. As gel polish still has a tacky surface when it comes out from under the lamp, my plan is to take advantage of that. After my final coat of polish, and before my topcoat, I'm thinking that using a makeup brush I could dab pigment onto the tacky surface of my nails and build it up in a gradient. The tacky surface might hold the pigment in place. Then I can finish my nails with the LED topcoat. My only concern is that my nails are still very short from my winter fly-tying sessions (I can't tie tiny trout flies with long nails), and I can't actually wrap the topcoat around the tips of my nails yet. The pigment might interfere with the topcoat's adhesion. Has anyone tried anything like this before? Does this idea sound reasonable?
I recently purchased Nails Inc. Blooming Effect Nail Polish (Cherry Garden Street). I did a base coat, a coat of color, then two coats of Cherry Garden Street on my toes. The results were very cute. Last night I decided it was time to change things up. I do not exaggerate - it took me 40 minutes to get this stuff off my nails! First I tried Butter London Glitter Scrubber pads - big mistake. All the pad did was stick to the confetti and make a bigger mess. Next I tried the old standby - soak 10 cotton pads in remover and stick them on my toes to soften the polish. Right now I'm using Zoya remover. It hardly helped at all. I ended up scrubbing each toe like crazy and using my fingernails to chip off the final pieces of confetti. I went through at least 15 cotton pads last night. This stuff is really pretty, but I'm afraid to use it again because I don't want to invest so much time in removal. Any tips would be appreciated!
I am considering purchasing an at home gel kit but am wondering if the process causes damage to the nails themselves. Any input would be greatly appreciated including your experience with gels if you have used or use them. Thanks so much!
I woke up this morning and found a package from Formula X sitting at my doorstep addressed to me....except I never ordered anything from them. I'm really confused haha. Has this happened to anyone else?
So, I decided to break out one of my Color Hit nail polishes, and I fell in love with the shade called 1st Night, which was described as "old pink." I'm looking for a dupe for that color because it's perfect with my skin tone. Any recommendations? I prefer Sephora-carried brands or salon brands, but I appreciate any leads! Thanks in advance! (I'd also be willing to trade makeup and nail polish that I have for Color Hit in 1st Night, so PM me if you have it and want to trade!)
I bought a little metal device when I was on holiday in Prague from one of your stores and it is supposed to help put nail polish on so that it doesn't go over the nail. It is absolutely useless and I ended up putting it to the side and doing my nails as normal. I have no idea how you are supposed to position your hands so that no polish goes on the skin at the side of the nails using this and really, most people will have nails that are longer than the top of their fingers so the pictures on the pack are silly as it isn't needed for that part of the nail for the most part. One of my nails had broken and the finger couldn't rest comfortably against the device so the polish ended up going on the skin at the top of that nail! Any advice on how to use this would be appreciated as the girl in the store either couldn't be bothered showing me or didn't speak enough English to help. I personally think she couldn't be bothered as she could speak enough English to tell me about offers and try to sell me stuff! We don't have stores in the UK so it's not like I can even return it.
Hello beauties - a few months ago I got the Nails Inc. in the Lilly Road color which as it turns out was a limited edition. It's one of my absolute favorite colors and I went in hoping to buy a backup (or 10!) today but it's totally gone :'( Do you lovelies know of any dupes? It's a non-streaking milky, bright, white with a hint of lilac/cool pink. Please, please help
Hello everyone! I want to see some raised hands on this question-- how many of you ladies just LOVE Josie Maran products?!?!?! I am still young- okay? But that doesn't stop me from using anti aging products- okay, but seriously, Josie Maran is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! :: round of applause:: So, let's see. I use Josie Maran Argan oil, (great for face&cuticules!) Argan creamy concealer crayon, color stick, whipped argan body butter, argan balm, lip treatments, yes... You name it.. I have ALOT of JM produc; but hey, at the same time, I'm doing my skin a great big favor by treating it nicely by using good products! (and of course my skin pays me back with gorgeous skin results!) (LOL!) So, what I want to know, is if you have tried Josie Maran, what is/are your favorite products and why? Josie Maran rocks!<3
While browsing Milani web site, I came across their nail polishes. The colors are beautiful, and they only cost $3.99. Has anyone tried them? Thoughts? I am thinking about picking up a few next time I am a store that sells their products.
I have MS and it's starting to progress. I have trouble sitting still due to pain and issues with tremors in my hands. I loved having polished nails but gave up on them. Manicures are out of the picture financially as well as the hassle of deciding when I'll feel up to an appt. There is no way I can "stay in the lines" while painting my nails. I've read suggestions like Vaseline or Elmer's glue on cuticles to prevent polish from sticking there - but I apply it to my nails too which causes the polish not to stick. I saw the Formula X nail cleaner and I'm thinking this could be a solution....it could potentially clean off the Vaseline on my nail after gooping my cuticles. Do any users of the product think this would work? Or does anyone have other suggestions?
what are you no longer supporting the products you sell? What are customers of the Sephora Opi Gel Shine home gel system supposed to do about purchasing the nail color, top coats, base coats, etc., when you phase them out? You are leaving your customers in a bad position after they faithfully paid the full price for your at home gel system.
I recently joined Julip Maven and went a bit nuts stocking up on polish. Of course now I've tried it and I just can't seem to get the formula to work. I've tried a few different colors, glitter and not and they all come out so thick and dry so fast that I can't get smooth even costs. I tried a few times and gave up and went back to my old Essie polishes. I'm so frustrated and sad I could cry. What am I doing wrong? Obviously there are so many ladies here that love these polishes.
Hi i am a avid nail polish user and i have very dry nails that split and crack, peel non stop. I have tried many different brands of treatments from sally hansen to orly essie nailtiques, julep, and so on nothing helps. Also the strong toxic smell of things really bother me. I wear a mask when I do my nails so anything that you could suggest would be a big help. I have been looking into Deborah lippman, formula x,sparitual, but if you could suggest products and instructions from cuticles all the way to a good lasting top coat i would be greatly appreciative.I dont really care about the price either as long as it helps I love reading your info and reviews. Your my last hope
This is an embarrassing question. I feel like I should know the answer to this. Until recently, it had been YEARS since I painted my nails. But once I started painting them again, I didn't look back!! And I've been painting them every weekend for a few months. Needless to say, they've gone a little yellow on me. And I get the feeling that I should let them breathe. How often should someone let their nails breathe? And how long do I need to wait before I paint them again? What will happen if I don't let them breathe? I feel like at 35, I should know the answers to these questions.
I recently took my acrylics off so my nails are pretty damaged, and weak. They'll start finally growing but literally split because they're just so weak. Any suggestions on how to helps my nails regain their strength and be healthy again?
can they be passed from a bottle of polish? About 2 weeks ago, my sister borrowed an as yet unused polish from me, and her HH aide did her nails. Yesterday she turned up with infections in both thumbs. We're drowning all the nail tools in the house in alcohol, but what about the polish? We think she got another manicure in between the one with my polish and the infection showing up, but we just can't be sure, and her aide is on vacay so we can't even check to see if it came from her tools! Just to be safe, I tossed the bottle and ordered a new one (Deborah Lippmann in LE Dark Side of the Moon). So aggravating, I bought it in the Fall, then proceeded to break nails, rip cuticles, and get blisters so I've been unable to get them done. Now everything's healed and grown to a decent length, and I was just thinking of getting a mani/pedi tom'w and this happens! And since I never wore it, I'm not even certain that I really like it enough to have spent $36 on it! Aaah, the things we do!
Every time I get a manicure, the ends start to chip away within a day or two. I know that gel lasts longer, but it's more expensive and the UV light freaks me out a little. Is there an oil or a specific topcoat that will work best for this?
