I have never had a problem growing my nails. They come in strong and they grow long. I do however have a problem with painting them. I do them myself and put a clear coat of polish on everyday, but the day after I do them, the color has started to chip. I also try to get them professionally done every now and again. As soon as I get home from having them done I put a clear coat of polish on, again though, by the morning the color has started to chip. I've tried different salons, different brands of polish and different types of clear coats. Nothing works. I've even tried the new schllac nails and after a week or so the color peels off without any soaking. I love to have my nails looking nice but I don't want to ruin my real nails with acrylics. Some one please help!
I have been invited to a party for Jamberry nail wraps, which I haven't heard of until now. My friend insists they apply and last way better than any nail wraps bought around here, and looking at the website, they are adorable! They even have a style box to subscribe to! I will probably go to the party and buy a few to try out before committing to a monthly subscription... Has anyone tried these before? Do tell! PS the website ends in .net
I just recently saw the commercial for the Sally Hansen Miracle gel polish, and reviews are mixed. Does anyone use a gel polish w/o a light that they like? I dont necessarily expect it to last 14 days, heck...my gel mani from the salon that costs me $35 doesnt even last truly that long. I would however expect a week w/o chips under normal nail duress. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Eff! I have a feeling the $50 Louboutin red nail polish will end up at my house. I don't hoard cheapie polishes so it's okay to splurge on a luxury beauty product, right? Sephora will be getting it around August 6th if I remember correctly. http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?p roductId=P388556&om_mmc=oth-tum-20140723-Louboutin
Saw a neat article on Endagaget about a manicure that changes colors. Not so tricky right? This fancy polish only changes colors if it finds any of the chemicals in Xanex, GHB, or Rohypnol while you pretend to idly finger-stir your cocktail. Or slyly drip your drink on your hand? Not sure what faux-pas you have to commit to pull either off, but the coolest part is that the polish was developed by a team of students from North Carolina State University.
I just purchased Come to Bed Red (red) from Butter London and Florence (nude) from Julep. I just wanted to know some other nail colors from different brands that would be good to have. I prefer opaque, high end polishes- but any other suggestions are welcome as well!
I Just got engaged not too long ago. What's the best type of manicure/color that will make a new diamond ring (or any jewelry for that matter) "pop"? I have short nails and prefer to stay away from adding acrylics. I'm just looking for a color scheme suggestion since I tend to stay with the old tried and true french manicure (shellac). What's a good color?
Hey all! So I was looking around Etsy for inspiration on nail polish glitter and designs when I came across this beautiful gem: It's called Amazeballs by Laquistry, an indie brand that does a lot of custom nail polishes. I just discovered her today and I'm in love with Amazeballs from all of the pictures I've found on google. Look at it! It's super reflective and it looks like crinkled up foil, but it looks like liquid metal in the bottle. It's so gorgeous, I'm obsessed with it. Google search it and you'll see what I mean. However, the price is rather expensive. With shipping to Canada it comes to about $23.50 for one nail polish, which is a bit out of my budget (I went on so many splurges this summer, I'm pretty sure I broke the bank D . I want to look for a cheaper dupe for this polish, with the same reflective/metallic/foiled look to it. I tried looking for dupes but the closest I could find were chunky glitters that don't have the same mirror-like quality, or foils, which.... I don't know how to use. :/ if you can find something like this, it would be... AMAZEBALLS!
Alright people it's time to show how you organize your nail polish I am a massive nail polish hoarder... I recently got my dad to build me a nail polish rack for my wall and I'm in love with it. I sorted it by brand this isn't all of my polish, I still have a couple containers full... we all have our addictions.
I bit my nails for about 16-17 years and I stopped right before I got married about 5 years ago but ever since then I can barely get them to grow. They'll grow a bit, split, peel, and break off. I'd love to try painting them and improving my nail painting skills, but it's hard when I rarely have nails! Does anyone have any tips or products that might help?
I want to start using the sephora system nail polish. I have seen several reviews and understand its a 4-step process/system. But my nails are really brittle and uneven from the use of acrylic nails. I want to use a good nail repair solution as well. But not sure if it can be used in conjunction. Can I use nail repair and the system together, if so should I use it before the base coat but after the cleanser?
or Which do y'all think would be best? You can't really go by the pic's (1 of my face, or my Mani-Friday pic's) I have uploaded due to yucky lighting and a blah camera! lol I am light to medium w/ neutral skin tone. Clean red's and orange-red's give my skin a nice glow. Certain undertone/colors like (idk how to explain it) the "wrong" blue's & purples will make the area around my nail bed to appear pink or red'ish (not attractive). I have a cpl of nudes but these look cool and fast. Are these opaque you think? Thanks in advance! @RandeeBt .....do you know if these are opaque and have a color suggestion by chance?!
Hi, My nails have been peeling for a while now and I don't know why. I haven't used nail polish for about two weeks so I could give my nails a break from the chemicals in the nail polish. I also got a ultra shield base coat and just wore that, but they are still peeling. What should I do and is there anything I can do without buying anything? Thanks
I have a huge collectiion of regular Sephora by OPI nail polish but like the shellac polish. Can I use the UV lamp on a regular polish to make it last a bit longer? I usually have a girls night on the weekend with my daughter so we do our nails almost once a week but would like to make it for a week at least without them regular polish chipping after 2 days.
I had a minor event three weeks ago when I was bitten by a dog. I'm mostly healed now and treating my scars with vitamin e and some nice creams. Now that the swelling and scabs are all subsided, I can tell the amount of trauma that my thumb cuticle suffered and I'm getting a little twist in my stomach every time I look at it. I have half my nail with a healthy cuticle and the other half is a small bb of scar tissue where I can see my nail bed. Is it possible for my cuticle to regrow or is there no chance since it is scarred?
Hey everyone! Since the "What Are You Wearing Today?" thread is so popular, I thought I would make one for nails! I love painting my nails, and I want to see what amazing nail looks everyone comes up with!
OH ME OH MY!!! I'm sooo excited about these new nail colors. A beauty blogger posted photos and I fell in love. I've never owned a NARS polish, they are expensive $21! But I can see myself picking up 5 from the website on July 15th. Is NARS a good polish, does it wear well? I'm still looking for pics with the names next the bottles, I want to have my list ready for the launch! LOL #addicted!
Just wanted to share, Today on the Zoya website you can get 3 polishes for $12 (the $12 is technically for shipping) Code is THREEDOM Good Deal, I would order some myself if I didn't already have so many polishes!
LOVE this polish! It's called SUGAR & SPICE ( and as usual the pic's don't do it justice)! (sad eye's,lol!) SO pretty and has Rose Gold ( my red) & Blue, in a bright cream white crelly! What do y'all think?
So I just found out that if you joined julep AFTER December 31 2013 you will not be able to skip your box you must "earn" a skip. You earn a skip every 6 months. However if you are like me and joined way before December 31 2013 you will not be affected and the old policy will remain for you. I'm not happy because I was going to refer some people.
