I'm looking for a good, long lasting, nail polish. I can't seem to keep polish on for more than a day without chipping. I prep my nails every time before painting them and there are still chips the next day. I have gel polish but I'm looking for a regular nail polish. So what are your favorite brands and colors? Thanks for the help!
I'm really annoyed with the formula on most pastel nail polishes and I love pastels. They're really sheer and take four or five coats for full opacity. Does anyone know why this is? Also, can someone recommend some pastel pink and lavender nail polishes that can get full opacity in two coats? I have an Orly pastel pink I really like that reaches opacity in two coats but I don't know the color of it, It doesn't say on the label Here are some pictures of the kind of color I'm looking for.
I started wearing gel polish in October and love it. I wash my hands constantly with my job so the gels have finally allowed me to wear dark colors and not worry about chipping. The problem is my nails have gotten so soft that they are tearing, even with the gel polish on. I'd hate to take a break from the gels. I was wondering if there was a gel base/top coat that cured to a harder finish. My gel top coat (Sensationail) seems very soft and flexible so it's really not protecting the nail. Any good advice or options?
I remember a long time ago there used to be Illamsqua polishes at SiJCP, but I guess I found at place that carried them. The last time I saw them, they were in a sales rack and on sale. Do you think there might be some sale Illas (yes I just abbreviated Illamsaqua) left? I really would like to get some new polishes after my no-buy and then send all my OPIs to the trade thread or to the friend who might want to buy my old ones.
So I just found out that if you joined julep AFTER December 31 2013 you will not be able to skip your box you must "earn" a skip. You earn a skip every 6 months. However if you are like me and joined way before December 31 2013 you will not be affected and the old policy will remain for you. I'm not happy because I was going to refer some people.

Hi All! I have an interview next week! I get a gel manicure every 2 weeks and I need to decide what color to get for my manicure on Friday. I normally try to go as bright as possible but that's obviously not appropriate but I really don't like pale pinks or french manicures. What are other neutral suggestions? Right now I'm thinking a nude or pale gray? pale green - or not professional? Slightly darker pink? Thanks!
One might say that I like nail polishes ( http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Confessions /Show-me-yours-I-ll-show-you-mine-series-Nails/m-p ... What are your favorite nail polishes that fall into the below categories: Classic red Nude/neutral Pinks Oranges Yellows Greens Blues Purples Greys Black I need to go through my collection and pick out my favorites, but would love to hear/see yours!
So, the new Formula X's have been out for a few months now, and I'm sorry to say I haven't purchased a bottle yet. Before I start picking out shades, I was wondering what you thought were the best and the worst in the new collections?
All right lovelies, I would like some help with my pitiful nail polish collection. I have a grand total of, get this, 5 polishes. I have a cherry red, a nice bright coral, an opaque nude, and a white and sheer pinky nude I use for french manicures. I love the one Formula X polish I got a few months ago so much I'm considering replacing my other colors with Formula X replacements. (The sad thing is this is partially due to how great the shape is for storing/stacking, I'm pretty sure this is a sign of OCD). So what colors should I get? I'm thinking of getting something spring-ish. Yeah, the high for tomorrow is like 2F, but I can pretend! Show me the pretties!
I got an email from Julep today that it's the last chance to pick up one of their Cupid's Mystery Boxes and was thinking of going for it. Have any of you gotten a Julep mystery box in the past and if so, what did you think of it?
I have been living on the road for the past two weeks, have another four before I get to go home. The water here where I am staying is different than the water back home and it is wrecking havoc on my cuticles. I bought a cuticle trimmer, some cocoa butter oil, some cocoa butter lotion, and a good fingernail trimmer to get my cuticles cleaned up, but still struggling. I hate cuticle pushers, I typically use a sapphire file instead because they don't hurt nearly as much. Basically my my question is around shaping my cuticles. How far back should they be pushed? I want them to be even and I can never get them even.
I'm not sure how to get my nails done for prom? I plan on getting acrylics but i don't know what color/design to have them painted, but i dont think i want to get a plain white french manicure? Any suggestions? The picture is my dress
Okay so I NEVER paint my finger nails because they always chip by the next day and it feels like so much work for nothing. I have not taken the time to find a base or top coat HG tho so maybe that's my prob. Any suggestions?? Drugstore and high end recommendations are welcome I'd really love to paint my nails more often!
I know I'm late posting this but did you guys see this? This looks so cool it's gonna be in the May box but something about they can't afford to place such a big order they are asking you to preorder for May now! Here are the options: They are doing something like kickstarter it's called crowdfunding and I'm seriously thinking of preordering it. What do you guys think?
Okay, a leeeetle embarrassing, but 2 or 3 years ago I got a pedicure at a luxury spa and got fungus in my toenails! After trying to home treat (none of those things work) and treat with OTC medication, I finally bit the bullet and bought a groupon for laser treatment last March. It worked beautifully, and killed all the bad guys in one really quick session, but I wanted to wait for the yucky looking toenail to grow out before painting my toenails again, and it is finally time!! Hurrah! But, I feel completely at a loss for which color to put on my toes- I'm leaning towards fire engine red to celebrate, but I can't make up my mind. What is everyone wearing?
I need suggestions for a high-shine top coat for my nails. I currently use Julep’s Freedom Polymer Top Coat and really like that it dries so fast but the shine fades within a day or two. I want something that will make my nail polish look as shiny as shellac polish. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be a Sephora item.
I honestly know nothing about nail polishes.. I normally don't like my nails long, so I never was interested.. The only ones I remember using was from TheFaceShop (which was bad.. like really really bad.. they apply super thick, is hard to control and just "rolls off"..) and Loreal when I was younger (so I honestly don't remember anything about them) I don't know what happened, but I suddenly became really interested in nail polishes. I watched some youtube videos of the formula x from sephora too.. but I honestly don't know where to start.. which brands make it safe to choose from, and which ones I should avoid.. I'm not looking for a whole collection, but a basic of a few... I like neutral nude-ish colors that look more sophisticated... not like a strawberry milk color with a cheap looking finish... I've been looking at Ciate (I'm hesitant because I've read some reviews that it made some people's nails to become yellow), Formula x, illamasqua, etc.. I'm not looking to spend too much on nail polishes, but I don't want the quality to be too... low. I would love and appreciate any kind of input ! Thank you in advance
