Anyone have tips for picking a nude nail polish?

(0) Hearts

I was totally distracted by the new nail polish display at my Sephora. I have good, strong nails and I polish them now and then with a very light beigey-pink (probably meant for French manicures). I don't put too much thought into them.

I started playing with the nude samples, but I couldn't figure out what the "rule" was for them. Even with the plastic tester sheets, I found it hard to figure out what color looked good.

Are nude nails supposed to match your skin color, be lighter, or darker?

It's all your preference!!  I personally prefer my nudes to be a shade lighter (pink hues - CND Shellac Romantique) or the same shade (neutral/golden undertones - Butter London's Tea With The Queen) as my skintone.  Have fun with it!  The great thing about nail polish is one swipe with remover and you have a clean slate for something new!

typically I go for nudes that are a shade lighter than my skin tone or a shade darker, I have never used the same shade, because I want to make my nails stand out :smileywink:
