glitter nailpolish
I just bought this gorgeous blue nailpolish from forever 21 that had sparkles in it. when i apply it it comes out clear with 5-6 big sparkle pieces. I thought it would be the same consistency as in the bottle : blue with sparkles. how do i apply this the right way?

Hello,
I have actually seen the one you are talking about. I like collecting nail polish and take a look at them wherever I go. Many of these glitter polishes are not as opaque as we would like them to be. I have tested so many different ones. I would suggest that you apply the one you have in very thin layers and let it dry well in between layers so it doesn't get to thick and peel right off. Some of my favorite glitter polishes are Sephora by OPI and also Nails Inc. Both are brands that have amazing glitter polishes that are more opaque and come out looking like they do in the bottle. Check them out here online. =)

Glitter polishes always look so pretty in their bottles, but when it comes to applying the colors multiple coats are often required to achieve the same consistency. What I do is apply one coat of polish in a soft color similar to the glitter polish and let this dry fully. Next I apply a coat or two of glitter polish, having a base color really helps in making the sparkles stand out.

Hi curvygirli,
Great tips you have! I agree in putting a similar blue layer on the nail first and then following with the glitter. Sometimes I'll apply 3 or 4 coats of the glitter polish to really get that shimmer, or I try to swirl the brush around the bottle, let the polish drip off and try to just keep the big "chunks" of glitter on. This is helpful when you have polishes with the star or heart shaped pieces.
Hope this helps too!
