What's the best way to prevent hangnails?
I always have awful hangnails. I take care of them regularly with a cuticle clipper, but does anyone know how to prevent them? I've heard it means my cuticles are dry, maybe from too much handwashing. So do I just need to apply more hand lotion? Thanks in advance!

I would definitely suggest a deeply nourishing cuticle moisturizer. Also, try to not file or clip the sides of your nails if you can help it.

I totally used to get them ALL the time! I started carrying around a mini lotion for my purse and haven't had one for ages, I can't even remember when the last one is!!
I also wash my hands a lot but randomly in the car or waiting in line or something I am now in the habit of putting a little lotion on my hands and fingers. It really does help!
Like the other poster said, I also do not trim the sides of my nails and if you do cut your cuticles then be sure to moisturize them appropriately.

If you are looking for a treatment for hangnails, consider cuticle oil such as vitamin E oil, it helps rehydrate and prevent future dry, cracked cuticles. Hydrate the skin around your nails either with a cuticle cream or oil will prevent dryness which is the main cause for hangnails.

Cuticle Oil is your friend! They make purse size ones that are easy and convenient. Try getting in the habit of applying it 2 times per day. ![]()
