First Attempt with a Nail Art Brush
Hi, everyone! At Sally's Beauty Supply last weekend, I picked up a double ended nail art brush. One end is a thin brush and the other is a dotting tool. Today, I finally gave the brush a try to figure out the best way to use it, and here's the results. Some nails came out better than others, so I went in for some close ups. Has anyone else tried nail art brushes? If so, what is the best way to clean them? When I was finished, I used water to get the remaining polish off.
*the picture was rotated correctly when I saved it, so I don't know what happened lol*
Products Used:
Sephora by OPI base coat
China Glaze White on White (base for the neon orange)
Essie in Action
China Glaze in Ruby Pumps for the stripes

Ooh, kimmi, tiger stripes, I just love it! You really have done a great job with a new tool. I'll have to go to Sally's and check it out, I need some more of the generic tea tree shampoo they sell.

I was actually looking into getting a nail brush, but it looks like you've already beat me to the chase Kimmi
. Your nails look really cute and playful! From what I've been told using nail polish remover is perfectly safe to use on nail brushes, just make sure that you don't get any remover onto the wooden part, past the ferrule.
I haven't been to Sally's in ages, I use to love going there for hair dye growing up.

Hi kimmi1115,
Good to hear from you again ![]()
Love the color combo in this design! I have a dotting tool too and use nail polish to clean up the tips and remove excess nail polish.
Here's a video of a recent technique I did on myself (and several clients) with my dotting tool.

[ Edited ]Hi Kimmi,
I found an interesting runway picture and tried using a nail brush too. Did you dip your brush right into the polish bottle? I tried dipping the brush directly. One problem... I needed to create fine lines. It's supposed to look like feathers. I ended up quickly adding a little bit into a dixie cup. I used:
CND sticky base coat
Sephora by OPI A-ha! Moment
CND blackjack
CND super matte topcoat
Here's the link to the runway version: http://cndfashionweek.com/Spring2012/day-7/wayne-b
I have Orly's Detailer brush (only brush...I wish I had the tool you have, now.) for the black feather look. I'd love to try your pattern! Looks great! P.S. - How long did your nails take to finish?

How pretty and fun! I'm really digging this color combination, thanks Kimmi!
I've been thinking about investing in a nail designing tool or brush for awhile since I'm so into doing my nails but I think this has made me really want one now! For some reason it reminds me of cheetos! Cute! ![]()

I like the design you did! I find it annoying how you cant just take the design off you have to take the color too. lol. And some of the nail brushes are so thick urgg its so annoying. I would also not recommend using the nail design pens they come off really easily and dont even work like real nail polish. lol. The nail art pen things were a fail at creation.
