Ok, so I've already tried two matches that obviously were way too orange and dark for my skin. I have used 2W2 and 2W1 but since my neck is way lighter than my super combination facial skin, you can always tell there's a huge difference. I'm almost a perfect MUFE #30 in their Matt Velvet...... which is a perfect shade but I don't think it compares to the EL. If someone could please help me out I would totally appreciate it! (I have yellow undertones!)
I had a strange inkling something was up because the shades were constantly oos on the website. Now it is no longer listed on the website as a product being sold. Is it being reformulated or did they discontinue it?
Does anyone else have an issue with their lip line being uneven due to dry skin? It kind of looks like I have tiny clogged pores but I think it's really just dry skin. I try to exfoliate on a regular basis but so far it's not working. Any suggestions on how to make it go away?
So, I'm somewhat new to this whole makeup thing. I'm 20 years old, with fair, combination-oily skin. My cheeks tend to be red and sensitive also. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a foundation or bb cream for my skin, and also a light powder to finish it off. I've tried Clinique's almost powder and it seems to cake on my face, and shows every line. I'm looking for something that isn't extremely heavy on my face since it's almost summer. Also if you have any recommendations for a lip stain or lipstick that will stay put all day and not run, that would be great.
have you ever had an a-ha moment after a very simple suggestion was thrown your way? i'm not talking years of practice leading to mastering the craft here. but rather when your makeup game changed for the better after a tiny tweak in technique and / or perspective. i was chatting with a friend about it, i realized i had a couple and thought it would be a cool thing to discuss here--for fun, and to share what could possibly be a-ha moments for others ! my first proper simple suggestion to how i approached makeup was years ago, but still after years of struggle to find a foundation that really did match my skin. a friend makeup artist told me i had neutral-to-yellow undertones (she also said 'olive but too pale to even tell'.... too pale to even tell will be the name of my memoirs ) and to try out japanese brand foundations. i eventually found bobbi brown, giorgio armani and nars, too, and that struggle was put to rest. my second ohhhhhh moment was relatively more recently, when i was advised to apply liner (particularly winged, liquid/gel liner) with my eyes open, rather than closed. this. changed. everything. for me. i'd always struggled because i have ever-so-slightly hooded eyes, and when i applied the perfect wing to closed eyes, everything was pointing the wrong way when i opened them. and with this simple suggestion, suddenly something i felt i'd never learn how to swing was remarkably easy and almost foolproof. same goes for eyeshadow (particularly in the crease) though to a lesser degree. how about you ??
I wanted to try Hourglass Immaculate foundation because I heard so many good things about it and I have really oily skin. I went to Sephora and asked for help picking out my shade. The Sales rep put it on top of my makeup, which I had been wearing all day. It did look like a match so I bought the warm beige. But when I put it on the next day I was too orange. I agreed with her that I would get darker in summer but this is not even a natural color. So I went back and asked another sales rep to help me choose a color, this time she removed my makeup, although just on my jaw line and tried on honey, she said that was the right color. I looked and it did look better than my orange skin (yes I wore the makup again, to give it another try). So I got the honey. Now I've been wearing it for a few days and it is till orange. It is much lighter than the warm beige, but it is still not my color. I have olive skin does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi everyone, I just recently got the Naked 3 palette. I know I'm late but I'm so indecisive about palettes since I don't always use all the colors but so far I love it. I'm wondering what are your favorite combinations of eye shadows from this palette or your favorite looks to create. There are so many beautiful colors I want to make sure I'm using them the best I can and combining them the best way possible. I'd love to hear all the ways you all use this palette!
So I currently bought the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and I love the color however I have noticed that it stains clothes and objects when my face is pressed against them even without trying to put pressure. I prime before all my other foundations and have never had a problem with my foundation transferring everywhere. I tried again the other day and I dusted some translucent setting powder but it only helped a little. What are some things you all do in order to avoid foundation from transferring?
Generally I've been more of a natural lips kind of girl. I've gravitated to more glosses and balms and even when branched out to lipsticks, I've tended towards more neutral, wearable shades. Now I've decided I want to be more playful with my makeup, especially because I love purples. I picked up Bite Violet and absolutely love it. The color is super flattering with my skin tone and hair and just playful enough without going too crazy. BUT...I'm noticing when I go for a bolder lip color it seems to call attention to any imperfections in my skin. Has anyone noticed that as well? I'm feeling like maybe I might need a fuller coverage foundation for the days I want a bolder lip. Edited to add: When I've been wearing my violet lipstick I'm also wearing a full face of makeup (foundation, blush, smokey eye, brow makeup, etc.) so it isn't as if I'm bare faced with only lipstick.
Hi, I'm looking for a tried and true lip primer to especially use with the new Tom Ford lipsticks I just purchased? Specifically, I have some trouble spots on my lips that get so dry I pick at them and I'm finding that most primers that I like that are moisturizing tend to be too greasy and don't seem to do that matte lipstick colors enough justice. If it helps, I bought Pussycat and Ruby Rush. I also like wearing YSL lip stain, but don't feel like that lasts long on my lips with current primer. I'm currently using Napoleon's lip primer, and had previously tried Too Faced's primer and didn't like it. Any help is greatly appreciated - even if you have some curing suggestions for my lips, those would be helpful as well - I feel like I've tried everything under the sun. Neosporin, Softlips, Rose Salve, Chanel moisturizer, Dior's Lipglow, Kiehl's lip balm/ointment, and most recently Baume de Rose by Terry & Sugar lip treatment by Fresh. Shoot, I'm sure there's more - that's how bad it gets / I am! Thank you!
Just curious, I thought I'd ask to see what makeup product others find themselves buying the most of. (For example, eyeshadows, mascaras, foundations, blushes... etc..) For myself, I am perpetually buying more lipstick than I probably need. It usually takes me forever to even finish ONE, but yet I still seem to be always looking at/buying more of them, haha! :-)
I am looking for something new, let me know what you would suggest please I have very long lashes. I used Hypnose for years, but I want something that is more defining since I don't have a problem with volume. I recently tried Rollergal, and I liked the curl, and the way it made my lashes so dark, but I found it clumpy. What do you like that might have the same effect without clumping? Maybe I should try it with a primer? I just picked up the Dior primer. thanks, all.
I'd like to try a new foundation. I'm trying to decide between the Tarte Amazonian clay full coverage foundation and the Bare Minerals BareSkin serum foundation. I have redness in my cheeks that I'd like to even out...it seems to be worsened when I'm in the sun. Any recommendations?
Anyone been to one of these events before? Anyone going to the ones coming up? What can I expect? I searched "Meet the founder" but didn't see a thread, feel free to redirect me if I'm duplicating a post
I've recently noticed that my foundation refuses to last all day. I'll put on a moisturizer, then primer, then let it sit then apply my foundation with a beauty blender, AND top with powder. Five hours later, I find that on my chin, the makeup looks spacey, flakey, and almost nonexistent, then on my nose and the area around my nose, the foundation is SO oily. It clumps and cakes and I literally can use my nail lightly to trace over my nose and a ton of make up not only comes off, but its evident that my makeup is cakey and I just drew a line through the oily mess. I'm currently using NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, and using NARS Light Optimizing Primer with drugstore powder. I definitely don't think it's my powder, because my foundation stays all over the rest of my cheeks and forehead. As for my skin, I don't have acne or anything. I have a very oily nose, and the rest of my skin is normal. Not oily or dry. Please please help me fix this issue, I'm tired of looking like an oily cake face!
Hi I am interested in purchasing the Georgia Armani Silk foundation but am unsure about my color, I tried putting in my zip code but this is not available in my local Sephora, How can you help me choose my right color?
I'm gonna be working at a fast food restaurant and i wanted to use something lighter than foundation, maybe a bb cream, i currently use the naked skin foundation and i dont get any breakouts from it so i was wondering what cheap products i could use just for work
I recently bought a Naked Basics palette from Sephora. While I like most of the shades, I found Foxy to be noticeably stiffer and more different to pick up (with a brush or finger) than the rest. I'm wondering if that's how the shadow is supposed to be? Should I exchange the palette for a new one?
This is one of the most beautiful sets we've ever done. The Watercolor theme is playful and has inspired such pretty hues. This set is unique in that we've included some colours that are a little unusual, a pastel yellow and a mint green. These two shades, are sheer washes of colour and look great when mixed with some of the other glosses in the set or layered over top of other lipstick shades. The first six are sheer, and more diluted while the last six are more pigmented. Right now I'm loving the combination of #4 (a pale lilac shade), layered over Violet Luminous Creme Lipstick. It lightens the colour and adds such a beautiful shine. All of the glosses are super portable and can be easily layered and matched with your favourite lip products!
Currently, I'm using a dark brown eyeshadow and the brow wiz in dark brown to fill in my brows. I'm almost out of the powder, so I want to try the one from Anastasia since I prefer powders. I can't decide between dark brown or ebony, as my main concern is dark brown not being neutral/cool enough for my black eyebrows. I love my eyebrows here, I think they're just right. The long swatch on my hand is the powder and the shorter one is the brow wiz in dark brown.
Hey Everyone!! So here is the deal, I live in Pittsburgh but I am getting married on Sept 5th 2015 in Central Park (NYC, duh). I can't exactly head on up there a couple weeks before the wedding to try and do a trial bridal makeup session with any makeup artists up there, so I am going to try and do this myself (eeeek). I do my own makeup whenever I leave the house, but it's nothing special or extravagant (light to medium coverage application of foundation, blush, lip stain, eyes, and thats it). I'd like to do something that 100% covers all of my acne scars, but doesn't look cakey or over done. It also needs to LAST ALL DAY! My ceremony is at 2 PM, but my reception isn't until 6 PM.. so I literally mean all day. We'll be outside from the time the ceremony begins until the reception starts, and I'm a nasty sweaty pig. My dress is a strapless a-line tea length with a sweetheart neckline, and I have a birdcage veil... the reception is at a swing dancing club, so we're obviously going for a vintage feel. I'd really like to do something that says vintage, elegant, sexy, but not TOO sexy, sweet, radiant (but not TOO radiant since i'm oily and sweaty), clean, simple, but still fun. I WANT SO MANY THINGS! I have been using Bare Minerals matte powder foundation because it's a perfect match for my skin color (and I have a hard time finding foundations that are a perfect match), but it tends to settle in my pores (which is huge) and smile lines (which makes me look like an 80 yr old women) and also tends to rub off easily.. I just don't want to have to keep checking myself in the mirror to fix that. Plus it doesn't completely cover my acne scars. Ok, wow that was long, so back to the point. ANY advice on how I should go about doing this? Any tips? tricks? advice? opinions? how-tos? anything at all would be appreciated. What primer do you recommend? Which foundation do you feel would work for me and I should try? To contour or not to contour, that is the question? What shade of blush?! What lipstick and what shade?! How the heck do I get my make up to stay on all day through sweat, oil, and tears? WHAT ABOUT MY EYES?! UNDER EYE CIRCLES?! I DONT EVEN USE CONCEALER THERE BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND ONE THAT DOESN'T LOOK WEIRD!!! AND HOW THE HECK DOES ONE "DO THEIR EYEBROWS"?! I barely even have eye brows and that will look so weird in pictures!!! "oh jeez, yeah did you see her wedding pictures? she literally has no eyebrows, how sketchy is that?" <--what I assume would be said by everyone attending. I'm freaking out, obviously. I just need guidance. Like, holy guidance. People, I need a bridal makeup Yoda. Someone, anyone, be that guy for me. Please. Thanks for listening to my rant!
