Please help me select a super special Christmas gift for my son's 17 year old girlfriend. I posted this in the wrong category by mistake so decided to repost in case it was overlooked. I'd like to buy this girl the most highly coveted / Holy Grail item for girls in this age bracket. I was thinking of holiday collections that I like, (Tarte or Too Faced for example ) but considered that my taste may be far from what young girls prefer. I don't know her well, my son didn't have much luck prying info from her, so I don't know what her preferences are aside from that she wears eyeliner, mascara & occasionally neutral or light coloured lip gloss. Also, I don't know if this helps or not, but she's into horses. Thank you so much for any ideas or advice!
My only problem while doing makeup is dark circles, i dont have any marks on face, but my dark circles, i look like panda i am currently using Nars liquid concealer, i like it, but i'm eyeing on this palette, for my dark circles and contouring, i need fellow BTers review. should i pick it? Plz suggest. I am looking for dark palette 4. http://www.sephora.com/5-camouflage-cream-palette- P12630?skuId=873471
Sooooofinally jumped on the Z-palette wagon and I'm definitely not regretting it, in part due to the fact I did not shatter a single shadow , I did not like most of the patterns and I found someone on etsy who makes them (PM for the store name) and they are great quality! I depotted: -Smashbox brown eyes -Too Faced Natural at Night & Boudoir Eyes -Naked Two & Three, and Naked Basics -Kat Von Dee Saint & True Love -Mac Nylon & someother one (not a big mac fan) -Sona Kushick brown eyes 10 I feel like I need some more non-naturals in my life now! But it was so easy to pick and choose my eyeshadow today! No searching through so many palettes. So I got a double sided z-palette and then a travel palette that is also double sided. The store I bought from also had two other larger sides but I didn't think I had enough eyeshadows to depot to need ones larger! Let me know your guys opinion and if you have taken to jump over to the z-palettes!
SO EXCITED!! 11/28/14, they are coming out with 50 LE miniature lipsticks, selling at $32 each. I need them all. A snippet from an article about them: " In the Lips & Boys lineup, there are 10 shade ranges, encompassing nude browns, violets and plums, metallics, reds and light pinks. The high-pigment shades are done in a base of soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomile flower oil. Thirty-six offerings are new shades; 10 are from Velvet Suede, Ford’s current seasonal color story, and four are from previous seasons. Ford predicted bestsellers will include Tomas, a coral hue; Matthew, a coral pink; Flynn, a light pink; Giacomo, a deep rose, and Patrick, a muted coral pink. Each clutch-size lipstick will retail for $32. The lipsticks can also be packaged in sets of any three hues in the collection."
I'm looking to learn more about applying makeup. (namely eye shadow) But anyone can make a youtube video. So who makes the best ones? Especially videos that are good for those who know NOTHING to start with. Thanks so much!!!
Just now posted on Temptalia, this is the NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette. It's LE, and it's $79.00. Colors included, as listed by Christine on Temptalia: Europa, Himalia, Ursa Major, Subra, Andromeda, Lysithea, Giove, and Sycorax. Available January 1 from NARS and February 1 from Sephora. There's also the Blush, Contour and Lip Palette for $59.00. It's LE, and a Sephora exclusive! The colors, as listed on Temptalia, are Enrapture, Enthralled, Roman Holiday, and Albatross blushes, Laguna bronzer, and Istria gloss. I love how this palette has two levels!
Hey Ladies! Alright, so, I am looking for a new eyeshadow palette and want your opinions! I have UD's Naked 2 &3 plus many more single eyeshadows from a wide range of places. I've thought about UD's Naked (the original), but have heard that it's more for people with warm complexions (I am pretty fair skin, cool/neutral tones, with blue/gray eyes, and blond hair), so I'm not sure if I want to go that route. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know that I was anything crazy like UD's Electric palette, but it's not completely out of the question! Thank you for any and all advice!
What is your favorite holiday eyeshadow palette of 2014? So far I've purchased Kat von D star studded palette, HK palette, Vice 3 palette, and Lorac Mega pro. Should I look into anything else? I have the TF Sugar & Spice palette and the UD shadow box sitting in my cart.
I suppose I'm referring to color products (eye shadow/liner, blush, lips). I feel like I always choose everything based on my eye color, but a while back, one of the associates at a department store suggested some different shades to play off my hair color. I would never have thought of that, and would never have given a second thought to the shades he was suggesting because my hair is a warm, light brown/dirty blonde whereas my skin is primarily neutral and my eyes are light blue. I don't proclaim to know everything, but I had never run across the idea of matching to hair color before. Do you use features other than your eyes to choose your product shades?
What are your favorite Tom Ford Makeup products? And what are your experiences with the brand? Makeup brush inputs will help tremendously as well! Do you own any? If you do why do you buy his line? If you don't have any products, what is stopping you from purchasing his line?
I've been using one of Clinique's Indian pinkish blush (came as a GWP one time) with the MAC Cranberry but it somehow hardened and doesn't work.. I'm looking for something to pair with the Mac Cranberry eyeshadow because its honestly one of my favorite to wear.. I usually go for a softer yet defined look... so something subtle would be great. I've been wearing Bobbi Brown bone all over the lid, Clinique Indian pink blush lightly on the crease, and Mac cranberry over my eyeliner, extended to soften the harsh lines. any suggestions would be great!
IMATS LA 2015 is next month! I will be flying out there for about a week with some ladies from BT. So I want to know... who's going? What vendors are you excited to see? Any products in particular you'll be hunting down?
Hello! I am a beginner who would like to learn how to highlight and contour. I typically don't wear a lot of make-up just mascara and eyeliner, but would like to add definition to my face. For a beginner what are the basic or main items that I would need to highlight and contour my face (such as brushes, foundation, primer, etc.)? Any particular items that anyone would recommend for a beginner that is a reasonable price since I am just starting out? In addition, my face is normal but because of winter it tends to be on the dry side if that helps. Thanks!
Anyone have a suggestion for a duplicate of the lip color "Inspired" that was part of last year's big lip set? It's a slightly purple neutral. I'm too fair for anything too dark but that color was neutral enough for days/work. More purple/cool than UD's Naked for a reference against another one of my staples.
It seems like my YT home page has been inundated with reviews of these $5 Colourpop Super Shock cream eye shadows. They actually look quite lovely, but when I see everyone and their mother doing a review for something they were sent on YT, I tend to take those reviews with a heaping grain of salt. Has anyone actually tried these? The price is appealing at least.

A little over a month ago I stocked up during the sale and bought an extra Urban Decay Naked Liquid Foundation, and a Smashbox Concealer. I am finally ready to open the boxes and start using them (my old product lasted much longer than expected!!). I am just curious - how long is it okay to have them unopened before throwing them out? I've read a lot about how long to keep them when they are opened, but was curious if unopened makes any differences in time or if it gives it an extension as to when it expires. Sorry if this is a stupid question... just curious!
So I just hit VIB ROUGE!!!!!! I was $9 away so how could I not place an order right? I have been shopping at Sephora for years and have never made it but this year I finally did. The little things that make my day better....its been a rough few weeks. Now to tackle the massive pile of laundry that is calling my name.
So I've been having a problem with every single blush I have ever bought and used because all of them end up looking like a wine/cranberry one! It's started to really annoy me because the colors I play clearly are not meant to be that dark (ex: tarte magic, benefits coralista, etc). All of the blushes I buy look like corals, peaches, or baby doll pinks in the packaging and on other people, but they always end up looking sooo dark, red, and mauve, on me, and sometimes they even end up looking like a brown. I'm not sure why all of my blushes end up looking so dark. At first I thought I might be too pale for these blushes, but I've seen people who are paler and darker than me and the blushes look true to color and them. I thought it might have been the brand I am using, but I've tried so many brands and each blush I get always ends up being reddish plum on me. I also thought I was applying to little or too much product, but no matter what amount of product I use I still end up with super dark cheeks. Anyone know what could cause these blushes to look so different on me? and does anyone know how to fix this problem? It's starting to really irritate me since I'm buying a bunch of gorgeous blushes, yet none of them end up looking like how they are supposed to be.
We swatched the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette to see how the colors looked on different skin tones. What do you think?
Do you have a swatch of this palette? Post a pic in the thread below!

I'm having a hard time deciding between the three palettes. I love the color in Naked3 but I'm afraid it might be too pink for me. I have fair skin with yellow undertones and I'm looking for something more neutral/natural and leaning towards the golden side. Any Naked palette veterans care to share some advice? Thanks! G
Beauties, how Audacious have you gotten? I need to get some of these and am going to swatch tomorrow. If you have Audacious lippies, show us what colors you've picked up, and share what other colors you're still lusting after. Just from looking at swatch sheets last month, (on Temptalia I think) I saw about 15 I wanted How about you? Also, hat tip to jemly for inspiring this thread
I'm surprised no one has posted about these! So Marlena came out with 10 new eyeshadows about 2 weeks ago. They are a brand new finish in the MUG line and are supposed to be comparable to the Stila Magnificent Metals eyeshadow (according to her). The Foiled Eyeshadows are a high pigment, ultra metallic finish. Since they are already very metallic, no Fix+ or any mixing medium is needed. There are 10 shades ranging from an intense copper to a bright purple. They are $9.99 each or $89.99 for all ten shades. They are more expensive than the regular eyeshadows because they were more expensive to manufacture. The shades are: Magic Act ( Light gold with yellow undertones) In the Spotlight (Soft pink with coral undertones) Grandstand (Medium rose gold with slight taupe undertones) Showtime (Rusty brown with warm undertones) Flame Thrower (True brightened warm copper) Jester ( Bright mossy green with slight gold undertones) Houdini ( Deep emerald teal green) Mesmerized ( Deep medium taupe with strong purple undertones) Center Stage ( Bright royal blue) Caitlin Rose ( Bright amethyst purple) Are you going to pick up a few of these? I'm planning on picking up Grandstand, Showtime, Flame Thrower, and Caitlin Rose. If you ladies do, please pick up Caitlin Rose. It's dedicated to a daughter of a family friend of Marlena's who passed away from Batten Disease and all proceeds from the sale of each Caitlin Rose eyeshadow will go to the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation. I also hope to pick up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Titanium eyeshadows soon and compare both brands.
