I have recently been reading an article that said wearing blue eyeshadow makes you look like a clown so NEVER wear blue eye shadow. So no blue eye shadow at ALL! Well I highly disagree with this. Blue is a graceful color. If you wear it and put it on right it won't make you look like a clown! I wear blue eyeshadow when its night time.
My name is Bombshell and I continue to be an eyeshadow addict enthusiast !! However, five weeks ago I began a quest to actually start using my mountains and mountains of palettes and shadows. Along with some awesome ladies who have joined in I have committed to using the same palette 5 days in a row and posting the results at the end of five days. Those with single shadows are welcome to join in as well! If you are interested in the original rules & lists posted they can be found in off topic, (take the challenge: palette parade). the gist of it is make a list, plan to show all your shadows love for extended period of time (5days), if you hate it first day move on. I am also planning to add weeks of singles by brand (Stila week, UD week, Nars week). I think instead of posting and editing lists it would be easier to report what we plan to use at the beginning of the week and the report the results at the end. We meet here at the end of the week to discuss what we wore for the week, how it worked for us and most importantly to share pictures and advice! Anyone can join as we all started at different times and have different numbers of palettes, and will finish at different times. I am looking at 38 (?) more weeks if I don't buy one more palette! Xoxo I look forward to more fun parading with all you girls! Palette Parade Princesses: CalamityJane85, Nikki, LadyMeag, Beethousand, AmberAngeline, MaFan, nurseCupcake, Carolang, Jenblush, Malday, Sparlekai, GHKim, IttyxBittyxMe, Katie241, SirenPrincess, Manniface.
I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
There was someone who was going to do a foils/small sample TSB. I do not believe that person is still going to do it. If they are, I apologize and will not do one. I have been in two boxes and loved it but I have never started one. If anyone is still interested, I am willing to try to start one. We can use the same rules from the other TSB. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Also we need to decide if we want to do this with a small flat rate box (I believe shipping is around $6.00) or a medium flat rate box (I believe shipping is around 13.00). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! This box is open for US shipping only. Shipping becomes more expensive for Canada. Once we decide if we want to do a small or medium box I will post pics of what I will start the box out with. If at that time someone decides they don't like what I am starting the box out with just let me know. I want this to be fun for all. Once I get the box back I will go through it & give the leftover items to the local youth group who works with the homeless shelters in Fredericksburg VA. Ok, this needs to be done. Starting this thread has been mentioned before, but I'm taking the leap. Below, I'll start a list of commonly mispronounced beauty brands, so please comment if you want to correct me or add another brand. This is for all you perfectionists out there! Anastasia : ah-na-STAH-see-uh Borghese : bore-GAY-zeh Boscia : BOE-sha Bourjois : boor-zjwah Caudalie : COE-dah-lee Chanel : shun-NELL Chantecaille : shahn-tuh-KAI Ciate : see-AH-tay Clinique : clih-NEEK Estee Lauder : EHS-tay LAH-der Givenchy : zjee-VON-shee Guerlain : gare-LAHN Illamasqua : il-lahm-MAS-ka Jouer : zjoo-EH Jurlique : jer-LEEK Koh Gen Do : coh gen doh (hard g) Korres : koh-REHZ Laura Mercier : LOH-rah mehr-see-AE (r is a French nasal r) Lancome : lahn-comb L'Occitane en Provence : LOHX-ee-tahn uhn pro-VAHNCE LORAC : lah-ROCK Marchesa : mar-KAY-zuh NYX : nix Ole Henriksen : OO-lah ON-rick-son Omorovicza : oh-more-oh-VEET-sah Shiseido : shih-SAY-doh Shu Uemura : SHOO oo-eh-MOO-rah Stila : STEE-lah Yves Saint Laurent : EVE sahn loh-RAHN Feel proud if you've been saying them right! We're all pretty much brand snobs here, be it Neutrogena or Tom Ford. Also, the French people are annoying. Most of these brands are French!
Any of you tried one, or both of these pretties? I am trying to decide between the two, as they look pretty similar in pictures. I love the Chanel but I get points and dollars towards Rouge requalification if I choose the Dior, so....decisions, decisions!
I'm sure you guys all have your favourite products that just aren't quite right on their own but turn into magic when mixed with something else. For me, it's Illamasqua Skin Base-- it's the perfect colour but I find it a bit thick and heavy coverage on its own, so I mix it with primer and/or moisturiser. I mixed it with Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer today, and BAM. Perfect finish. So now I'm curious: what products do you mix? Foundation with a different base product, magic eyeshadow combinations, gorgeous lip combos? Share, share!
I'm going to post a picture of me without makeup. Because hey, I love makeup, but I'm also working on embracing my face au naturel, too. None of this "I'm not wearing makeup" when you're wearing a tinted moisturizer, brown mascara, and have a slight flush to your cheeks and lips. I'm talking no makeup AT ALL (No, not even clear lip balm). This is me, about 10 minutes out of the shower. Anyone else brave enough?
So I fell in love with a set of Japonesque brushes that's available at Ulta, Beautybar and Dermstore for full price. The only site that have any applicable promo going on seems to be beautybar, which have a refer-a-friend program. So, refer me? =)
I have no idea what term or terms I have violated. This is ridiculous, and as a VIB, my personal right to purchase is offended by some insane rules that I don't know. PLEASE let me know the specific reasons for why my orders have been cancelled, and what are the solutions. I spent a lot of time to pick up gifts for my friends and colleagues elaborately, and after I made my orders, I waited and waited for another a lot of time. When I checked order status, I was mad to find that my orders were freakingly cancelled. Can you imagine what status I am now? This totally ruined all my perfected plan for my friend network, even to my career circle. When I sent email to ask the reasons, how can you just easily replied me by checking your company's term of use, which is as long as the GREAT WALL.
Eleven new WG brushes coming to Beautylish! The Face Set: $265, available in March And the Eye Set: $148, available in April Whyyyy...I totally can not afford these right now, but I am certain that I will buy at least a few individual brushes!
I apologize for asking about this issue that has been asked before. But I just received my Guerlain meteorites -- the old (2010 I think) formula. I would like to be able to use a brush I already own, at least to see if I like these meterorites or not, but am unsure which type of brush to use. Is it better to use a denser packed brush with these meterorites? Or a soft fluffier one? Is there a certain shape of the brush that seems to be better? Is natural hair (vs. synthetic) better? I tried using it earlier today with a fluffier natural-bristle brush that I pulled out and I didn't see much of anything on my skin (even though it appeared my brush picked up some powder). Another question I have is if I use a powder brush for it, can wiping it off be enough if I want to use the same brush for setting powder, or do I need to have a separate brush?
Hi! I would like a recomendation to choose a foundation for my wedding day! It will be taking place in the summer, so I need something to stick on my face but still look like myself. I have combination skin, and a little bit of redness. And im pretty sure it will be hot that day, so I dont want to be oily-shiny. Hope you can help me!! I was thinking about studio skin 15 hour wear foundation, but im not pretty sure! I linked a photo of myself so you can have an idea, I have make up on, and the other one with the pink t-shirt with no makeup at all HEEEELP!
Ebates sent out an e-mail this morning saying that instead of 4% off at Sephora it will be 8% again. I don't know how long it will last, but I thought I would share in case someone had been waiting on it to go back up. Happy shopping!
So I know a lot of you ladies wear glasses and I just thought maybe we could share our framed faces and pass along tips for wearing makeup with wearing glasses! I'll go first, I had to really dig through my phone for some pictures of me wearing my frames but here are a couple! *Note: I am incapable of taking a "serious" picture while wearing glasses My makeup tip is to wear a bright lipstick to draw attention away from my giant glasses haha. Not a very good tip, but this thread is to discover new ones! Edit: I actually have two pairs of glasses but these ones need prescription lenses still
I'm so sad, I just returned 2 things today like right AFTER I bought them in the store (yes, TODAY), I can't take this back now. Maybe I put it on too heavy, after all I don't have an eyebrow brush yet. Had to use an angled eyeliner until my Anastasia one comes because it's sold out here.
So, I have always struggled with doing any kind of eye make up and tonight I was watching some tutorials and I realized that I have no idea what "approach" to take with eye make up because I have silly half white/half asian eyes that are very confused about their identity. I would say that I have a hooded eye, as you can see in picture 1...but when I open my eye more (picture two, although it is not the best picture of this), I actually also have a fairly well defined crease. So...how do I apply eye make up to my crazy eyes? Is there a name for this shape to look up tutorials? I feel like whenever I start applying anything other than a neutral wash, things start to fall apart because my eyes crease in 2 places. I think because of that, I have trouble blending/applying colors, so any and all tips you guys have would be really appreciated!!
Hello pretty ladies, Back with another question to see what all you wonderful minds have to suggest. I really like using gel liners because i find it gives me the most natural look - but no matter how I apply it, it smudges all under my eye and on the corners despite the fact not using much If I tightline my eyes with a gel liner it's a no no and smudges within MINUTES!! I have oily lids so things easily move around - with my stila liquid liner it stay puts all day but sometimes I find it is just a bit too much for an everyday thing. I've tried gel liners from tarte, bobbi brown, smash box and god knows what and none of them worked - I've been using a Korean brand which has proven to have better "smudge proof" quality. I still want to know more options. I know probably a pencil option may be good - so any suggestions? Stila? Urban Decay? How do I get my gel liners not to travel down to my lower lid and smudge all over my under eye area and the corners of my eyes!!! It's driving me nuts.
Good morning all!!!!! I think I found a new urban decay palette!!!!! Of course it's not confirmed, urban decay is denying it of course but the image I'm about to show was found on Reddit, and I found it on the blog zadidoll. So without further ado here it is!!!!!!
Maybe I was getting my hopes up, but Sephora has been doing some promoting for the movie "Divergent" and I got excited because I thought they would be selling a limited edition Divergent line of makeup. Anyone know anything about this? **fingers crossed**
I'm kind of stealing the eyeshadow inspiration board idea but focusing on colorful eyeliner. I was inspired by the UD 24/7 Glide-On pencil conversation. I think there are some people (including myself) who are just starting to, or would like to, branch out with colorful eyeliners such as blues, purples, or greens but are not exactly sure how to do that. Maybe some of you with more experience with colorful eyeliners would like to share ideas or even photos of how you wear them. For example, do you wear them just on the lower lashline for a pop of color or do you pair it with neutral makeup? ( I apologize if there's already a board like this. Feel free to post the link if there is )
So in a few weeks I'm attending my cousin's wedding. She's getting married in Texas, her fiance and his family are Texans, so naturally the wedding is "country" themed, and the color scheme is purple (and burlap...yeah, country). My style is, shall we say, more dramatic edging on goth, so naturally dressing down to appease the family is the order of the day. I couldn't find a purple dress that I liked so I figured I'd just work it into the makeup instead. Since I didn't want anything overly shocking but still somewhat interesting, I decided that I wanted to go with lavender eye makeup, along with a little bit of pastel purple glitter pressed on top (it's actually quite subtle, believe it or not, though I may just put it in the inner corner) and black liner. But past that I'm at a loss! What kind of blush or lip would work with that sort of eye without being too obnoxious? Plus it all needs to last and look good in pictures! Argh! Weddings take too much work, and I'm not even the one getting married! Any suggestions for colors or products would be appreciated! P.S. I'm very fair with strong yellow undertones, green-grey eyes and combo-oily skin. Good, long-wearing foundation suggestions would be great too, since the wedding will be several hours long *faints*
Hi all! Can you recommend me a makeup remover that removes everything and leaves nothing behind? I use the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, along with lipstick and waterproof eyeliner, and the other day, I rubbed makeup remover all over my face, rinsed it off, and just testing, swiped at my face with toner on a tissue. Nooo, there was still foundation on my face! I do double-cleanse, so I don't think I've been going to sleep with makeup on my face, but I still feel icky about it. In a perfect world, I'd like to remove everything without leaving a greasy feeling on my face. I currently use the Laneige Lip Eye Remover and the Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover, and they've both left makeup on my face with a greasy feeling.
