I posted something about this earlier, but it may have been confusing. For decades I thought I had round or protruding eyes. I definitely have prominent lids. I recently discovered (using the Smashbox YouTube video on eye shape) that my eyes would be what they consider to be downturned. I tried their recommendations for downturned eyes, but my lid is so big that their recommendations don't seem to do anything for me. I feel like I look pale and washed out with light shades on my lid and next to no eyeliner. Can anyone suggest an eye design for downturned eyes with prominent lids?
I'm going to post a picture of me without makeup. Because hey, I love makeup, but I'm also working on embracing my face au naturel, too. None of this "I'm not wearing makeup" when you're wearing a tinted moisturizer, brown mascara, and have a slight flush to your cheeks and lips. I'm talking no makeup AT ALL (No, not even clear lip balm). This is me, about 10 minutes out of the shower. Anyone else brave enough?
Hey Beauties- We have ALOT of threads around here for Tom Ford products. I figured I'd start one thread where we can update each other on items as they come out or we see them available. For all my UK'ers, or people willing to pay for shipping from the UK, Harrods has Softcore and Nude Dip from the Fall collection available right now. Happy Shopping!
I went into my local store just to browse the Surratt line. While I was there I decided to look at the Becca Complexion Creme. I already knew which color to select (Olive) when an associate came over and asked if I'd like to be color matched. I agreed. Boy, oh boy she said I had have red undertone. RED?! I didn't say anything, but when she said my match in Becca would be "mink", I did what "Miranda" did in Devil Wears Prada , and pursed my lips. Why such a big dispariety ? I am "Olive" in the particular formula. Lesson learned "don't always trust the color IQ",
In the spirit of all the other wonderful challenges on BT right now, I'm starting up a nail polish challenge for us. I have a ridiculous stash and I need to show my polish some love. With nail polish, once a day would be absurd (of course), so let's try and show off a new look and polish once a week. I'm personally going with manicures only, but if you'd rather do pedicures or even both go for it! I'm eager to see your collections and meet other polish junkies. It's past time for me to commit to using my stash! I want to buy the hourglass liquid to powder foundation but they don't sell it at the only sephora close to me. I've been trying to figure out a good match to order online. I wear light sand in the tarte clay 12 hr foundation if that helps at all. I have what I would say is light skin with yellow undertones. Any suggestions help ya'll. thanks so much!
Ok, so I've already tried two matches that obviously were way too orange and dark for my skin. I have used 2W2 and 2W1 but since my neck is way lighter than my super combination facial skin, you can always tell there's a huge difference. I'm almost a perfect MUFE #30 in their Matt Velvet...... which is a perfect shade but I don't think it compares to the EL. If someone could please help me out I would totally appreciate it! (I have yellow undertones!)
Hi everyone, I just recently got the Naked 3 palette. I know I'm late but I'm so indecisive about palettes since I don't always use all the colors but so far I love it. I'm wondering what are your favorite combinations of eye shadows from this palette or your favorite looks to create. There are so many beautiful colors I want to make sure I'm using them the best I can and combining them the best way possible. I'd love to hear all the ways you all use this palette!
What are some of your favorite base coats and tops coats? I generally like a strengthening base coat just to keep my nails strong and healthy. I recently finished off a Sephora by OPI one. Currently, I've been using Bridge the Ridge from Sally's Beauty Supply. I helps to fill in minor dents and ridges that can come up from time to time due to a rough glitter removal. At least that's what I use it for lol. It dries really fast and to a matte finish. I have a variety of topcoats. I use to use Seche Vite, but it can sometimes shrink polish and cause it to come off in whole pieces. Right now, I've been been using the Out The Door topcoat. I really like it! I also love my NYC Matte Me Crazy topcoat. It dries fast, and it's super durable! I was very surprised about that. I use my Cina Top Coat and bonder when I use nail art pieces, glitter or rhinestones.
have you ever had an a-ha moment after a very simple suggestion was thrown your way? i'm not talking years of practice leading to mastering the craft here. but rather when your makeup game changed for the better after a tiny tweak in technique and / or perspective. i was chatting with a friend about it, i realized i had a couple and thought it would be a cool thing to discuss here--for fun, and to share what could possibly be a-ha moments for others ! my first proper simple suggestion to how i approached makeup was years ago, but still after years of struggle to find a foundation that really did match my skin. a friend makeup artist told me i had neutral-to-yellow undertones (she also said 'olive but too pale to even tell'.... too pale to even tell will be the name of my memoirs ) and to try out japanese brand foundations. i eventually found bobbi brown, giorgio armani and nars, too, and that struggle was put to rest. my second ohhhhhh moment was relatively more recently, when i was advised to apply liner (particularly winged, liquid/gel liner) with my eyes open, rather than closed. this. changed. everything. for me. i'd always struggled because i have ever-so-slightly hooded eyes, and when i applied the perfect wing to closed eyes, everything was pointing the wrong way when i opened them. and with this simple suggestion, suddenly something i felt i'd never learn how to swing was remarkably easy and almost foolproof. same goes for eyeshadow (particularly in the crease) though to a lesser degree. how about you ??
I had a strange inkling something was up because the shades were constantly oos on the website. Now it is no longer listed on the website as a product being sold. Is it being reformulated or did they discontinue it?
So I currently bought the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and I love the color however I have noticed that it stains clothes and objects when my face is pressed against them even without trying to put pressure. I prime before all my other foundations and have never had a problem with my foundation transferring everywhere. I tried again the other day and I dusted some translucent setting powder but it only helped a little. What are some things you all do in order to avoid foundation from transferring?
Anyone been to one of these events before? Anyone going to the ones coming up? What can I expect? I searched "Meet the founder" but didn't see a thread, feel free to redirect me if I'm duplicating a post
I HAVE EXTREMELY THIN LIPS AND HAVE USED YOUR LIP PLUMP PRODUCTS, ETC. SINCE NO LIPSTICK WORKS FOR ME I HAVE JUST QUIT USING ANY COLOR ON MY LIPS. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW OR WHAT TO USE TO MAKE MY LIPS LOOK FULLER AND HENCE USE LIPSTICK OR GLOSS, ETC.?
Just curious, I thought I'd ask to see what makeup product others find themselves buying the most of. (For example, eyeshadows, mascaras, foundations, blushes... etc..) For myself, I am perpetually buying more lipstick than I probably need. It usually takes me forever to even finish ONE, but yet I still seem to be always looking at/buying more of them, haha! :-)
Does anyone else have an issue with their lip line being uneven due to dry skin? It kind of looks like I have tiny clogged pores but I think it's really just dry skin. I try to exfoliate on a regular basis but so far it's not working. Any suggestions on how to make it go away?
I wanted to try Hourglass Immaculate foundation because I heard so many good things about it and I have really oily skin. I went to Sephora and asked for help picking out my shade. The Sales rep put it on top of my makeup, which I had been wearing all day. It did look like a match so I bought the warm beige. But when I put it on the next day I was too orange. I agreed with her that I would get darker in summer but this is not even a natural color. So I went back and asked another sales rep to help me choose a color, this time she removed my makeup, although just on my jaw line and tried on honey, she said that was the right color. I looked and it did look better than my orange skin (yes I wore the makup again, to give it another try). So I got the honey. Now I've been wearing it for a few days and it is till orange. It is much lighter than the warm beige, but it is still not my color. I have olive skin does anyone have any suggestions?
I attended today's Rouge event in VA and for the life of me could not locate Stila. I asked a SA and was told Sephora would no longer be carrying the brand, with the exception of their black eyeliner (I'm not sure which formula). My friend in CA also noticed Stila was missing. Is Sephora phasing the brand out on a whole or was this just select stores? Should we be looking forward to some great Stila sales? I'm a bit disappointed, since I've recently started exploring the brand again! The Nouveau Natural Eye Shadow Palette is amazing! EDIT- We have our answer! Stila has been pulled from some stores, while others are still carrying it and the brand will still be available online
Generally I've been more of a natural lips kind of girl. I've gravitated to more glosses and balms and even when branched out to lipsticks, I've tended towards more neutral, wearable shades. Now I've decided I want to be more playful with my makeup, especially because I love purples. I picked up Bite Violet and absolutely love it. The color is super flattering with my skin tone and hair and just playful enough without going too crazy. BUT...I'm noticing when I go for a bolder lip color it seems to call attention to any imperfections in my skin. Has anyone noticed that as well? I'm feeling like maybe I might need a fuller coverage foundation for the days I want a bolder lip. Edited to add: When I've been wearing my violet lipstick I'm also wearing a full face of makeup (foundation, blush, smokey eye, brow makeup, etc.) so it isn't as if I'm bare faced with only lipstick.
Hi, I'm looking for a tried and true lip primer to especially use with the new Tom Ford lipsticks I just purchased? Specifically, I have some trouble spots on my lips that get so dry I pick at them and I'm finding that most primers that I like that are moisturizing tend to be too greasy and don't seem to do that matte lipstick colors enough justice. If it helps, I bought Pussycat and Ruby Rush. I also like wearing YSL lip stain, but don't feel like that lasts long on my lips with current primer. I'm currently using Napoleon's lip primer, and had previously tried Too Faced's primer and didn't like it. Any help is greatly appreciated - even if you have some curing suggestions for my lips, those would be helpful as well - I feel like I've tried everything under the sun. Neosporin, Softlips, Rose Salve, Chanel moisturizer, Dior's Lipglow, Kiehl's lip balm/ointment, and most recently Baume de Rose by Terry & Sugar lip treatment by Fresh. Shoot, I'm sure there's more - that's how bad it gets / I am! Thank you!
I currently wear Koh Gen Do's Aqua foundation in shade 213. I love everything about it, but it is getting too light for summer. What color would be one shade darker but still have the same yellow undertone?
Has anyone tried Bioderma Crealine H2O Solution Micellaire to remove eye makeup? I know it is harder to get in the US but ive heard great things about it I'm currently using the Clinique take the day off which i love BUT I use it daily so i go through it in about 2.5mons and they don't sell a size larger than a 4oz. And what about the Shisedio The Makeup Facial Cotton, worth the extra $?
So, I'm somewhat new to this whole makeup thing. I'm 20 years old, with fair, combination-oily skin. My cheeks tend to be red and sensitive also. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a foundation or bb cream for my skin, and also a light powder to finish it off. I've tried Clinique's almost powder and it seems to cake on my face, and shows every line. I'm looking for something that isn't extremely heavy on my face since it's almost summer. Also if you have any recommendations for a lip stain or lipstick that will stay put all day and not run, that would be great.
Oh man, I just received this in my email, and this is the first I'm seeing of it! I'm loving this collection! I'm a total NARS addict, and LE NARS is even more addicting! I already want the 'Starscape' blush, the eye duo, and the lilac multiple. Hopefully Sephora will get some of this for the summer as well... Anyone else as excited as I am?!
