I found an older thread I actually wanted to "bump" to the first page, but it has now been marked as read only, so I decided to start my own thread. I genuinely hope no one takes any offence to this, because I mean only to help others. It was not that long ago that I was new to BT myself! I have noticed there have been a lot of questions asked lately that have been asked hundreds of times before (ok that might be a slight exaggeration but not much of one!). So to all the new users, welcome to BT! There is a ton of useful information and threads to be found on BT. I hope that before posting you will all take the time to do a quick search and see if your question has been asked before! Even if the thread is older, commenting on it will bump it back to the main page so others will be able to see it and comment on it. Also, there is a "Follow This Thread" button to the right side of the thread. Clicking that button will ensure you get an e-mail when someone responds to the thread. This is a good way to be notified when someone responds to your question. For fast moving threads, you may find you are receiving too many messages, but you can easily unfollow the thread by clicking the button again, which will change to "Stop Following This Thread." We seem to be seeing so many repetitive questions such as "I have oily skin, what <insert product type here> should I use." Or "I have thinning hair, what products should I use." There are some incredibly educated and intelligent contributors with what seems like an endless amount of knowledge, so I encourage you (and I'm sure I'm not the only who does) to search before posting a thread if it's been asked a lot. I hope you understand my intent of this comment is not to discourage anyone from posting. By all means, that is not the case at all! Just keep in mind your question may already have been asked and answered! And if you don't find the answer to your question, then of course ask so we all can help. Just because a thread is older doesn't mean it's still not full of useful, legitimate information! When I first started using BT, several helpful people pointed out that I could search and find answers to questions that had already been asked. When I was a noob, I also found it very useful to read the posts on the Welcome/Getting Started pages. There is very helpful information here, such as community standards and how-to type posts. Please read up on these; they will be very helpful for you! If you're like me, you don't want to violate community standards or not know to do work the boards. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Welcome-Getting-St arted/bd-p/Welcome Here is the read-only thread I was referring to: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/An-ode-t o-the-search-feature/m-p/1210177#M85303 Here is something very useful for all of us to remember from the BT Guidelines: Best and worst practices WE LOVE WE DON’T LOVE Using a descriptive title for your posts. Using vague subject titles like “HELP!” Reading other responses before posting. Repeating information already provided. Asking for clarification when necessary. Making assumptions. Contributing to the discussion. Excessively quoting previous messages. Focusing on your areas of beauty expertise. Offering advice on unfamiliar topics. Being as concise as possible. Overwhelming readers with information. Trying to use correct spelling and grammar. Worrying if your spelling isn’t perfect. Staying on topic. Getting off topic. Remaining positive. Disparaging (insult) products or people. Trying to understand opposing viewpoints. Arguing with other posters. Being friendly! Using foul language or off-color humor. I'll climb down from my soapbox now. Enjoy your day and, again, welcome to BT! We're excited to have you!! Mods, if this is not posted in the right area, please move it to the appropriate place. I just hope it can be somewhere that it shows up on the main page, so many can see it!
I am going to a Bat Mitzvah with a Great Gatsby Theme tomorrow. I went to a vintage shop and bought some open toed sandal type heels, a black maxi dress and even some jewelry (yes, I am going to wear jewelry). It is silver toned (the gold looked too gaudy) with pearls, of course. Any ideas on hair and makeup? I am definitely going to do red polish and lipstick (have not picked the actual lipstick yet but am thinking it should be matte, right)? I even stopped by Inglot tonight to play and got some eyelash glue (she suggested black over clear) for the false lashes I received in the Glitz and Glam kit. I've never worn falsies before, so I would appreciate any tips on application or removal please.
Winter is almost here and I definitely need to switch to a foundation with a dewier finish. Last winter I used Japonesque Luminous and it was fine...not as dewy as I would have liked. So, do you have a fave? Tell me about it! It doesn't matter if it can't be found at Sephora and cost is not a big concern. I need to get to a Dior counter to get a sample of Star. But I've read that it may be more matte than I'd like.
my eyes are uneven, my left one is a bit (maybe 1mm) lower than my right. sometimes people don't notice unless i tell them, sometimes they do. i'm really insecure about it so i can never look at anyone in the eyes for too long cuz i'm scared they'll notice. what can i do to fix this?
I've been trying out the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque. I love how well it conceals my (very) dark circles, but it needs setting with a powder, otherwise it just never dries and smudges off throughout the day. I never set my makeup with powders, and don't really want to introduce another step into my routine just for a corrector. Are there any concealers out there that have that pink tone that act like correctors? I usually use the Nars creamy concealer in Vanilla, but I find that it just highlights my undereye area. Does that mean I should just change my concealer colour to a darker pink one?
I went to ULTA yesterday and purchased one of the new IT Cosmetics Angled Blush Brushes and I have no idea how to use it. The girl helping me wasn't very friendly so I didn't ask her for any more help. I also can't seem to find a video on how to use an angled brush, so any help would be great. Thanks!
Have you guys seen these?! There are tons of shades and finishes to choose from, and you can build your own palette! I can't wait to try these; I wonder if Sephora will carry all of the shades? There are so many and I'd really like to go in and test a good chunk of them. http://www.sephora.com/artist-shadow-P387670?skuId =1622745
I am just now getting into wearing false lashes, even bought a lot of them recently. I love how they make my eyes look with that POP! Now here is the problem, I have been using Bimatoprost since May and my lashes are long, but not the Latisse long. I use the lashes to enhance more, but the glue(s) I use do work but some how burn my eyes a little...I don't know if its my allergies which isn;t too bad but the burning feel is not pleasant. I used Duo with vit A,C D Revlon's supplied glue that came with lashes..Eyelure now could it be because of the lash serum that could be affecting and causing the semi-burning feeling. No my eyes don;t turn red at all. Just that annoying feeling. thanks..any recommendations/advice is extremely welcomed. I love my lashes and don;t want to part with them...
How do you all feel about contouring and highlighting? Do you all like it or do u think it's over rated and looks fake? I think it looks good on some people but on others it can look really un natural, I really think it just depends on how people do their contouring and how they like it
Does anyone have any tips for applying the KVD foundation? I finally broke down and bought a beauty blender. When I did the bouncing or stippling it seemed to just cause the foundation to cake. I love this foundation but I swear it is so moody sometimes when applying. Any tips?
Hi all =) I tried finding previous topic on this but unable to so any link to previous post or if you have answer will be greatly appreciated ^__^ My face is really dry right now so I started to wear moisturizer and/or oil under my primer. I tried several combination with different result: - moisturizer (caudalie lip and eye and ole henriksen truth creme/ origin day ginzing), smahbox primer, bb cream, then smashbox powder. I find using thosse moisturizer makes my face darker than it was before, resulting in my neck being much lighter than my face (so no good =I) - tarte oil, smahbox primer, bb cream, then smashbox powder. Using this, my face so much streak it's not even funny.Applying powder makes it better but I spend so much time trying to get my bb cream to blend from the ugly streaks =( With winter coming, I know there will be time to use moisturizer under makeup. Do you guys have any recommendation for moisturizer that won't change the color of my makeup? I'm pretty happy with my makeup routine right now but any recommendation for anything that should be change would be appreciated. Thanks =)
Hi guys! I've been looking for a lipstick/stain that has a nice matte look to it preferably preferably dark tones such as deep red or purples. Also, one that lasts long or would last long with a lip primer. Any suggestions? Thank!
I posted a previous post about starting a traveling box with samples and deluxe samples and a few ladies were interested in doing one! This is the 1st traveling box I am apart of and of course the 1st that I am starting. So, we need to decide if we are going to do a medium or small flat rate box. RULES No used items. No open items DO NOT take more than you put in. Let's keep this fun and fair DO NOT take multiples of the same sample PLEASE try not to keep the box more than 3 days Make sure to send your address to the person listed above you Once you send the box off, post the tracking number in this thread ALL unused items allowed (well maybe not nail polishes if it will make the shipping costs go up) Post a pic of what you take out, what you put in and what is left in the box before you send it off We are going to have fun and try to keep this going as long as we can! If you are interested in being in the box, I have a few spots left so post a pic of what samples you have in this thread to be added. To start off, we are only going to have 10 people! 1. CuriousCannibal 2. MegEm 3.MLLECC 4. tessie84 5. Kittichick 6. NicoleFrat 7. NightKnight 8. Sweetxteeth 9. Nishcakes 10. Kariyava
Zadidoll just posted this find from Urban Decay's website and I have to say I'm smitten. $39 and not yet for sale on their website, but I'm sure it will be available soon. Assuming it will also be available on Sephora at some point? The set contains six deluxe minis with three new shades, Ladyflower (bright rose-pink), Crush and Illicit (sheer baby pink) and three bestsellers Gash, Liar and F-Bomb. Also included is a full-size 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone. What do you think?
I am looking at getting the Becca pressed highlighter in Opal (since I am very pale), and am also looking at getting a new blush. What are all of your favorite brands/blushes? I am Estee Lauder DW 1n1, have medium brown hair and blue eyes so if any of you can give any color suggestions for me, that would be very helpful as well! thank you all in advanced! -amanda
Okay, since this is a Sephora board, I'm sticking with the popular brands of make-up that are sold at Sephora. What words, terms, concepts do you associate with the following brands? It doesn't matter if your associations are logical, rational or completely batsh!t crazy - what do YOU think of when you think of the following brands? I'll do mine in a separate post to keep things clean for copy/paste purposes. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Bare Minerals - BECCA - Benefit - BITE - Bobbi Brown - Buxom - Clinique - Cover FX - Dior - Estee Lauder - Givenchy - Guerlain - Hourglass - Kat Von D - Lancome - Laura Mercier - MAKE UP FOR EVER - Marc Jacobs - NARS - Smashbox - Stila - Tarte - Too Faced - Urban Decay - YSL - I think I got almost all of the common ones talked about on this board... but if you don't have any thoughts on any of them, feel free to leave them blank or ? or whatever... it's just for fun to see how people view things differently! Also it's Friday and this is definitely a fun time-killer and a version of a Friday Questions!
Eff! I have a feeling the $50 Louboutin red nail polish will end up at my house. I don't hoard cheapie polishes so it's okay to splurge on a luxury beauty product, right? Sephora will be getting it around August 6th if I remember correctly. http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?p roductId=P388556&om_mmc=oth-tum-20140723-Louboutin
Does anyone know a drug store dupe for the lorac pro liner? I'm looking for a dupe I can use everyday since I go through the pens rather quickly. I'm looking for a similar tip that is soft. I've tried the NYX fat eye marker but it too hard and drags on my eyelids. The best dupe I've tried is physician's formula but I'm looking for other options.
Hello Everyone! I was recently going through my lippy stash to clear out any old or used up items and this I was left with. Please feel free to share your current lip stash and help brighten everyone's day with some pretty pictures Thanks!
