C'mon, let's admit it, we've all hidden make-up or made up what we use to our family. Remember the days for some of us where we had to pretend we didn't wear make-up and we put a lipstick under the bed so mom wouldn't see? Or lied about how much you've spent? Welcome to: Make-Up Confessions! (Just please don't tell my grandma about my extensive Guerlain collection! I think she may have saw the packaging though...) My grandma prefers I use cheaper make-up from drugstores... oh man, that VIB card is not going to make her happy...
I have recently been reading an article that said wearing blue eyeshadow makes you look like a clown so NEVER wear blue eye shadow. So no blue eye shadow at ALL! Well I highly disagree with this. Blue is a graceful color. If you wear it and put it on right it won't make you look like a clown! I wear blue eyeshadow when its night time.
I was on Reddit's Makeup Addiction and user MyLittleLabMonkey posted a sneak preview of the new Too Faced Summer Collection. I didn't find a previous discussion on it, so sorry if it's a repost! All I could find is that the launch date is in April. First pics are from reddit, the last one I found on a UK site. I just got my Sephora order with the Chocolate Bar palette and the Stila 100 point lippie... And they both look used. The Chocolate Bar had one of the pans popped out, and all the rest have smudges of other colors on them and look like there have been fingers wiped across them. The Stila lippie is squashed and there's color all down the side of the tube! What the heck, Sephora?!
I feel eye shadow is the most universal item. So many colors, brand, prices. But, even if eye shadow is not your favorite you crave more. Last year I bought stila in the lights, Bh cosmetics's party girl. Now I want Too Face Chocolate Bar, The Divergent Multi collection, Naked Basics, Naked 3. Anyone else have a hard time finding a reason for more.
I know better than to let anyone at Sephora do any makeup services on me, but I had a moment of weakness yesterday, and I let them do my eye makeup and apply false lashes. I am 50 years old, and you just cannot put eye makeup on me like you would on an 18 or 25 year old. I walked out of there looking like an aging circus clown, and I honestly looked freakish. It made me feel so old, ugly, and depressed. Also, the lighting in-store was so poor that I could not see the full result of just how freakish it was until I walked out into the sunlight. I really wish that Sephora would be a little more sensitive to the needs of us older gals. I doubt that will ever happen, because I see such a reluctance for them to even add a mature skin section to this forum even after several of us have requested it. I am not even sure what I am expecting from posting this, but I just feel so awful and traumatized today. The whole experience just left me feeling so badly about myself and aging
I'd love to know what you gals (or maybe guys) use or suggest as a primer. In addition to longevity I'm looking something with a smoothing effect for pores and baby wrinkles. I am finishing up my Stila color correcting primer which did nothing for my slight redness but it def gave staying power. I had been waiting for months for sephora to restock illamasqua hydra veil buttttt it seems like they won't be restocking it at all. And I don't want to pay the ridiculous taxes and shipping to have it sent from the UK. I was looking at the Clarins or too faced. Any suggestions??
I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
So I've accumulated a decent collection of brushes and have started to wonder when/how would you use each of them. I mean I know the powder brush, the eyeliner brush and the crease brush, but aside from that..... What are your favorite brush brands? or which brand for which type? - Absolutely love the round Sephora concealer brush - Like Real Technique Expert Face brush for foundation, even better than the US one, mostly because it's a tad less dense and easier to clean. What type of brush do you use most often? eyeshadow, crease, smudge, eyeliner, stippling, fan, round powder, domed, angled? - I usually use an eyeshadow or crease brush to dust on 1 or 2 shadows and that's it (along with eyeliner and curled lashes). - For face I usually use round powder brush for everything, sometimes fan brush for pigmented blush/bronzer. Tips for using brushes? - I just got into foundation recently, and for the life of me cannot get un-streaky finish with the flat foundation brush, so I always put a little foundation on back of my hand and pick up a little with a dense round brush then dust on with short strokes. It gives me a more natural finish, and I use less. o.O And lastly, has anyone tried Japonesque brushes? I fell in love with their Safari Chic collection. .
My name is Bombshell and I continue to be an eyeshadow addict enthusiast !! However, five weeks ago I began a quest to actually start using my mountains and mountains of palettes and shadows. Along with some awesome ladies who have joined in I have committed to using the same palette 5 days in a row and posting the results at the end of five days. Those with single shadows are welcome to join in as well! If you are interested in the original rules & lists posted they can be found in off topic, (take the challenge: palette parade). the gist of it is make a list, plan to show all your shadows love for extended period of time (5days), if you hate it first day move on. I am also planning to add weeks of singles by brand (Stila week, UD week, Nars week). I think instead of posting and editing lists it would be easier to report what we plan to use at the beginning of the week and the report the results at the end. We meet here at the end of the week to discuss what we wore for the week, how it worked for us and most importantly to share pictures and advice! Anyone can join as we all started at different times and have different numbers of palettes, and will finish at different times. I am looking at 38 (?) more weeks if I don't buy one more palette! Xoxo I look forward to more fun parading with all you girls! Palette Parade Princesses: CalamityJane85, Nikki, LadyMeag, Beethousand, AmberAngeline, MaFan, nurseCupcake, Carolang, Jenblush, Malday, Sparlekai, GHKim, IttyxBittyxMe, Katie241, SirenPrincess, Manniface.
I am in a desperate search for this in shade #42. I'm getting ready to relocate to Singapore and even though there are Sephora stores there, I want this to take with me to cut down on the stress of finding the store and then locating this shade. Since I have seen inquiries about this particular shade so much on Sephora....why was it discontinued????
I've had my eyes on the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighter for a while and I really want to go ahead and purchase one of the shades. I'm in between moonstone and opal. If any of you have these highlighters let me know your opinion on them. I have very fair skin, which of the 2 would work best for me?
So, last weekend a couple of friends and I decided to go to a bar/club in town to hang out. I got way dolled up and, in the process, discovered a new style of lipstick application that I love! And to be frank, I discovered in completely by accident while trying to decide what color to wear. So, I'm wondering, does anyone else wear this style occasionally? (Weird and awkward selfie included to show off what I mean! Not to mention, I'm a camera queen. )
There was someone who was going to do a foils/small sample TSB. I do not believe that person is still going to do it. If they are, I apologize and will not do one. I have been in two boxes and loved it but I have never started one. If anyone is still interested, I am willing to try to start one. We can use the same rules from the other TSB. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Also we need to decide if we want to do this with a small flat rate box (I believe shipping is around $6.00) or a medium flat rate box (I believe shipping is around 13.00). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! This box is open for US shipping only. Shipping becomes more expensive for Canada. Once we decide if we want to do a small or medium box I will post pics of what I will start the box out with. If at that time someone decides they don't like what I am starting the box out with just let me know. I want this to be fun for all. Once I get the box back I will go through it & give the leftover items to the local youth group who works with the homeless shelters in Fredericksburg VA. Calling all palette addicts! Considering a LOT of us all have the same ones, let's swap some of our best "recipes"! I do with some non BT friends and we have a blast. It's just a great way to get and share ideas or try something you might not have thought of! It's also fun to see how the same thing can look different on someone else. Ok, this needs to be done. Starting this thread has been mentioned before, but I'm taking the leap. Below, I'll start a list of commonly mispronounced beauty brands, so please comment if you want to correct me or add another brand. This is for all you perfectionists out there! Eleven new WG brushes coming to Beautylish! The Face Set: $265, available in March And the Eye Set: $148, available in April Whyyyy...I totally can not afford these right now, but I am certain that I will buy at least a few individual brushes!
Hi! I would like a recomendation to choose a foundation for my wedding day! It will be taking place in the summer, so I need something to stick on my face but still look like myself. I have combination skin, and a little bit of redness. And im pretty sure it will be hot that day, so I dont want to be oily-shiny. Hope you can help me!! I was thinking about studio skin 15 hour wear foundation, but im not pretty sure! I linked a photo of myself so you can have an idea, I have make up on, and the other one with the pink t-shirt with no makeup at all HEEEELP!
I find that when I do my makeup shopping. I tend to always buy purple shades in shadows, liners, and crayons. I don't know why that is, but it's my go to color. So I want to know what's everyone go to color? What draws you in over and over.
A couple times a week...... I guess Sephora has a way of doing this to me. I just ordered on Saturday because I noticed the Sephora favorite mascara set was back in stock. Then today I get an email for a set of 3 Origin products. Please tell me I'm not alone and you all do this too
I recently had my color IQ captured at a store and I am a 1Y02. One of the matches that comes up is for Marc Jacobs Beauty Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation in Color 12 Ivory - for very fair complexion w/pink to beige undertone. I think I might like to try Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation, but the colors are listed without the nice descriptors like the Mousse variety. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what color would be the closest match? Thanks in advance for your advice!
