Maybe I was getting my hopes up, but Sephora has been doing some promoting for the movie "Divergent" and I got excited because I thought they would be selling a limited edition Divergent line of makeup. Anyone know anything about this? **fingers crossed**
Hello pretty ladies, Back with another question to see what all you wonderful minds have to suggest. I really like using gel liners because i find it gives me the most natural look - but no matter how I apply it, it smudges all under my eye and on the corners despite the fact not using much If I tightline my eyes with a gel liner it's a no no and smudges within MINUTES!! I have oily lids so things easily move around - with my stila liquid liner it stay puts all day but sometimes I find it is just a bit too much for an everyday thing. I've tried gel liners from tarte, bobbi brown, smash box and god knows what and none of them worked - I've been using a Korean brand which has proven to have better "smudge proof" quality. I still want to know more options. I know probably a pencil option may be good - so any suggestions? Stila? Urban Decay? How do I get my gel liners not to travel down to my lower lid and smudge all over my under eye area and the corners of my eyes!!! It's driving me nuts.
Hi all! Can you recommend me a makeup remover that removes everything and leaves nothing behind? I use the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, along with lipstick and waterproof eyeliner, and the other day, I rubbed makeup remover all over my face, rinsed it off, and just testing, swiped at my face with toner on a tissue. Nooo, there was still foundation on my face! I do double-cleanse, so I don't think I've been going to sleep with makeup on my face, but I still feel icky about it. In a perfect world, I'd like to remove everything without leaving a greasy feeling on my face. I currently use the Laneige Lip Eye Remover and the Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover, and they've both left makeup on my face with a greasy feeling.
Ok, this needs to be done. Starting this thread has been mentioned before, but I'm taking the leap. Below, I'll start a list of commonly mispronounced beauty brands, so please comment if you want to correct me or add another brand. This is for all you perfectionists out there! Borghese: bore-GAY-zeh Boscia: BOE-sha Bourjois: boor-zjwah Chanel: shun-NELL Chantecaille: shahn-tuh-KAI Clinique: clih-NEEK Estee Lauder: EHS-tay LAH-der Givenchy: zjee-VON-shee Guerlain: gare-LAHN Jouer: zjoo-EH Laura Mercier: LOH-rah mehr-see-AE (r is a French nasal r) Lancome: lahn-comb L'Occitane en Provence: LOHX-ee-tahn uhn pro-VAHNCE NYX: nix Ole Henriksen: OO-lah ON-rick-son Omorovicza: oh-more-oh-VEET-sah Shiseido: shih-SAY-doh Shu Uemura: SHOO oo-eh-MOO-rah Stila: STEE-lah Yves Saint Laurent: EVE sahn loh-RAHN Feel proud if you've been saying them right! We're all pretty much brand snobs here, be it Neutrogena or Tom Ford. Also, the French people are annoying. Most of these brands are French!
Eleven new WG brushes coming to Beautylish! The Face Set: $265, available in March And the Eye Set: $148, available in April Whyyyy...I totally can not afford these right now, but I am certain that I will buy at least a few individual brushes!
Hi! I would like a recomendation to choose a foundation for my wedding day! It will be taking place in the summer, so I need something to stick on my face but still look like myself. I have combination skin, and a little bit of redness. And im pretty sure it will be hot that day, so I dont want to be oily-shiny. Hope you can help me!! I was thinking about studio skin 15 hour wear foundation, but im not pretty sure! I linked a photo of myself so you can have an idea, I have make up on, and the other one with the pink t-shirt with no makeup at all HEEEELP!
Can you help me add some color? The pic here is how I typically wear my makeup- I usually wear grey or brown. Naked 2 is my go-to palette, but amusingly enough I'm not wearing it in this pic. In this pic I am wearing Urban Decay Foxy (base) Sephora Collection Berlin Underground (matte grey) Urban Decay Mushroom (grey shimmer) MAC Haux (matte brownish rose) If you added color to my look, what color? How would you do it?
I just wanted to give you all a heads up if you have really sensitive eyes like I do. I'm getting a weird reaction to this remover. When I wake up the next morning, my eyes are all gunky and they hurt. I mean, really hurt. I switched back to my Neutrogena Oil Free Makeup Remover, and it works well and doesn't affect my eyes. And it's cheap to boot! http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?k eyword=makeup%20forever%20makeup%20remover&skuId=9 ...
Hey everyone! The Balm is on Haute Look today. I was waiting with bated breath for the little notice it was live and immediately headed over there and got an item or two. The selection is nice- eye shadows, lipsticks, conceal ours. On my quest for copper shadows, I ended up finding 1 there that may work! happy makeup shopping!
I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
This may sound like kind of a weird question. I have a few lashes that tend to annoy me. When I'm not wearing mascara, I'll have a few lashes to hang down and poke me in the eye, but they're not ready to fall out or anything. Sometimes when I am wearing mascara, a lash or two may hang into my eye if I missed coating it. On other occasions, if a few aren't hanging into my eyes, it is placed at a weird angle. If I try to move it back, it'll go back to its weird angle. (and I am talking about real lashes) I can't stand having anything in my eyes (OCD thing; there's no way I could wear contacts if I ever needed them). If I feel like something is there, I'll use a mirror and search for whatever the cause is, and it is often my misbehaving lashes. I tried my best to take pictures to kind of illustrate my problem. I hope I don't sound too crazy or anything. Has anyone else been annoyed at an issue like this? Do certain mascaras cause it or anything? Maybe there's a different mascara I should try? This is my right eye, makeup free. Towards the left, there's a lash that is touching the bottom ones, and a few towards the middle top are kind of down. Please ignore the need to pluck. This one shows it a bit better. There's also a lash on the left side doing its own thing, along with the one that pokes my lower lash line. Super annoying. My left eye isn't as bad as my right one at the moment. There's one lash that tends to do its own thing while the lashes at the outer corner sometimes curl differently compared to the right eye.
I am 45 and already post menopausal. I live in Florida where it is humid. I have nice skin but do have some face lines and a few sun damage spots. I have been wearing a powder foundation (aloette). I have liked it because it is light but still provides decent coverage. However I feel that it may be accentuating my fine lines and seems to not last all day. I need a mid 40's makeover. What make up will work well for my climate and changing skin type and hormones? I don't want to look heavily made up but I still want coverage to blend my imperfections. I also have hot flashes so I sweat periodically which is a problem with make up. I am ready to try something entirely new but feel overwhelmed with choices.
Hey ladies, I was called a brand snob yesterday. I can't help that I like pretty things like gold packaging! I don't know, I think the gold and luxury beauty products look so pretty on your vanity, but of course I buy drugstore too (Milani, revlon, ect). I was really offended by this because I buy all types of makeup from different places and it was my MOM that called me a brand snob. Have you ever been called that before? I've had this issue with my mom before with other things too. I don't know I spend my own money on this stuff and I like to treat myself (and I actually use it) so I don't know why she has a problem with how I spend my money.
I'm looking for a good, long lasting, nail polish. I can't seem to keep polish on for more than a day without chipping. I prep my nails every time before painting them and there are still chips the next day. I have gel polish but I'm looking for a regular nail polish. So what are your favorite brands and colors? Thanks for the help!
I'm fair, (shade Alabaster in Clinique), and am looking for a foundation that does NOT get darker once applied. I've tried Clinique, MUFE, Smashbox, and Laura Mercier. All of them look beautiful when first applied, but give it some time and holy darkness Batman! Can anyone suggest a foundation that actually stays true to it's color??
There was someone who was going to do a foils/small sample TSB. I do not believe that person is still going to do it. If they are, I apologize and will not do one. I have been in two boxes and loved it but I have never started one. If anyone is still interested, I am willing to try to start one. We can use the same rules from the other TSB. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Also we need to decide if we want to do this with a small flat rate box (I believe shipping is around $6.00) or a medium flat rate box (I believe shipping is around 13.00). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! This box is open for US shipping only. Shipping becomes more expensive for Canada. Once we decide if we want to do a small or medium box I will post pics of what I will start the box out with. If at that time someone decides they don't like what I am starting the box out with just let me know. I want this to be fun for all. Once I get the box back I will go through it & give the leftover items to the local youth group who works with the homeless shelters in Fredericksburg VA. Ever since Urban Decay was bought out my L'Oreal (Grrrrrr) I've been quite confused as to what brands sold at Sephora do and don't test on animals. Could someone please let me know what brands do and don't test on animals? This also includes third party testing, being owned by a parent company that tests on animals (which is Urban Decay's case with L'Oreal) and whether or not the brand sells their products in China (which because of their government requires animal testing). Does Boscia test on animals? Only brand that I know of that for sure doesn't test is Tarte and while I like a lot of their products...not all of them work for me and I don't like buying drugstore makeup (though granted it IS cheaper...but only because you can't test the products out in the store before you buy them).
For whatever reason I'm just not able to tell the difference. For those who have tried both which do you find to be the better performer? I've tried UD, Skindinavia, and Ben Nye Final Seal and found Ben Nye to be the best. However, an artist told me it's not meant for everyday use so I'm trying to move on. I picked up the KvD when it finally restocked last month, but I have a short memory and don't know if it's any better than the UD version. Thoughts?
I'm so sad, I just returned 2 things today like right AFTER I bought them in the store (yes, TODAY), I can't take this back now. Maybe I put it on too heavy, after all I don't have an eyebrow brush yet. Had to use an angled eyeliner until my Anastasia one comes because it's sold out here.
I'm not very familiar with different makeup brands and I'm looking for something with natural or organic ingredients. I'm open to a wide price range. I'm not looking for any specific products, but I'm definitely open to any suggestions! In addition I'm looking for a natural self-tanner. Thank you in advance!! Have a wonderful day!
So, I have always struggled with doing any kind of eye make up and tonight I was watching some tutorials and I realized that I have no idea what "approach" to take with eye make up because I have silly half white/half asian eyes that are very confused about their identity. I would say that I have a hooded eye, as you can see in picture 1...but when I open my eye more (picture two, although it is not the best picture of this), I actually also have a fairly well defined crease. So...how do I apply eye make up to my crazy eyes? Is there a name for this shape to look up tutorials? I feel like whenever I start applying anything other than a neutral wash, things start to fall apart because my eyes crease in 2 places. I think because of that, I have trouble blending/applying colors, so any and all tips you guys have would be really appreciated!!
I just ordered this from Ulta. I haven't seen any reviews on it although Musings of a Muse had it on her site, but it was just so cute and I love cream shadows. I've always been pleased with Cargo products, and I was in the mood to buy a new palette but none of the powder palettes were doing it for me, so this was perfect! I'll let you know how I like it!
