C'mon, let's admit it, we've all hidden make-up or made up what we use to our family. Remember the days for some of us where we had to pretend we didn't wear make-up and we put a lipstick under the bed so mom wouldn't see? Or lied about how much you've spent? Welcome to: Make-Up Confessions! (Just please don't tell my grandma about my extensive Guerlain collection! I think she may have saw the packaging though...) My grandma prefers I use cheaper make-up from drugstores... oh man, that VIB card is not going to make her happy...
I was on Reddit's Makeup Addiction and user MyLittleLabMonkey posted a sneak preview of the new Too Faced Summer Collection. I didn't find a previous discussion on it, so sorry if it's a repost! All I could find is that the launch date is in April. First pics are from reddit, the last one I found on a UK site. I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
What happened to the Make Up Forever lip shade finder? I used it previously to find the most perfect neutral shade for me in the Aqua Rouge line. I'd like to get a darker, more burgundy-ish shade now since I know I LOVE the Aqua Rogue, but the shade finder seems to have disappeared. Help! Thanks!!
So, last weekend a couple of friends and I decided to go to a bar/club in town to hang out. I got way dolled up and, in the process, discovered a new style of lipstick application that I love! And to be frank, I discovered in completely by accident while trying to decide what color to wear. So, I'm wondering, does anyone else wear this style occasionally? (Weird and awkward selfie included to show off what I mean! Not to mention, I'm a camera queen. )
My name is Bombshell and I continue to be an eyeshadow addict enthusiast !! However, five weeks ago I began a quest to actually start using my mountains and mountains of palettes and shadows. Along with some awesome ladies who have joined in I have committed to using the same palette 5 days in a row and posting the results at the end of five days. Those with single shadows are welcome to join in as well! If you are interested in the original rules & lists posted they can be found in off topic, (take the challenge: palette parade). the gist of it is make a list, plan to show all your shadows love for extended period of time (5days), if you hate it first day move on. I am also planning to add weeks of singles by brand (Stila week, UD week, Nars week). I think instead of posting and editing lists it would be easier to report what we plan to use at the beginning of the week and the report the results at the end. We meet here at the end of the week to discuss what we wore for the week, how it worked for us and most importantly to share pictures and advice! Anyone can join as we all started at different times and have different numbers of palettes, and will finish at different times. I am looking at 38 (?) more weeks if I don't buy one more palette! Xoxo I look forward to more fun parading with all you girls! Palette Parade Princesses: CalamityJane85, Nikki, LadyMeag, Beethousand, AmberAngeline, MaFan, nurseCupcake, Carolang, Jenblush, Malday, Sparlekai, GHKim, IttyxBittyxMe, Katie241, SirenPrincess, Manniface.
So I've accumulated a decent collection of brushes and have started to wonder when/how would you use each of them. I mean I know the powder brush, the eyeliner brush and the crease brush, but aside from that..... What are your favorite brush brands? or which brand for which type? - Absolutely love the round Sephora concealer brush - Like Real Technique Expert Face brush for foundation, even better than the US one, mostly because it's a tad less dense and easier to clean. What type of brush do you use most often? eyeshadow, crease, smudge, eyeliner, stippling, fan, round powder, domed, angled? - I usually use an eyeshadow or crease brush to dust on 1 or 2 shadows and that's it (along with eyeliner and curled lashes). - For face I usually use round powder brush for everything, sometimes fan brush for pigmented blush/bronzer. Tips for using brushes? - I just got into foundation recently, and for the life of me cannot get un-streaky finish with the flat foundation brush, so I always put a little foundation on back of my hand and pick up a little with a dense round brush then dust on with short strokes. It gives me a more natural finish, and I use less. o.O And lastly, has anyone tried Japonesque brushes? I fell in love with their Safari Chic collection. .
I was interested in buying Duo false eyelash glue, until I noticed latex was the second ingredient. I'm allergic to latex and I feel scared of putting something with it on the sensitive eye area. Do any of you beauties know any falsies or falsie glue without latex?
This is a small Indie cosmetics company, and I'm currently lusting after their Arcane Magic Eye Shadows. They're these loose eyeshadows that are very sparkly and get this; THEY CHANGE COLOR. Depending on the angle and lighting, these shadows will change in color. Now in theory, that means they'll change to lighter colors when light is hitting them, therefore they will darken by themselves in the creases. This would mean that the days of using a billion colors and shades to do eyeshadow are gone because the shadow would adjust its shade and color to match your contours. Here's the link: http://www.fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId =14 Apparently their fairy epoxy primer/glue is very good too. A lot of bloggers rave about it.
I just got my Sephora order with the Chocolate Bar palette and the Stila 100 point lippie... And they both look used. The Chocolate Bar had one of the pans popped out, and all the rest have smudges of other colors on them and look like there have been fingers wiped across them. The Stila lippie is squashed and there's color all down the side of the tube! What the heck, Sephora?!
I think I saw a couple of people here on BT looking for the Anastasia Lavish Palette but couldnt because it was sold out everywhere. I follow ABH on Instagram and she mentioned she will be restocking this palette in limited quantities sometime soon. So if you want it, get on instagram and follow her so you can get it as soon as its re-released before it sells out again!
I've been under the impression that: olive undertones are green peach are more red olive undertones are the darker version of yellow undertones Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm having a hard time finding my undertone. I've done the inner wrist test and my veins are blue but cool foundations do not match my face at all. Foundations with olive undertones look green on my skin, so I'm guessing I'm either yellow or golden, but I'm not really sure what the difference is. I've gone to get matched at the store several times but the color is always wrong.
I don't know why i have been obsessing over nail colors lately. My best friend is a triplet and their birthdays just passed so we went to get our nails done ( I was boring and got a french tip) but they went all out with the colors. So it got me thinking "Hmmm I need to stop being boring," haha so I'm thinkin about the Ciate "pool party" color whenever i get rid of my current man/pedi, what about y'all?
My Guerlain foundation is a serial oxidizer! I use Tenue de Perfection and without a primer, I STILL LOOK LIKE SNOOKI. I went from shade 23 to 04 (ok, not much of a difference there), but it'll look fine with a primer (me thinks) I only got a few days to exchange (stupid online orders!) and I'm looking at the Joli Teint. Should I give my Tenue de Perfection another chance or switch out? This is the second oxidation problem since I had Lingerie de Peau. Joli Teint is new. I'm getting into fights because I really A. plan to get it for Chic Week or I have to use my VIB intro coupon that I saved from last year. Plus Joli Teint seems better in terms of formulation. It's lighter coverage...
Hello everyone, I need some help my grandparents are coming over from Korea and I was thinking of sending some gifts for some cousins and aunts on their way back.. I thought lipsticks/lip glosses were a reasonable choice because they're light weight, is small in volume, and isn't overly expensive... but I have like zero knowledge about lip products.. I'm more of a foundation and eyeliner junkie ..and I don't wear lipsticks/gloss or even balm.. so I honestly don't know what to look for in lip products - which qualities are characterized as being "good" and which are "bad".. I don't mind the brand, but I do want it to be a good quality.. and not overly expensive.. because I'm buying at least 5~7. I tried going to the lipstick section on sephora website and line them in order of "rating" and got Nars, Dior, Sephora, givenchy, Laura Mercier, etc but that's too many options.. I was also thinking about Marc jacobs because they don't have that brand in Korea.. also, most of my family (especially younger ones in 20s) are pretty pale.. like YSL touche eclat BR10 ish.. and m y aunts are a tad bit darker with yellow undertones. please help one of my cousins is into Mac's Korean candy.. reddish glowy orange color (from what I see online.. not in person) is there any "better quality" lipstick that has the same color? I read somewhere that they settle in fine lines of the lips..
I have recently been reading an article that said wearing blue eyeshadow makes you look like a clown so NEVER wear blue eye shadow. So no blue eye shadow at ALL! Well I highly disagree with this. Blue is a graceful color. If you wear it and put it on right it won't make you look like a clown! I wear blue eyeshadow when its night time.
I know better than to let anyone at Sephora do any makeup services on me, but I had a moment of weakness yesterday, and I let them do my eye makeup and apply false lashes. I am 50 years old, and you just cannot put eye makeup on me like you would on an 18 or 25 year old. I walked out of there looking like an aging circus clown, and I honestly looked freakish. It made me feel so old, ugly, and depressed. Also, the lighting in-store was so poor that I could not see the full result of just how freakish it was until I walked out into the sunlight. I really wish that Sephora would be a little more sensitive to the needs of us older gals. I doubt that will ever happen, because I see such a reluctance for them to even add a mature skin section to this forum even after several of us have requested it. I am not even sure what I am expecting from posting this, but I just feel so awful and traumatized today. The whole experience just left me feeling so badly about myself and aging
Has anyone tried this? Im on my looongest no buy challenge, and i really dont want to repurchase my beloved benefit porefessional . i have combination skin and most of the ingredients are similiar,do you think this is a good alternative for benefit?
For years I have been using the Sephora 2 Maui bronzer. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to a bronzer of equal depth just a little less orange? I would like a little browner bronze but I don't want to look dirty. Any suggestions? Thanks
I'm looking to purchase the tarte foundation + brush kit on QVC and I've noticed they have a smaller color selection than if you bought the foundation alone. It'll say Fair, Light, Light-Medium, Medium, Tan, Deep... but how am I suppose to know what undertones they have? The regular foundation without the brush will say the undertones.
Hey BTers, I asked you all a while ago about makeup/skincare tips for days that I work out. Based on your suggestions, here's what seems to work well for me: 1. In the morning for work,I keep it simple by just wearing either foundation or BB cream, blush, eyebrow pencil and lipstick. Because my eyes are really sensitive, I don't wear any eye makeup before I work out because I don't want any residue getting into my eyes when I sweat. 2. Before I work out, I use a makeup removing wipe to get as much of it off as I can. Then of course tie my hair back. 3. After I work out, I use a mild face wash to remove the dirt and sweat. I don't use my regular cleanser because it's fairly strong, and since I use it morning and evening, I thought midday too would be too hard on my skin. I follow that with a mild toner (no alcohol) to remove excess dirt. 4. For makeup, I put on BB cream, mascara, a bit of eyeshadow, pencil my eyebrows and lipstick. That's it! I hope this helps anyone wondering about skincare/makeup on days you work out.
