**So, I know that there's a similar thread out there for this for someone's trip to Japan, but since it's 2 years old now, I thought it would be okay to create a new one with updated information.** So, I am fortunate enough to be able to take a trip to Tokyo in a few weeks, and, as a lover of beauty and a person intrigued by Asian skincare, I was wanting to create a short list of beauty items or brands that I should be on the look out for while I'm there. Any suggestions? My skin is pretty sensitive, so I'm leaning more towards makeup (as my skin tolerates that better than skincare). However, I am open to any sensitive skincare as well. Thanks!
So I was just on Sephora's website and noticed that all Formula X products are half off, and the selection of nail polish colors has diminished significantly. Is Formula X being discontinued?! If so, it'll be a bummer since I love The System and Formula X is the only nail polish I use.
My skin is EXTREMELY picky about SPF. I have found a physical SPF my skin can tolerate that I apply daily, but I guess I never noticed that SPF in foundations truly breaks me out until I recently started looking for more fuller coverage and longer lasting formulas. My go to's have always been Koh Gen Do Aqua and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk - two formulas without SPF that provide a beautiful finish, but are not very long lasting. My skin is on the normal to slightly dry side. I have recently tried both the Dior Forever foundation (SPF 35) and the Lancome Teint Idole Foundation (SPF 15) and both seem to be giving me an irritated looking rash on my cheeks. Any suggestions for a good long wearing foundation WITHOUT SPF that won't completely dry my skin out?
I already have the Filmstar bronze & glow palette but looking into some of her other products. Does anyone have any experiences they would like to share esp with her Light Wonder Foundation, her blush and the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder? I'm interested in getting these three things but still on the fence about taking the plunge! Please let me know, many BTers opinions have helped me out on products before Thanks in advance!
I thought I would create a thread for HUDA BEAUTY , so we could have a place to discuss news, upcoming collections, and of course post swatches! I double checked to see if there was a thread for the brand already, and I didn't see one, so here we go!
Hello there, my pretties! Are we ready for spring yet? I am not necessarily ready for sun ( ), but I know I'm ready to bust out some bright colors and create my own spring magic. Rules are - there are no rules. ( Except - you must have fun! That's obligatory! ) We do feel like brights and pastels during the spring most of the time, but you do whatever you feel like doing. You do you! Try to go through your stash, and introduce us to a new pretty each day. If brights are not your cup of tea, this challenge is an excellent way to try to, well - challenge yourself. But, they are not a must. We are planning on doing this all spring long! Please, feel free to stop by whenever. So... Keep calm and put your lipstick on! My plan ( and goal ) is to shop my own stash. No buying new lipsticks, just giving some love to all my neglected lovelies. Let's see how will that go... Lipstick Playground thread is here: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Lips/Lipstick-Play ground/m-p/2020866#M18488
Hello everyone, I am new to this thread and was just wondering if any of you could help me out. I have sensitive, combo oily skin and no matter what primer or foundation I seem to use (tried several liquids and bare minerals powder), it breaks apart on me a few hours later. It separates on my face and it looks splotchy mid day. I have also tried primers but none so far have helped with this. I try touching up with a powder once im noticing oiliness to see if that would prevent or conceal the splotchiness but it just makes it look worse. what could be causing this? and what do you recommend to prevent this? Thanks for any tips!
Spoiler (Highlight to read) Guidelines: Trade items that are equal in value and brand quality or better. For example, Dior for Guerlain would be a good trade, as would Too Faced for Tarte. Do not trade Dior for Tarte. Do not take more than you put in. Please ensure your trade is adding value to the box. Trade full sized items for full sized items. Do not take all of one category from the box. For example, do not take all the palettes or masks. If you’re not sure if an item is appropriate, post the item and ask the group. Allowed in the box: Mid to high end products (think brands sold at Sephora, The Bay, Nordstrom, etc). Anything that is sealed (as long as it fits with the other guidelines) Skin care items in tubes & bottles. Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened. Keep non-beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). In other words, the item hasn't been used more than 3 times. Deluxe samples: calculate based off largest size available of said product. For example, if a deluxe sample is 0.5oz, and the full size is 2 oz and worth $60, then the deluxe sample is worth $15. These must be new, untested, unswatched. Do not swatch items in the TSB. I saw many items that were swatched in the last box that didn't start out "swatched" or "used". 2. If an item is swatched, put "swatched" with the stickies notes I included in the box. If the items has been used (UP TO 3 TIMES ONLY), then put used and then the number of times. 3. If the box gets lost while you are sending it to the next person (for whatever reason), you will either pay a $50 deposit (to the organizer of the box) to replace the items or you will have to put enough samples/deluxe items to make up for the box. If you are not ok with this rule, then please refrain from joining the box. 5. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LOW END MAKE UP/ SKIN CARE (No Sephora or Ulta brand deluxe or sample!) This is a high/mid end box unless it is an Asian or Indie brand that someone wants. 4. Ship the box within 3 days to the next person. If you can't, post a message here on the board right away. 5. Post pics of your trade and wait until at least half of the group has agreed on your trade. 6. The box is based on trust so don't steal from it. It is meant to be a fun experience for everyone. 7. I want to buy the Kat Von D lock it foundation and I have been doing extensive research on what shade to buy. The problem is that the shades of the foundation on the Sephora website looks different than the colors on her actual website.Color 42 neutral seems completely different. Please help.
I've been having issues with foundation sliding off my skin and looking cakey shortly after application. I have tried every mattifying primer (Becca ever-matte, MUFE mattifying, estee edit pore vanishing stick, nars pore & shine control, tarte tinted BB treatment, hourglass veil mineral, smashbox, porefessional, etc.) and nothing works. I always pat the primer in rather than rubbing it in, as well, and this does not help. My makeup doesn't apply properly to my nose or upper lip area (slides off, looks cakey right away) no matter what I use. I've tried a beauty blender and several different types of foundation brushes. By midday, any foundation I try pills on my cheeks, and becomes very cakey and gross everywhere on my T-zone - particularly around my nose. Shine is also a major issue. Currently using Nars Sheer Glow foundation, but this also happens with tinted moisturizers, Lancome Teint Idole, and Smashbox BB Water. I also set with UD De-Slick. Current skincare: Olehenriksen Oil Control Toner, Good Genes, FAB Mattifying Moisture Gel or Clinique Dramatically Different Gel, and Origins GinZing eye cream.
A place to discuss new, indie and not so talked about brands. There's a few brands I'd like to know more about but didn't want to start a thread for each so decided to start a thread for all those brands that we don't often hear about.
alright, here it is. use this thread to request swatches. the guidelines are up to you and your needs: single swatches, comparison swatches, specific skin tone swatches when comparisons are requested, feel free to provide whatever you have of that request--i want anyone to participate and contribute if they want to. have fun, hope this is helpful !
I've been having severe foundation separation for about the last 6 months or so. I've tried everything that I can think of and I just can't figure out what the heck is going on. Currently, I'm using MUFE Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer in Hyrdation, MUFE Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation, KVD Lock-It Setting Powder, and tarte's Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist. When I went into a Sephora get a full face makeover to try to fix this problem, I was told that my skin was "dehydrated" and that's why it becomes separated. However, I don't know how satisfied I am with this answer. I applied my makeup at 8am today and by 4pm I looked oily and blotchy and terrible. PLEASE SEND HELP.
Hi all, I had posted the Natural Love palette in the March haul thread and it looked like there was quite a bit of interest wanting to know how it performed before some people would pull the trigger and purchase. I decided to make a dedicated thread for it so everyone could find it easily instead of going back and updating my March haul entry where it would get buried pretty quickly. Plus I've swatched every color, which I think will be helpful! Well, I have to be honest, this palette is a bit of a disappointment. Even with an extreme amount of build-up, many of the colors simply don't have the pay-off I'd expect them to by looking at them in the pan. Shades like Bunny Nose and Honey Butter, which I was really looking forward to just kind of disappear on my lids. The matte shades perform pretty well. In fact, I like them more than the shimmers and if I just want a subtle natural-toned matte look then this palette is good for that. But there are some nice shimmer shades! Honeymoon and Hot & Bothered are both very pretty but I also feel like they are shades that you see duplicated in just about every other palette (warm, bronzey rust shades). My advice is to proceed with caution on this. I know it has great reviews on the Sephora site but I can personally attest that I gave it a three-star review and it was never posted. So take those reviews with a grain of salt. I swatched all the colors with a brush and my finger and washed the brush with Bobbi Brown brush cleanser in between swatches. The top swatch in each color set is with a brush and the second is with my finger. I hope this helps anyone who is on the fence. I will say that I don't dislike the palette enough to return it. Also, I always pat my eyeshadow down with setting spray and these shadows last all day when I do that, which is great - and no creasing. Onto the pics!

NEWS, UPCOMING COLLECTIONS, DISCUSSIONS AND SWATCHES! I was surprised there wasn't a dedicated thread for the brand especially since they have really upped their game recently. So since pretty much every brand has a thread I thought to start one for Tarte!
I have seen lots of new threads pop up devoted to specific brands and thought I would get some other opinions and ideas about the best of becca. I just in the last year have really fallen in love with this brand. We newest favs are backlight priming filter and blush in flowerchild. I feel like shimmering skin perfector is a must have for every makeup lover. I love using the backlight targeted colour corrector on my dark under eye circles. I have though about trying foundation anyone have any suggestions?what are your favorites?

Hello all! So my current best foundation color match is NARS Siberia. I've been using the Sheer Glow for the past three months and I'm still trying to "figure it out". I feel like the formula is really finicky and I have yet to find a good combination of primers and/or setting powder/spray to make it both last well & mesh well with my skin. I don't think it's a skincare problem as my skin has been relatively normal-dry these past few months (no big skin changes and my daywear moisturizer is relatively 'basic'. I save my layers of hydration for overnight). So far things I have tried: - Too Faced Hangover: helped hydrate dry patches that Sheer Glow emphasizes but doesn't help longevity. Sheer Glow still applies a little patchy over this - Becca Ever Matte: too matte for Sheer Glow which tends to emphasize any dry patch - Hourglass Mineral Veil: seems to be the best combo so far, but doesn't help with Sheer Glow longevity. Still totally starts breaking down/melting by hour three. - A single drop of argan oil: makes Sheer Glow apply so smooth and evenly BUT foundation is totally breaking up on my face a couple hours into wear. - RCMA No Color Powder (talc + silica): is okay, but makes Sheer Glow a little dry looking, doesn't totally help with lasting powder - CoverFx Illuminating Setting Powder: doesn't make Sheer Glow look dry, but definitely doesn't help with lasting powder - Urban Decay All Nighter spray: makes Sheer Glow tacky, maybe helps lasting power when in combo with a powder as well For the sake of a control, all foundation application has been to dot it on with fingers and blend with beautyblender. I've tried various combinations of one of the primers + powder + spray, primer + no powder, no primer + powder, etc. etc. It's been a long somewhat scientific process, haha. I would just love for this foundation to work on me! I love the color and I can put up with the sheerness of it if I can just get it to work Most days in the morning I've been in too much of a rush to play this long layering game with Sheer Glow and I've been slapping a little Tarte shape tape everywhere and pretending it's foundation, lol TLDR: My question to those who currently use NARS Sheer Glow and it looks good on their skin. What combination of primer / powder / spray /technique do you use to make it wear nicely?
I've been looking at the new brand that just launched at Sephora and I think that the eyeshow palettes look really pretty! Has anyone bought one yet or been able to swatch one? It's hard to know what the quality will be without any reviews...if you have seen them in person what other eyeshadow quality what you equate them with?!
