Quick Fix for Makeup Fails?
My routine is pretty automated in the mornings and I don't have any extra time. I guess I wasn't really awake today then when I packed a whole lot of MAC Cranberry onto my 239 and laid it on. Heavy. Before work.    I can wear those colors I love, sparingly, on work days, but this was a bit much. Worse....when I used a nice brown for my crease color there was enough Cranberry that it blended in and lifted the tone higher.   i just wore it for the day but wondered if there isn't time to do a re-do, are there quick fixes for things like that?   Neutralize a bright color?   Tone down a shimmery shade?   Tone down blush? I have a really dark burgundy blush that is potent on my fair skin, even a little is easy to overdo. If I use a duo fibre its a little lighter, plus I can apply finishing powder, that tends to tone it down. Any other tricks?   Just wondering if you have quick fixes for these or other makeup situations.

ADDICTION TO ONE MAKE UP TYPE COMES IN PHASES - ANYONE SHARE THIS ISSUE?
Which make up type are you addicted to right now? Lipstick, Gloss, Eye Shadow Palettes, Mascaras, Foundations, Blushers, tanners????????? Has the product you are obsessed by changed over time??????   In my twenties I was addicted to lipsticks and lip glosses. When new ranges would come in from brands like Dior, Lancome, YSL, Chanel, Sisleya, and Givenchy; I'd buy every pink that suited me, and even some that didn't because they looked so darn pretty.   When I relocated from the US to Asia, I had to throw away literally hundreds of lipsticks, and even today - I am now 43 - I have literally dozens of lipsticks and glosses left from that period; I can't throw them away in case I ever need them (which is hardly likely - lipstick isn't even meant to last that long, is it?) I've given a lot to my daughters over time, but we all have different color preferences and different skin colors ... and of course I never entirely stopped buying lipsticks/glosses; my current favorites are the Tom Ford Matte range - loving Crimson Noir, Casablanca, and Indian Rose especially.   In my thirties my focus shifted to eye shadow palettes, and again I bought more than I could possibly hope to ever use - like every new one from Dior, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Givenchy, Nars, YSL etc. I was particularly into getting my hands on the limited edition ones, even if the colors did not appeal to me. I've given loads away to my children, even when they were young, as I figured they could use them for practice, but then another mother mentioned that most 8 year olds don't have a make up purse full of Dior Palettes. I explained I was done with them, so saw it as a way to recycle. I tried to laugh it off, but I wasted so many $$$$$$ it was crazy. And of course I never stopped buying the darn things entirely since I hit 40, I just try to think a lot more about what I might realistically use. Totally loving the UD Naked Palettes right now.   Now in my forties I'm obsessed with foundations. Thankfully I finally found one I love, along with a BB cream (Estee Lauder Double Wear), but when I was 40, 41, and 42, I was buying maybe 40 foundations a year in my desperate search for the HG ...   Now I found my HG Foundation, my focus has shifted to blushers ...

Holiday Packages for Friends
This year I'm preparing for Christmas a bit earlier, in order to take advantage of the 20% off VIB sale this year, and was wondering what other BT'ers here usually like to buy for their friends.   Most of my friends like makeup, and like to wear it, but only wear it about once a month if at all. There has been many hysterical conversations where they've admitted to me why they don't buy mascara. It's because they feel wasteful about using it only a handful of times before it expires.   Needless to say, every year I buy and hoard mini's of everything for the glorious fun day of girly squealing.   The mini's I typically keep for gifting are mascara, eyeliners, primers, perfume, and other bits and bobs. Oh, and a travel skin care set in a small makeup bag.    This year has been pretty generous with me, and I was thinking of adding something really nice with each package. Any recommendations?   What do you like to give your girlfriends?

Hello all,   I just saw that MJ highliner set is out of stock. Do you think it will be restocked for the VIB sale? If you bought it, how do you like it? Do you think it is worth it?    I am not a very eyeliner-y person but I am really into the brand. I also have blue-green eyes. Do you think it would compliment my eye colors?    Ahh that was some questioning Thanks all!

Kat Von d: launching a new beauty website on 10/30/14
I follow Kat Von D on Facebook and yesterday, Monday, 10/20/14, she posted that she was launching a new beauty website in 10 days/on 10/30/14.🙀   See her post on FB for details on what the intent of the site is. I didn't want to post a screen capture of her post for two reasons 1) I am not sure if I'd be infringing on some protected material and 2) there was one bad word at the bottom of her post and I'd have to figure out how to edit that out since BT has rules on language. 😜   I am pretty excited - I love her products and I love her tutorial videos. I am anxiously awaiting the launch! I did visit the site to see what is currently posted and I was able to sign up to receive email communications. The site already looks pretty hot!🔥

Deluxe and Foil Samples Traveling Box!
I posted a previous post about starting a traveling box with samples and deluxe samples and a few ladies were interested in doing one!  This is the 1st traveling box I am apart of and of course the 1st that I am starting.   So, we need to decide if we are going to do a medium or small flat rate box.     RULES  No used items.  No open items  DO NOT take more than you put in.  Let's keep this fun and fair  DO NOT take multiples of the same sample  PLEASE try not to keep the box more than 3 days  Make sure to send your address to the person listed above you  Once you send the box off, post the tracking number in this thread  ALL unused items allowed (well maybe not nail polishes if it will make the shipping costs go up)  Post a pic of what you take out, what you put in and what is left in the box before you send it off   We are going to have fun and try to keep this going as long as we can!   If you are interested in being in the box, I have a few spots left so post a pic of what samples you have in this thread to be added.   To start off, we are only going to have 10 people! 1. Deal or GWP on Kjaer Weiss Refills for my Bday (Beautylish? BeautyBar? Ecodiva?)
With your powers combined... I know we can find me a deal or a nice GWP on my first Kjaer Weiss products!  It needs to be somewhere that sells the refill pan packs.   I want to buy a foundation refill, a blush refill, and the highlighter refill.  I don't currently own any cream products because of my sensitivities, but since KW is 'cone-free and more natural, I'm going to give a (big) try!  This will be my birthday gift .  Since they will live in zPalette on my vanity area, I am just going to invest in the refill pans for now (yay for less packaging and saving money too).   So, I'm looking for good deals, coupons, codes, GWP, from places that well Kjaer  Weiss - Beautylish, ECODIVA, Net-A-Porter, SpiritBeauty, Beautybar... Kjaerweiss.com...    I think I have a $10 Off code for Beautylish.  I can't use the new customer codes for BeautyBar because those are once per household, I believe.   I'm signed up for emails from all these sites, but nothing good yet/lately...   Thanks in advance for your help!

LORAC Mega Pro Review
Now that I've had a week to play around with the Mega Pro palette, here is what I think of it.   Pros:   Value: $59 USD for 32 eyeshadows and no primer LORAC Pro 1 and 2 value  - $84 before tax You save $25 2 in 1 palette Perfect gift for someone whose into makeup Colors and pigmented, blend really well, can be used wet or dry Slim, easy to carry multiple looks good balance of warm and cool shades Compliments 1 and 2 nicely jewel tones Cons:   a lot of fallout when picking up color packaging gets dirty very easily Shadows can become loose and shatter easily so be careful needs darker blending/transition shades leans a tad bit warm   Favorites:   Smokey Topaz Mulberry Opal (This looks like Becca Champagne Gold when swatched side by side) Maroon Merlot Deep Teal Indigo Granite Fawn   Overall I think this is a really good, palette to add to your collection and to use as a complimentary palette alongside the Pro 1 and 2. I do wish they had darker transition/blending shades for darker skin such as Sable from Pro 1 because I had to go back in later with my HG transition shades, MUG Cocoa Bear and MAC Swiss Chocolate to add definition and warmth. But I do really like it.    I have found dupes/similar shades of certain shades in the Tamanna, Amrezy, Pro 1 and 2 palettes if anyone would like to see comparison swatches. I am willing to do them.   I hope this helps everyone! Please let me know what you think of the palette if you have it.

LOTD (Lips of the Day)
Hi dolls, I'm obsessed with the what are you wearing thread on BT , but I find it hard to post a full faced selfie all the time! I noticed a lot of people are lip product junkies like myself on here and thought it would be a good thread to start. I also think it might make people more comfortable with posting a picture of their lips instead of their whole face (I know I don't want to see mines up close and personal all the time). I think a brows of the day , eyes of the day , etc. would be great too for people who aren't as comfortable posting a selfie. You can always post a selfie in this thread though (: Here's whats one my lips today!  1. Bite Beauty Rhubarb lip pencil 2. TF Perfect Lips Lip Liner in perfect spice

Makeup nostalgia
Recently I was purging my collection when I came across these two items. They're the ones that have made it through all of my purges no matter how ruthless. Why? Because they have sentimental value.   The Lancôme Color Design Artist Palette (2007-2008) was the first "high end" palette I ever bought and playing with it is really what got me into high end makeup. I also had a ridiculous amount of fun while wearing this palette and discovered both the purple and the navy smokey eye as my signature night time "go-to" look.   The L'Oréal Laetitia Casta "look" combo (2007) is what really got me into thinking about "looks" and how everything goes together.   What sentimental makeup items are you guys hanging on to?

High-end products with an excellent value (The Hourglass Arch Brow Pencil)
I recently bought the HOURGLASS Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil, because of the great reviews. I was going through a Brow Wiz way too quickly. When I found out the Hourglass pencil is 0.014oz, for $32 ($37CAD), compared to 0.003oz $21($27) for the Brow Wiz, I was sold. If you compare the 2, the brow wiz is so much more expensive! You would pay $98 ($126 CAD) for the same amount of product! I even compared it with drugstore products and it's still a better value.   So, my question is, do you have any other go-to products that you think have such a great value?

Guerlain Meteorites - Old vs. New
Hi beauties!   I know a lot of people are interested in knowing about the new Guerlain Meteorites and how they compare to the old formula. In the last two weeks I have acquired the new formula in Clair and Medium, and the old formula in Teint Rose and Teint Beige. I think this gives me a good perspective to compare the two formulas in an unbiased manner since I got them both at the same time without being in love with one or the other first (for the record I am equally in love with all of them!)   Let's start off with a picture!                                                                 going top to bottom, left to right we have Clair (new), Teint Rose (old), Medium (new) and Teint Beige (old).   I am not going to spend too much time lamenting the decreased quantity of balls in the new formulas. We all know it's true and it is just a sad fact that we meteorites lovers are going to have to deal with eventually, sigh. The good thing is that, as most agree, these balls last for a LONG time and I believe the same will hold true for the new formula as well.   To me, the new formulas are definitely easier to pick up with your brush. Some have said that they have more broken meteorites with the new formula because they are softer but I haven't had any issue with that. And though it is easier to get more powder on your brush, I haven't felt that the softer formula leads to over-doing application at all.   The biggest difference I have noticed between the old and new formulas (for both shades) is that the new formula has more shimmer to it. That being said, the actual shimmer particles seem smaller in the new formula which is something I like.   Another observation I had was that the new formulas have a bit more color to them than the old. The picture below shows the new formulas across the top and the old across the bottom. As you can see, the new Medium has more pink balls than the Beige does, while the Clair has more light gold balls than Rose (Rose looks to have more of the white/cream balls). I am planning to look at the actual ratio of color balls in each once I have a safe place to dump them all out... my bathroom has been scary lately haha.   Over all, as I've said, I love them all and I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the four! My recommendations would be that for those of you interested in a bit more warmth your glow go for the new Medium. If you are fair and want illumination, the new Clair is a good bet. If you are fair and need redness correcting you might prefer the old Teint Rose if you can find it. Teint Beige would be best if you would prefer your meteorites to have slightly , and really it is quite slight, less shimmer with a little more warmth than Rose or Clair.   Hopefully this helps everyone who is on the fence about which to purchase, or whether you need to go out and purchase the new formula asap!   Long story short:   They really do make you feel fabulous and pampered when you're putting them on. They give you a nice special extra something glow.   Did you need all four? Probably not... Did I just order this: Yes, yes I did (fingers crossed that it's authentic!)

Laure Mercier Artist Palette - Typo Fail
So normally getting a palette with a misspelled label isn't a huge deal. I mean, it does tweak my Virgo need for order, and it does irk when it's from a high-end brand.   This misprint of "Deep Night", though, skates a little too close to the racial slur line for comfort. Obviously it's not intentional, but I wonder how many of these slipped through quality control.     I'm debating whether to exchange it, or just try adding the letters in myself with liquid paper or something.

Smell of Guerlain Powders - Expired?
So I just used 2 of my Guerlain powders--1 is the Terracotta Light Bronzer and the other is the pressed Meteorites Voyage.  Both have that signature violet scent.  I've had these powders for almost a year and I've used them on very few occasions and always with clean brushes.  When I used them today, I noticed that my brush had a weird sour smell when I ran it across my nose.  I thought maybe it was my brush so I tried another brush with the bronzer and still got that sour smell. Then I thought maybe my foundation was causing that smell so I used another brush, swirled it around my face and there was no scent so I'm pretty sure that sour smell is coming from my Guerlain powders.   My question is, has anyone else noticed that their Guerlain powders smell sour? Have my powders expired or is that normal? There isn't any suggested expiration date on the packaging, and I don't see parabens in the ingredients...just benzyl alcohol so I'm assuming the lack of many preservatives means that it goes bad quickly...which sucks...they were so expensive and honestly performed mediocrely and now they've possibly gone bad.   Update:   According to his article, some people just pick up the violet scent as being sour...so I guess it's not bad? Interesting that different people smell things different though.   http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-238 3238/Love-smell-beer-cheese-Thank-DNA-Scientists-c ...

Torn between Naked1 and Naked2
I have been searching for a good neutral palette for quite some time now and I have been trying to talk myself out of getting one of these palettes, but I have decided to take the plunge and get one of them. However, I am torn between the two of them. I personally think that cooler toned shadows fit my skin tone better (I sort of have yellowish undertones) so after some suggestions I have been leaning towards the naked 2. But there are some colors I really cannot stand in the palette (tease, pistol, foxy), and I know those shadows would go to waste. In the naked1 palette the only color I cannot stand is gunmetal (and maybe toasted would end up being a dislike), but because the colors are so warm I'm afraid I would get it and realize that none of the shadows are good for me, which would lead me to not reaching for it. Lastly, I was looking at swatches of the naked2 palette and this photo really caught my eye.  The colors look sooo pigmented and nice, but in some other photos I have seen the colors look completely different and not as nice. Does this photo accurately show the true colors of the naked2 palette?   Anyway, I'm basically town between the two and I would love if anyone has some good feedback on this! Thanks!
