I got a sample for the shade Perfect Ginger but I feel this is too dark on me, in fact it is now that I'm looking at it. I'm a match perfect for the new Nars foundation Fiji. Would the Praline product be closer to that? I'm supposedly a medium but my skin is a bit lighter than that. I was trying out foundations cause I want like a dewy finish but I have an oily nose and the rest of my face is normal. I was also considering YSL and I believe my shade would be B30. Any recommendations from a BT staff? I have a yellow undertone.
I was hoping for some advice in finding a well pigmented, golden highlighter for summer. I picked up the MUFE Pro Sculpting Duo in #2 Golden during the VIB sale but found it either doesn't show up or looks a bit ...splotchy? I'm debating exchanging it for NARS Jubilation but the reviews online aren't that great either so I'm open to suggestions! For reference this would be strictly for night time, full face looks which is why I wanted something a bit more pigmented. I'm an NC30 in MAC, Vanilla Glow in Too Faced BB, and Bamboo Beige in Laura Mercier. Thanks!
There are the TF, Chanel, etc threads but what about Illamasqua. Us fans of the brand need to work a little harder... I became a fan, sadly, after they left Sephora (bring them back?) but now love them. Getting information is tougher. Today they're on Hautelook, tomorrow they release a new collection. Does it make sense to have a thread…to report on what's worth buying and the best way to get it? Perhaps not…but let's see...
In the vein of the recent Tom Ford Updates and Chanel Updates threads, I thought I would start one for Burberry! I think they have had a ton of great releases recently (new eye shadow formula, kisses lippies). Burberry is one of the most consistently good designer lines in my opinion. Some great shots of the new collection are on the Fall 2015 Collections thread and I was surprised to see that the new Lip & Cheek Bloom is actually already available at Nordstrom! this fall collection posted on ModelRecommends looks pretty amazing too. that palette! what items have you liked recently from Burberry? Anything you are waiting for or have your eye on?
In the summer i'm going to be a attending a lot of festivals and things where I will be outside all day. Where I live it gets pretty hot and humid. What is a good foundation that lasts all day without it making my face feel greasy/sweaty or oily. I have normal skin but it does tend to get a little dry especially around the sides of my nose but over all its pretty normal.
Just an hour after applying mascara, I notice little black flakes all over my under-eye and cheek area. It's especially noticeable because my skin is so fair. I don't wear contacts and I am really careful around my eyes specifically so I don't have little black flakes all over. The mascaras I have tried are: They're Real by Benefit Volum' Express Pumped Up Colossal by Maybelline Can someone suggest a mascara that won't flake all over my face? Or is there something I could be doing wrong that is making this happen?! Thanks
I have seen posts on setting spray usage and I am confused. Do most of you put it on after foundation and before powder? After powder and blush? Do you also spray it to include your eye makeup or not? I worry that getting it near my mascara will make it smudge? I thought I knew what I was doing but now I am completely confused!
I want to try AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50 But not sure It is good product. I tried it once during the VIP rouge event. Does it worth the price and the quality? I need few options on this product. Thank you
What are your favorite/recommended brushes? I've been debating for awhile now about saving up the money to buy the complete set from Sigma but I just don't know if I love their brushes enough. I have brushes from Mac, Sigma, and Zoeva but I was wondering if anyones found better ones? Or if there's specific must haves you want to mention?
I've heard good things and bad things about the Too Faced chocolate bar palette and I'm just not sure if I should purchase it or not I've gone into Sephora probably four different times and picked it up to buy it and ended up putting it back down before I went to checkout. Should I just buy it? What are your thoughts?
I CANT FIND A GOOD FOUNDATION!!!!!!! I HAVE THE KAT VON D COLOR TATTOO FOUNDATION AND ITS OKAY WHEN IM JUST WEARING IT FOR MAYBE 4 HOURS. WHEN I PUT ANY POWDER OVER IT OR BRONZER OR HIGHLIGHTER IT GETS WEIRD AND CAKEY!! I WANT A FOUNDATION TO LOOK DEWY AND NATURAL WITH A BRONZER BLUSH AND HIGHLIGHTER OVER IT! IM SO TIRED OF SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY ON ALL THESE FOUNDATIONS! PLEASE HELP!! I ALSO DONT WANT TO SPEND MORE THEN MAX $40. I HAVE COMBINATION SKIN BTW ALSO IM 14 YEARS OLD
The first blush I ever wore was a sample my mom gave my. It was made by Clinique and it was number 22 Posy Blush Sheer powder blusher. It came in a tiny green color packaging that was sample size. Ever since I wore this I have been looking for a similar blush for years. When ever I ask I am usually pointed in the direction of a peach blush however the sample from Clinique seemed to have more of a pink/red undertone as opposed to peach. The peach looks good on me and the Clinique was kinda peachey but the pink/red undertone looked even better on me. I am currently wearing Estee Lauder blush in Peach Passion. I have two questions: 1.) Does Estee Lauder have a different color that would be more similar to the Clinique I referenced and 2.) What other blushes in different brands would have more of a similar color I am searching for? Thanks!
I know we've all talked about specific vloggers and YouTube gurus that we love, but I want to see which YouTubes inspire you! Post looks, tips, whatever! For those who don't know, you can click the little film strip along the top toolbar (3rd from the right) and paste a YouTube link which will then appear in your post. I flippin' love this video of Lisa Eldridge doing the quintessential Alexa Chung look on Alexa Chung.
I love the Bobbi Brown art stick lip pencil. I purchased the hot pink and the orange. Since I am older (55) with fair skin and blue eyes what type and color of blush would you suggest to go with each of the art sticks? I am assuming I will need a pink and a coral. I usually use Bare Minerals products but am open for suggestions. Thanks!
So, I'm somewhat new to this whole makeup thing. I'm 20 years old, with fair, combination-oily skin. My cheeks tend to be red and sensitive also. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a foundation or bb cream for my skin, and also a light powder to finish it off. I've tried Clinique's almost powder and it seems to cake on my face, and shows every line. I'm looking for something that isn't extremely heavy on my face since it's almost summer. Also if you have any recommendations for a lip stain or lipstick that will stay put all day and not run, that would be great.
have you ever had an a-ha moment after a very simple suggestion was thrown your way? i'm not talking years of practice leading to mastering the craft here. but rather when your makeup game changed for the better after a tiny tweak in technique and / or perspective. i was chatting with a friend about it, i realized i had a couple and thought it would be a cool thing to discuss here--for fun, and to share what could possibly be a-ha moments for others ! my first proper simple suggestion to how i approached makeup was years ago, but still after years of struggle to find a foundation that really did match my skin. a friend makeup artist told me i had neutral-to-yellow undertones (she also said 'olive but too pale to even tell'.... too pale to even tell will be the name of my memoirs ) and to try out japanese brand foundations. i eventually found bobbi brown, giorgio armani and nars, too, and that struggle was put to rest. my second ohhhhhh moment was relatively more recently, when i was advised to apply liner (particularly winged, liquid/gel liner) with my eyes open, rather than closed. this. changed. everything. for me. i'd always struggled because i have ever-so-slightly hooded eyes, and when i applied the perfect wing to closed eyes, everything was pointing the wrong way when i opened them. and with this simple suggestion, suddenly something i felt i'd never learn how to swing was remarkably easy and almost foolproof. same goes for eyeshadow (particularly in the crease) though to a lesser degree. how about you ??
I wanted to try Hourglass Immaculate foundation because I heard so many good things about it and I have really oily skin. I went to Sephora and asked for help picking out my shade. The Sales rep put it on top of my makeup, which I had been wearing all day. It did look like a match so I bought the warm beige. But when I put it on the next day I was too orange. I agreed with her that I would get darker in summer but this is not even a natural color. So I went back and asked another sales rep to help me choose a color, this time she removed my makeup, although just on my jaw line and tried on honey, she said that was the right color. I looked and it did look better than my orange skin (yes I wore the makup again, to give it another try). So I got the honey. Now I've been wearing it for a few days and it is till orange. It is much lighter than the warm beige, but it is still not my color. I have olive skin does anyone have any suggestions?
Just curious, I thought I'd ask to see what makeup product others find themselves buying the most of. (For example, eyeshadows, mascaras, foundations, blushes... etc..) For myself, I am perpetually buying more lipstick than I probably need. It usually takes me forever to even finish ONE, but yet I still seem to be always looking at/buying more of them, haha! :-)
Anyone been to one of these events before? Anyone going to the ones coming up? What can I expect? I searched "Meet the founder" but didn't see a thread, feel free to redirect me if I'm duplicating a post
Hi I am interested in purchasing the Georgia Armani Silk foundation but am unsure about my color, I tried putting in my zip code but this is not available in my local Sephora, How can you help me choose my right color?
I recently bought a Naked Basics palette from Sephora. While I like most of the shades, I found Foxy to be noticeably stiffer and more different to pick up (with a brush or finger) than the rest. I'm wondering if that's how the shadow is supposed to be? Should I exchange the palette for a new one?
Hey Everyone!! So here is the deal, I live in Pittsburgh but I am getting married on Sept 5th 2015 in Central Park (NYC, duh). I can't exactly head on up there a couple weeks before the wedding to try and do a trial bridal makeup session with any makeup artists up there, so I am going to try and do this myself (eeeek). I do my own makeup whenever I leave the house, but it's nothing special or extravagant (light to medium coverage application of foundation, blush, lip stain, eyes, and thats it). I'd like to do something that 100% covers all of my acne scars, but doesn't look cakey or over done. It also needs to LAST ALL DAY! My ceremony is at 2 PM, but my reception isn't until 6 PM.. so I literally mean all day. We'll be outside from the time the ceremony begins until the reception starts, and I'm a nasty sweaty pig. My dress is a strapless a-line tea length with a sweetheart neckline, and I have a birdcage veil... the reception is at a swing dancing club, so we're obviously going for a vintage feel. I'd really like to do something that says vintage, elegant, sexy, but not TOO sexy, sweet, radiant (but not TOO radiant since i'm oily and sweaty), clean, simple, but still fun. I WANT SO MANY THINGS! I have been using Bare Minerals matte powder foundation because it's a perfect match for my skin color (and I have a hard time finding foundations that are a perfect match), but it tends to settle in my pores (which is huge) and smile lines (which makes me look like an 80 yr old women) and also tends to rub off easily.. I just don't want to have to keep checking myself in the mirror to fix that. Plus it doesn't completely cover my acne scars. Ok, wow that was long, so back to the point. ANY advice on how I should go about doing this? Any tips? tricks? advice? opinions? how-tos? anything at all would be appreciated. What primer do you recommend? Which foundation do you feel would work for me and I should try? To contour or not to contour, that is the question? What shade of blush?! What lipstick and what shade?! How the heck do I get my make up to stay on all day through sweat, oil, and tears? WHAT ABOUT MY EYES?! UNDER EYE CIRCLES?! I DONT EVEN USE CONCEALER THERE BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND ONE THAT DOESN'T LOOK WEIRD!!! AND HOW THE HECK DOES ONE "DO THEIR EYEBROWS"?! I barely even have eye brows and that will look so weird in pictures!!! "oh jeez, yeah did you see her wedding pictures? she literally has no eyebrows, how sketchy is that?" <--what I assume would be said by everyone attending. I'm freaking out, obviously. I just need guidance. Like, holy guidance. People, I need a bridal makeup Yoda. Someone, anyone, be that guy for me. Please. Thanks for listening to my rant!
