Hi BT! I've been hijacking threads lately with my various color challenges. It's time for it's own place! The rules: Each week (Sunday- Saturday), there will be a new color to incorporate into your makeup looks. It can be one item of that color or a whole face. Try to incorporate it 4-5 times during the week, and post your pic, or discuss your colors here with everyone! If you can only do a day or two, that's fine too! This should be fun! For folks on a No Buy, it's a great way to shop your collection. I hope you'll join me! Week 2: July 26- August 1: ORANGE!
Hey Beauties- We have ALOT of threads around here for Tom Ford products. I figured I'd start one thread where we can update each other on items as they come out or we see them available. For all my UK'ers, or people willing to pay for shipping from the UK, Harrods has Softcore and Nude Dip from the Fall collection available right now. Happy Shopping!
Particularly with powder highlighters? I'm wondering if I should try sephora's brand fan brush, but the reviews are a bit mixed, and someone said the brush fell apart and lost it's shape after washing. I'm open to all answers and suggestion. (if you use liquid highlighter, feel free to share your favorite method for applying as well)
Hi, So, I'm a Genderqueer person. For those who don't know, it means that I don't identify with the regular gender binary (Male and Female), but instead identify as somewhere in between. I heard that this forum was a good place for beauty advice and wasn't too judgemental, so I thought this might be a good place for me to ask some of my questions. I was assigned male at birth (AMAB), and I'm looking for makeup that will help give my face a more androgynous look. I find this particularly difficult for myself, because I keep growing facial hair and my eyebrows are incredibly bushy (I have dark facial and brow hair, btw). I know the simple solution is to shave and get my brows waxed/plucked/threaded, but even though I do shave every single morning, I still have a lot of shadow left behind (Especially on my upper lip). What foundation, and also proper makeup regimen, would be right to help de-masculinize my face, and what proper tools will I need for it? If anyone can give me even a few pointers, I would really appreciate it. Some extra facts about me: -I have a round face. Would this need any altering? -My skin tone is very white with little tan. How can I figure out what shade would be best? -Overall, I have very sensitive skin that's also acne prone. How can I find a good makeup that won't cause at least too many breakouts? Are there any specific brands that are considered to be more safe than others? Thank you in advance for any answers. -I hope this is still a safe space-
Dates have been announced and tickets to the general public are on sale! Who's going next year? For those who don't know, IMATS [International Makeup Artist Trade Show] is a three day event where different makeup artists come to perform different panels/informational meetings and different vendors from various brands have things on sale!
I've seen things where people say they don't wear makeup to impress guys when guys can't tell the difference between black and navy, or Half Baked from Chopper in the Naked line. Things like that. I remember somewhere in the threads someone posted one with two lipsticks, I thought it was the funniest thing. So as a fun little game, fill in the blanks " You think I wear makeup to impress a guy who can't tell the difference between______and_____?"
I already have the Filmstar bronze & glow palette but looking into some of her other products. Does anyone have any experiences they would like to share esp with her Light Wonder Foundation, her blush and the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder? I'm interested in getting these three things but still on the fence about taking the plunge! Please let me know, many BTers opinions have helped me out on products before Thanks in advance!
I was wondering if Opal could work on fair skin (I have slight yellow undertone). I would most likely will be mixing it with moonstone though, but curious if it could work alone as well? I bought Champagne Pop, but I'm on the fence about it. It's not too dark at all, but it just kind of sits on top of my skin, if that makes sense. It doesn't really "melt" into the skin. It's obvious I put some shimmer on my skin. Any feedback would be wonderful!
I found this disappointing honestly. I'm super pale and was really excited for it. It's expensive and the color only lasts maybe 3 days with moisturization and minimal shaving. Guide color is perfect but once it's washed off it's too light imo. Anyone else feel the same?
Ok, so I have horrible skin, I randomly break out, I have combination skin. Sometimes I am really oily, other times I am really dry, most times I am both. I have scars from past acne on my face. I need a makeup and primer and concealer or whatever works to cover all of it. I feel like I have literally tried every single kind of foundation and concealer and primer but some only work for a while then just stop. Does anyone have any recommendations on a primer that will help keep me matte, a concealer that isn't too thick that will cover scars and blemishes and a foundation that will cover the rest. I need complete full coverage. thank you
We all have those products that everyone on youtube RAVES about. Then you get your hands on it and that product is not living up to its hype--in other words, its meh, horrible, okay, just "good", not worth it etc. As beauty lovers we spend lots and lots of money and it would be great if we could share some of our misses so we can stray from the bad! As well, please share your hits so we can finally see what's worth the money we spend! Misses: Givenchy- Phenomen'Eyes Mascara: I just don't know what this does for my lashes. The wand is simply dangerous and you can poke yourself in the eye with it. It's also fairly wet and will not hold my curl. Just NO. I can find something better at the drugstore for under $10 than waste my money on this. Benefit- They're Real! Push-Up Liner: Okay, I love the design of it and how quick it takes me to do my liner with this. However, I would never buy it, only get samples of it. I feel that it is very drying and once it dries, my eyes feel very weird and dry. It sorta makes your eye area almost a crunchy feeling. It dries fairly quickly and you are unable to make even lines without messing it up. Make up for ever- Aqua Eyes: I mean, I like it, but it's not worth my money. I tried to use this to tight-line and the next thing you know, it came off. I had to instead use another eyeliner. It is also very stiff and not very creamy in my opinion, it just takes a lot of effort to use this pencil eyeliner for an every winged eyeliner look. In Between: Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette (Exposure): Okay, I admit, I LOVE this palette. BUT, I don't think it's worth the $58. I can find these colors in other palettes. They may not be the exact colors, but very much almost the same. Plus, it has a lot of fall out but you can easily fix this by using the tips in the video they provide. However, this palette is so pigmented and travel-sized, I just don't know. I'm torn between if it's a hit or miss.
My skin gives me so much trouble!! I have very oily acne prone skin. I am pretty new to the whole makeup game so it is difficult for me to find my correct shade. Sometimes the foundations I pick make me look like I have a fake spray on tan, others make me look super pink or pale. If I go into Sephora stores can they help me pick my right shade? and does it cost if they do help me? I try going for the matte finish because my skin is so oily, however I love the dewy look but it just makes my skin look wet and runny. I need some serious help!
I watched the msn video about the technique referred to as "baking" my make-up. Am I correct to assume that I should only use moisturizer, concealers, wet sponges, and translucent powder (without foundation) to achieve this look? Thanks for your help! I have attached pictures from the online video. Best regards, Miss Freddie
So a few hours ago Trendmood posted on their page a look at the new UD Naked Smoky palette. I haven't seen a picture of what the packaging looks like but I'm guessing it'll be the same design as N2 and N3 in a gunmetal color. This will be released on July 8th on the UD website. Is anyone else interested in this palette? I think I may pick it up to round out my Naked palette collection. Radar, Armor, and Black Market are repromotes from the Vice 1 and 2 palettes. All the other shades are new. They look very similar to current UD shades so hopefully when comparison swatches are released they are significantly different.
I've just recently found out this brand was a thing, and I am really interested in them. But, while I am a sucker for witchy themed makeup (shocking right?) this brand is pretty steeply priced, so I'm afraid of shelling out for something that might end up being a dust catcher. I didn't find many of the reviews for them, though I tend to not really like reviews unless I'm at least passingly familiar with the reviewer anyway. I signed up for their newsletter and they sent me a nice coupon ($10 off $50+ if memory serves) so I will probably end up going for it but I would love to hear what BT has to say about them! (They sure know how to grab attention though don't they?)
Hello! I am currently visiting Vancouver for two weeks and I want to shop for makeup while I'm here. I have no clue to where to start, or what to try, so I decided to ask the BT community. I just want some ideas for brands to look for, your must try products, and your favorites products. Only Canadian brands or exclusives please, I'm from the U.S. so I only want products I can't easily purchase there. It can be drugstore or high end. Thank you!!!
I have a few concerns here, that I need a lot of help with. 1. I have combo skin with a really oily chin, but cheeks/forehead are normal/dry. I have noticed that I have a slight dry patch on the apple of my cheek and NOTHING will help it. I was using an acne wash, so I stopped that, I tried gel moisturizers, Dove bar soap (instead of a true face wash), intense moisturizers, and nothings working. It looks okay when I first put makeup on, aside from it looking a little pink, but once my makeup settles, it looks cakey and flakey and ughhh. Help!!! 2. My foundation has seem to started to melt off my face in the last few months, leaving me with blotchy, nasty, gooey makeup residue. I currently use Sephora's 10 hour foundation and Nars Foundation (the liquid) and even still, my makeup lasts maybe 2/3 hours tops? What's everyones secret to having a flawless face without it looking goopy and actually staying put all day? I feel like I'm just wasting makeup because I'm ALWAYS re-applying often. I've tried setting sprays and setting powders and the whole 9 yards. This also causes my bronzer/contour to get patchy and look really weird. Please help.
So if you didn't know Macy's is having a one day sale with some pretty spectacular deals, plus free shipping! They even have off on brands like Clarisonic, PTR, the occasional Estee Lauder, some Bobbi Brown, and some fragrance as well. Plus the GWPs. Oh and don't forget, 8% back on Ebates for Macy's today! What are you guys picking up?
So I was just browsing the everlasting liquid lipsticks to see if anything was back in stock....Lolita has always said dusty rose...which I purchased Friday night. The description now states chestnut rose....REALLY!!!!? I waited super long to get the corrected shade and now it's a completely different shade? How can one company mess with the same shade sooooo many times...frustrating. I really hope it is the same shade otherwise I don't get why they keep messing with what was perfect originally.
So, I was using the Sephora CC Cream in Light(Y) for several years now. I went to reorder but it was discontinued! So now I need to find a new daily moisturizer, and I was looking at the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer line because I remember sampling one and enjoying the texture. The only issue is, I don't have a Sephora near me, and I have no idea what color I'd be. Does anyone have any idea of what tinted moisturizer shade could be similar to the old shade Light? I think it's between Nude and Sand, but I'm just not sure. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you!
Okay, since this is a Sephora board, I'm sticking with the popular brands of make-up that are sold at Sephora. What words, terms, concepts do you associate with the following brands? It doesn't matter if your associations are logical, rational or completely batsh!t crazy - what do YOU think of when you think of the following brands? I'll do mine in a separate post to keep things clean for copy/paste purposes. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Bare Minerals - BECCA - Benefit - BITE - Bobbi Brown - Buxom - Clinique - Cover FX - Dior - Dolce & Gabbana - Estee Lauder - Giorgio Armani - Givenchy - Guerlain - Hourglass - Josie Maran - Kat Von D - Lancome - Laura Mercier - MAKE UP FOR EVER - Marc Jacobs - NARS - Sephora (Collection, Pantone, etc.) - Smashbox - Stila - Tarte - Too Faced - Urban Decay - Viseart - YSL - I think I got almost all of the common ones talked about on this board... but if you don't have any thoughts on any of them, feel free to leave them blank or ? or whatever... it's just for fun to see how people view things differently! Also it's Friday and this is definitely a fun time-killer and a version of a Friday Questions!
I admit I have a soft spot for mini items - lipsticks, blushes, highlighters, perfume. Love them all I'm excited about the upcoming Bite mini Frozen Berries promo, which got me to think about the minis I own and the ones I would love to see. Minis that I already own and love: Laura Mercier radiance baked powder in highlight (so cute and great highlighter. Would probably last a long time). Got it as a Macy GWP. Buxom full bodied lipstick in Dolly (beautiful mauve/dusty rose color and smooth non drying formula). This one was a 100 point perk at Sephora. It has replaced Bite Rhubarb as my favorite MLBB lipstick. Clinique's fresh bloom all over color (blush) - These are older, but the floral design on these are beautiful and the blush is nice. YSL's mini tint in oil in Cherry 04 - Got it as a GWP last month on YSL's official site. If you sign up for an account, you can choose 2 GWP when you check out. Love the color. Mini that I wish existed: Mini Nars Audacious lipsticks - one set in everyday colors and one set in unusual colors would be awesome. One can dream So I heard Kat Von D will come out with a mini set of liquid lipstick - even though liquid formula is usually too drying for me, I'm totally intrigued! Mini or a palette of Clinique cheek pops Mini set of UD Afterglow blushes Mini set of the UD new lip glosses (I got one mini in Bittersweet and it's super cute) Mini Givenchy lipstick set More Hourglass minis (blush, powder, bronzer) - we have dim light in mini currently, but I personally think it's too small for the price (about 1/7 of full size but half of the price). Although the palette is coming out for the holiday so that would be nice.
I want to purchase Laura Mercier mineral makeup powder but they do not carry it at my local Sephora so I must order it online. I cannot decide which color would but right. for me. Sometimes I am an Ivory and sometimes I am a Light in makeup. Please help. I am cool undertones. Thank you for your help.
You have the Mac highlighter pens in Radiant Rose(which is pinkish i guess) and Light Boost which is yellow. So yellow toned highlighters are more for darker skin complextions and not for fair skin. But why not a nude skin toned highlighter? What is the point With the yellow color?
Hello, any one knows if the NARS new cheek palette will be sold at Sephora? When? I'm dying to have it and I want to place an order here but should I wait for it? or buy it at Nordstrom? Please if you know about it tell me
Hi everyone! Lately I have noticed my deluxe sample collection has become out of control! I am planning to do a Project 10 Pan Challenge to get through some of them. If anyone hasn't heard of Pan 10, basically you give yourself a set amount of time to use up 10 items. I am focusing on deluxe samples because I have too many- I wouldn't want to do this with my full size items that I don't want to use up! I am planning on also doing a no-buy until I finish this challenge (in theory lol). Anyone want to join in a Pan 10 deluxe samples challenge? With or without the no buy? If you want to join-document your challenge here! I won't be offended if no one joins up, but I wanted to start this thread to keep myself accountable. My items: 1. MUFE Smoky Extravagant Mascara 2. Tarte Slenderizer Contour Pencil 3. Benefit Sun Beam 4. Supergoop! CC cream 5. EOS mint lip balm 6. Origins Plantscription Night Cream 7. Boscia Tsubaki Sleeping Mask 8. Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Powder 9. Nars Galaxy Girl lipstick 10. MAC lip liner in subculture
