Hey Guys! I've already mentioned in other threads that I come from Brazil but now live in Canada. I have this amazing friend who was my classmate at university back home. She got pregnant while we were at university and had to quit school to take care of the baby. She comes from a simple family, and since the government does not offer free or affordable day cares, she pretty much lives in isolation taking care of all the needs of her son who is now 3 and has autism. Now she is now pregnant with a second child, and even though I won't be there for the baby shower I managed for my mom to get her tons of little gifts for the baby and send to her as a surprise. However I would really like to give her something for her , since she now lives for her kids and of course will always provide to them first! She is an amazing person, that has gone and goes through a lot helping her special needs kids every day, and mostly alone. Her only scape is the beauty blog she owns! Bottom line: I plan on visiting Brazil later this year and I would like to give her some little make up gifts. It would make her extremely happy to be able to use all those "high end" brands for the first time, since back home it's really hard for her to buy them. (the a minimum wage where she lives is around U$ 360,00 a month, and in Brazil, for example the Naked Palette goes for roughly U$ 100,00, the Naked Basics for $75... ). That would also help her have nice and new material for her blog that is also what helps her have some financial independence and what keeps her sane! What kind of brands and little gifts do you guys suggest I get to a young mom? Lipsticks, cute value sets? I'm new to this world so IDK what to get! I know she loves red lipsticks, eye shadows, mascaras and blushes. But any suggestions would be welcome. Keep in mind that I'm a recent graduate on my first job ever so I don't have a large budget. I'll buy a small thing every month until my departure. but I'm already keeping a bag with all samples I get with purchases, to give it to her as well. Sorry for the long post, I just really want to plan for all the purchases, since I'm on a tight budget, and I want to have time to buy her a few little gifts so she can play with for a while!
MAC's Proenza Schouler collection went live today. I thought it would go live at midnight so I waited until about 3am until I drifted off to sleep. I woke up today to numerous messages from some BT pals telling me that the collection went live about 9am. Of course, I slept through these messages and by the time I saw them, the Ocean City blush I wanted was sold out. Luckily, I was able to order it on backorder so I'll be getting it in early May. I just want to know if anyone else was able to buy this blush before it sold out? Here's a picture of the prettiness:
There was someone who was going to do a foils/small sample TSB. I do not believe that person is still going to do it. If they are, I apologize and will not do one. I have been in two boxes and loved it but I have never started one. If anyone is still interested, I am willing to try to start one. We can use the same rules from the other TSB. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Also we need to decide if we want to do this with a small flat rate box (I believe shipping is around $6.00) or a medium flat rate box (I believe shipping is around 13.00). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! This box is open for US shipping only. Shipping becomes more expensive for Canada. Once we decide if we want to do a small or medium box I will post pics of what I will start the box out with. If at that time someone decides they don't like what I am starting the box out with just let me know. I want this to be fun for all. Once I get the box back I will go through it & give the leftover items to the local youth group who works with the homeless shelters in Fredericksburg VA. MAC seems to be on a rolling out so many collections, but they have been pretty underwhelming...although I usually pick up one or two things. Of all the previews that are floating around, I am most excited about the Pedro Lourenco collection, it looks so classic and I can never resist when they package in black and gold! I think second on my list is the Alluring Aquatics, although that packaging I could do without. What are on your guys lists?
Wow, 1506 hearts! That's quite the milestone and most certainly worth noting!!! Thanks so much for all the awesome tips and advice you give to all of us, without which we would not be bettering ourselves and being able to help others! It's always a pleasure! Haha, I especially loved scouring the internet for fun heart images!
I've seen women who can wear a full face of make up while working out - foundation, eyeliner, everything! I wouldn't wear any myself, because I frankly sweat like a pig and looking pretty/decent/presentable/human is probably the last thing on my mind, but I do marvel the ladies who can look so put together even when they're running or doing reps. I'm really curious how their makeup stays put. I can barely get my eyeliner to stay even when I'm not exercising and not end up with raccoon eyes! :/ (I'm a totally new makeup noob, btw....) Any workout goddesses want to share their secrets?
I've tried MUFE in 110 and it is still way too dark for my face. I would try 107 but I have a pretty neutral complexion so I'm pretty sure it'll just be a dark pink on me I can wear Bare Minerals in the lightest shade if I use a very light hand with it, but I'm looking for something with a medium coverage and preferably a dewy finish.
Hi! I loved the Disney Jasmine Palette, especially the color called "carpet", which is the top left one in the palette and the first one in the swatch picture. It's like a pink-purple-taupe-shimmer.....I love it! Can anyone suggest a dupe? Thanks.
I've seen a lot of YTers do this video and I thought it would be fun to do a makeup edition. This is just for fun and giggles So here are the guidelines, you don't have to name companies(but you can if you want), but just post things about makeup that you DON'T like. I'll go first. LOL Mid to high priced foundation that don't come with a pump! If I'm paying 40+ for a foundation give me the 5 cent pump! Lip products that you have to use your finger to apply. That is so nasty to me, even if you wash your hands you still putting OTHER stuff on your lips when you use your fingers OR those products that you have to use a brush (OCC lip tars!) I love those colors but I don't have time or the inclination for a brush. (My microbiology prof had us wash our hands, then wipe our fingers on a slide. We left it in the warmer (which is kept at body temp) and came back and 2 days. OHMYGAWD what grew on that slide was DISGUSTING. I can't do finger only applied products to my lips. NEVER.) Makeup lines that don't expand their colors! GRRRR! women of ALL colors love makeup why don't companies think of that or seem to care about that!? So that is that stuff you don't like?
I've been such a slave to Sephora & Ulta that I no longer own any drug store makeup. I'm on a tight budget right now so therefore I must downgrade on a few items. What are you favorite drug store or department store makeups? Eyeliners/Mascaras/Gloss/Eyeshadow...anything...Th anks!
Hi Ladies, I thought it may be good idea to hear from other fellow Rouges across the country and let us know what is going on at your event and what goodies you get, if any?! I would love to hear any of the following! Where is your store located? What Reps visited your store? What kind of food was there? lol Did you get any exclusive goodies besides the free makeup bag? What was in your haul?! (What you went in for, but really left with?) Please post pics!! Please no Drama! Happy Shopping!
I need a new foundation, preferably liquid, but I don't know which kind to get. My skin is dry/combination, and I have a light and neutral skin tone. Also, what is the best brush to apply it with? Help!
My sister wants to buy me something to get free shipping on her order. I have no idea what to get. On one hand, I want another foundation that is suitable for everyday, long lasting and is also flash photography friendly. I've decided between MUFE Mat Velvet and I want to give EL Double Wear another try in a different color. On the other hand, I want a powder/powder foundation that will help make my foundation last through the hot summer weather. I decided on the MUFE Duo Mat powder. I honestly have enough of everything that I really need.. There isn't really anything that I truly need. I STILL have my NARS sheer glow and radiant creamy concealer (i'm scared to use up my concealer). I have enough blush, bronzer, highlighter, and powder for the next year and a half. Can someone help? This always happens! When I want something, I will talk about it for a month. But when someone asks me what I want, I don't really want anything or I can't think of anything. Sorry for the long post.
I am making a short trip to Tokyo this summer. While a lot of it will be sight seeing, I most definitely will curve out time for shopping. So I just want to hear everyone's suggestions on things worth picking up! I am am not looking for foundations, concealors or powder (unless it's absolutely amazing, contemplating on Cle de peau concealor which is cheaper there). No eyeshadows either, maybe a few mascaras, liquid eyeliners, lip products and as many blushes/cheek products as I see fit and most certainly brushes. (I want to get some hakuhodo or chikuhodo, but any other suggestions are totally welcome) I would prefer something that's more accessible. I recall reading about some products that aren't sold outside of Japan (makeup), and I remember making a note to myself that I should get them when I go but I can't seem to remember. Anyone? So far (just so we don't duplicate) I have my eyes on -Kate mascara base -Kate cream blush (that comes in a jar) -Jill Stuart blush (just because it's so pretty) -Majorica majorca mascar Lastly any tips on good stores, getting around, places to see? Any suggestions are highly appreciated! Last lastly, any other non-makeup related must buys? Thanks tons!
so i used to use the mac 217 and i remember liking that brush, about 2 years ago i lost it somewhere and i picked up the sephora classic crease shadow brush #73 . Its decided to crap out on me and is actually hurting my eyelids when i'm using it . Any reccomedations on a new one? I'd like to spend $20 or under maybe a little more for something amazing that will last me a few more years. Ps i wash and care for my brushes often
so i got an email the other day for a delux sample of the guerlain meteorits sample the other day i was so thrilled because i wanted to try this . I could go in the store and try it on but the idea of getting to play with it was much better lol . I went to check out with the code the next day and it was expired already. Does anyone know if i can get these in store or is it gone forever lol
I desperately need your advice ladies. For days I have been going back and forth from what brushes to order to where to buy them from. One thing is for sure.....I want the F80 brush. Options to purchase at: Sigma site - shipping is about $9 and there's a 10% discount code plus a free gift over $30 spent. Amazon - free shipping over $35. Even though the item is from an authorized seller, I was reading reviews that they may be dupes Charmiss which is a store in Jersey that carries Sigma but it's a bit over an hour away. Im thinking I should just order from Sigma and get a few more brushes since the S&H is the same and I won't place more than one order. Sigma Kabuki Kit has the F80 brush plus 4 others and I was thinking about the Synthetic Precision 4 piece set. It's on sale for $45 but I'm. It sure if I can actually use them as eye brushes. Sorry for the lengthy thread but I'm having such a difficult time deciding which doesnt happen offen
So im wearing a light mint green prom dress and i have NO CLUE on what to do with my make up. i dont want something hard cuz im a beginner and i just want it to be easy and simple. i have semi fair skin with brown hair, brown eyes, long eyelashes and freckles. PLEASE HELP! Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Has anyone come across make-up removing wipes that don't have a smell to them? I've tried nearly every Neutrogena wipe out there (as well as Olay, etc.) and all of them seem to have perfumes in them. It's not a huge problem for me as my skin doesn't break out because of this, but I just personally would prefer to not have my skin smell like pink buttfruit every time I try and clean my face. Any recommendations?
Are any of you clean freaks? I absolutely hate it when my products get dirty. I hate when I have to pour foundation out and it gets around the mouth of the bottle and I can't clean every last bit of it and it just ends up dirtying the entire inside of the cap. I also hate getting concealer around the opening and dirty mirrors from powder fallout.
