Soooo, i have blue veins that are very visible under my eyes. They don't really disappear with concealer. Just partially. I do not colour correct as i don't know how. Would i use a colour corrector and then apply my normal skin-tone matching concealer? Help please!
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a concealer or corrector for acne. I rarely get any pimples but once in a while I get one or two and I don't like how it looks. I've been looking at Bare Minerals, Bobbi Brown, and Make Up For Ever but I don't know which one to choose. Thanks in advance!
So I have ordered 3 ByTerry Ombre Blackstar and waiting for them to come in the mail, but then I was in store today and saw that the LM Caviar Sticks are very similar and picked up Amethyst. Any BT-ers have any insight or comparisons for these products? Only because ByTerry seems really $$ for a cream eyeshadow stick but I've only seen rave reviews! I've also heard things about Bobbi Brown's Cream eyeshadow sticks as well.. hmmm....
Is liquid eyeliner better? Or gel? I've always used liquid with no problem, but if gel is better i'll switch over. Also, is the ABH dipbrow better, or the brow wiz? I would not say i have thick brows, but they are definitely not sparse.
Is anyone familiar with Barry M Cosmetics? Trying to buy the genie lip paint (green lipstick that turns the appropriate pink color for your lips). When I go to shipping, I can't find the US in the countries. Does anyone know where else I can buy it?
Some time ago I posted about checking blush prices based on the actual price per ounce. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Products/Blush-Pri ces-per-Ounce-can-be-Surprising/m-p/1459734#M13215 More recently, I was intrigued by the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight. It costs $44, which sounded about the same as the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Then I noticed that many reviews noted the tiny size of the product. So I did some comparisons: -Hourglass Ambient is 0.35 oz for $45, or $129 per oz. -Guerlain Meteorites Compact is 0.35 for $62, or $177 per oz. -Kevyn Aucoin Celestial is 0.11 oz for $44, or $400 per oz! What is this powder made of, jewel dust? It's off my list.
I'm a huge fan of the Lancome eye kohl stick. I also love my Thierry Mugler more authentic kohl. And I even like the Maybelline Master Kajal. I promise I really am working (hard!) this afternoon but suddenly I just needed to ask..what are the best eye kohls...pencil or other...out there? Any reliable authentic eye kohls that are available in the US that won't lead to blindness? Where and how can I get them? Thanks!
My birthday is next month, 3 weeks exactly. I get so splurge just for my birthday. I'm using my Ulta points, and right now all I have on my list is 1 shadow palette, 1 blush, and a whole lotta lippies lol. I need inspiration.! Give me some ideas, what are some of your favorite products? They could be from anywhere, not just Ulta *I know I did one of these last year, I'm sorry for the annual repeat lol!
Anyone bought these? What eye shadows are you using w/them? I love the color but am struggling w/ what eye shadow palettes/hues would look good. I have dark brown hair & eyes and medium skin tone. Thanks!
Hello all, Im not huge on foundations normally because I have really dry skin. SURPRISINGLY the estee Lauder Double Wear actually looks the most flawless on my skin. Ive tried many and many, I work in makeup and skin care and I have found it to really suit my skin. Very unexpected since its usually better for oily skin. Now my only problem is how to set it, or the best way to set it. I have a long day tomorrow with an event at the end of the day and not much time to do a face of makeup in between so I will have to do it at the beginning of the day and a similar situation in a week. Best way or best powder or best spray to set this and make it last with no breaking up or anything funky??
I'm almost out of my foundation, which is MAKE UP FOR EVER Duo Mat Powder Foundation in Light Beige. Sephora is out of this particular shade. Does anyone know if the Make Up For Ever Pro-Finish has an equivalent color? Or does anyone have a suggestion for a similar foundation that is oil-free and mattifying? Thanks!
So thanks to the wonderful ladies on here, I am waiting with baited breath for the UD sale on Hautelook. This will be my first purchase with them. In the past, i have always ordered from either Sephora, or more recently I have been ordering a LOT from Nordies. I have googled them to find out some info about their shipping ( which i still can't find prices on! ) but I have read a LOT of bad reviews. Can anyone fill me in on their experiences before i place my order when the sale goes live?
Apparently on tonight's ABC's 20/20 they will talk about counterfeit cosmetics among other counterfeit items. Would be a great show to watch! 20/20 Friday May 15, 2015 on ABC at 10pm EST We could use this post to discuss the show afterwards and share pictures so no one will get stuck with fakes. Just thought I'd share!
I've never tried anything from Docle and Gabbana, other than their blush. What are your thoughts about Dolce and Gabbana makeup? Has any tried their eyeshadow quads? How is the quality? My store doesn't carry these so I've never seen them in person before.
Hey ladies, I hope someone can help me out! I have an issue with my make up not staying on my chin. As soon as I apply it, it looks different on my chin than on other parts of my face. It will be flawless and smooth on my cheeks but on my chin it will look patchy and a few hours later most of it is gone. I usually prime with the hourglass veil primer but sometimes I switch it up. Sometimes I use concealer on my chin and if I do, its the MUFE full cover concealer. The foundations I rotate between are smashbox studio skin and bobbi brown BB cream. Any ideas of how to prevent it from looking patchy then wearing off my chin?
So the preview for the JEM movie is out and not sure what to think... I really wish MAC will do a collab. Anyone else? Any JEM collaborations you wanna see? Having problems uploading the youtuve video to the post... UGH
I was thinking about buying the Lorac Pro palette but the same thing stopped me that stopped me from buying the UD Naked: the fact that they have magnetic closures only and don't clip shut. I feel like it's bound to make a mess if I ever take it anywhere. Has packaging ever stopped y'all from buying an item?
Hello all! So we all know about Canada's Maple Collection, but let's talk about this berry collection exclusive to the U.S.! Beautezine posted this picture on their Instagram: https://instagram.com/p/2BTkPJzCTb/?taken-by=beaut ezine and made a comment about the US getting a berry collection. I have been looking through Instagram pictures with the #bitebeauty, and it appears there's an event called SBES (seems to be a Sephora University thing) going on today. There have been a few pictures posted already where a "Limited Edition Frozen Berry" lipstick is being made at the Bite Beauty table. See: https://instagram.com/p/2mBinJjj-E/?taken-by=__lin dseyann__ https://instagram.com/p/2lm-Z-C0V6/?taken-by=theha ppyhappy Ok so I noticed those pics also used the #frozenberries, and I found this pic, it's official!: https://instagram.com/p/2jywsLmCQd/?taken-by=alexc ruzmkup EDIT: Bite Beauty just posted this picture! https://instagram.com/p/2mOR7-CAGL/?taken-by=biteb eauty_
Hello All, Greenporchlights, KBMatthews, Zpsid91 and I are sponsoring this Best Practices thread to help TSB participants and coordinators have a smooth and fun experience. Below are the best practices we’ve come up with for the entire community. TSB Coordinators can choose to use all or some of this as they are starting their TSB’s. What is a TSB: TSB stands for Traveling Sephora Box. It is a trade box amongst a group of community members who are trading items (New and/or used) with each other. The box is started by a TSB Coordinator and then moves on to specified people in the group by mail. At the end the box is returned to the box coordinator for them to decide how the items will be allocated. Options have been to donate to charities, or roll the box into additional rounds. TSB Eligibility Requirements- Who can Join : Strongly Advised: Must be 18 or older to participate VIB or Rouge Status (recommendation) Must have 500 Hearts (recommendation: 750+ hearts) This is up to the discretion of the TSB Coordinator. While we recommend 500 hearts, you can go lower if you doing a Drugstore box. Active member of the community for at least 3 months (recommendation) Definition of active: Participates in threads regularly. (ie: at least one time a week) Ability to pay between $17- $28 for shipping fees (US and CDN) Must have access to a camera and device to upload pictures to post pictures of trades Reference from another successful TSB Coordinator and/or members Provide the TSB Coordinator reference, or the thread that shows your positive participation in a TSB within the last 6- 12 months (recommendation 6-12 months) Must provide your contact information (recommended e-mail, mailing address, phone number) to the TSB Coordinator Optional: Location Specific: Open to US Only Open to Canada Only Open to both US and Canada Box deposit – The Box coordinator can require a box deposit for participation in the box. This can alleviate the concern of boxes ending up missing The deposit can be only required for participants who have not met the outlined Eligibility requirements. The deposit can be anywhere from between $50-$200. The deposit should be help in the PayPal account of the Box Coordinator, or another trusted member of the box. It should be paid before the participants turn, and promptly returned as soon as the box is with the next participant. General TSB Guidelines Trade items that are equal in value and brand quality or better. For example, Dior for Guerlain would be a good trade, as would Too Faced for Tarte. Do not trade Dior for Tarte. Do not take more than you put in. Please ensure your trade is adding value to the box. Trade full sized items for full sized items. If a full size item you’d like to add is over 8oz or is bulky, share it with the group prior to your trades to gauge interest. If someone is interested in this item, it may be included. Consider keeping the box balanced. If there are a lot of skincare items, add items from a different category if you’re able to. Do not take all of one category from the box. For example, do not take all the palettes or masks. If you’re not sure if an item is appropriate, post the item and ask the group. Do not include duplicate items unless there is specific interest. Trading Cost Guidelines Full sized: Items should be valued at their full retail value. Even if items were on sale at one point, or were purchased for more than retail, they should be valued at the regular full price. Exceptions may be made if an item is easily available to everyone and is on sale/clearance. This is at the discretion of the box coordinator. New/lightly swatched = no price change Used 1-2x = take 10% off value Used 3-4x = take 20% off value Anything more than 4x = please use your best judgement and wait for input Deluxe samples : Calculate based off largest size available of said product. For example, if a deluxe sample is 0.5oz, and the full size is 2 oz and worth $60, then the deluxe sample is worth $15. Must be either new and unused, or very lightly used. Take 10% off value if lightly used/swatched Do not include deluxe’s if you've lightly used them even once. Foils = no value or $1 each (box coordinator may decide) Packaging: Package things carefully (bubble wrap or tissue paper if possible) and put things in labeled Ziploc bags. Try to leave the TSB in better condition than you found it Items that are more fragile (like perfume bottles) should be bubble wrapped individually Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won’t leak or break and ruin other things in the box. Every item needs to be inside a plastic bag/Ziploc Label the Ziploc bags to outline the categoriy that goes into that specific bag Try not to pack more than a large flat rate USPS box can hold! We want this to stay affordable for everyone. If you absolutely cannot fit into one box – give a head’s up to the next person!! Label the outside of the box with “Fragile” and “This Side Up” to further limit damage to the items inside the box Courtesies: Don't put in anything unsanitary! (i.e. used lipgloss, used liquid lipstick, used cream products, used mascara) Post a picture and write info of what you took and left, with their condition and value – this way members can weigh in on the trades before shipping Include close up, open photos of any items that will be sealed that you cannot see the color through. This includes lipsticks, palettes, blushes, etc. No reserve items in the box for others, and don’t ask to have any items reserved for you - this is unfair to others participating Don't swatch items from the box - this is a hygienic precaution that we must take as a lot of people will be handling these items Swatched/used items must be labeled as such. All opened items must be cleaned/sanitized prior to their addition to the box Sanatizing consists of spraying the item with a makeup sanitizer, or making your own with half parts 70% alcohol and water. Try not to put in LARGE full sized items, like large bottles over 8 oz. This box becomes very full and it is harder for the person repacking and forces them to take something they may not want or use. Exceptions can be made if someone really wants the item Must post photos of all swaps and wait for approval from the thread before sending the box to the next recipient. The box coordinator and 50% of participants should give the OK for your trade. Give the group 24 hours to review your trades and provide feedback. Please contribute mid to high-end beauty products only. No drugstore items. (Unless it’s a drugstore box) If you have questions or you are unsure of an item, ask! Optional: Must adhere to online cataloging of values and trade-outs through a communal spreadsheet A required signature would be best. Please contact the person on the list after you about arranging for safe arrival, whether that means alternatively shipping to the person's workplace, or to a PO box, etc. Any larger items (full-size perfume, larger body care, larger skincare, large palettes) MUST be proposed first before adding to your trade. If the next 2-3 people aren't interested, please switch that item out. Exceptions can be made if there is ample room in the box and there is interest later in the box. Allowed in the box: Depending on the box theme, you may include different items and brand levels. For a general TSB, rule of thumb is to only include mid to high end products (think brands sold at Sephora, The Bay, Nordstrom, etc). Fragrance can be included if it's in a spray bottle (can be 1/2 used if there is interest); rollerballs allowed only if lightly used/swatched/new Nail polish must only be lightly used, clean, and tightly closed Tools/Brushes/Cases/Bags as long as they are clean Anything that is sealed (as long as it fits with the other guidelines) Skin care items in tubes & bottles. Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won't leak or break & ruin everything else Keep non-beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). Not allowed in the box: Pre-made samples Drugstore or lower end items (unless a Drugstore box) Heavily used items (except for perfume) Swatching items in the box Any product that you “dunk” a wand into or you dip your fingers into (like lip gloss or mousse blush) if they’re not new and unused. These cannot be sanitized. Large or bulky items unless there is interest No duplicates unless they are high end or highly sought after products Mail Tracking All participants must provide a tracking number for their shipment, posted to the thread upon receipt. Insurance specifications will be determined by the box leader per each individual box. However, a general rule of thumb is to cover the charity buy-in, if there is one. For example, if a box’s buy-in is $20 and there are 10 participants, each person should purchase enough insurance to cover $200. At the start of the box, each participant should PM the person who will next receive the box to determine shipping details. These shipping details should be confirmed again by PM before sending out the box. When specifying shipping instructions, choose the option that optimizes both the security of the box and timely retrieval, whether that means having the box shipped to a workplace to ensure a signature, to a PO Box, etc. Each participant is responsible for notifying box the box leader, as well as the participants before and after them, should their availability or instructions change. For Canadian TSBs, a rule of thumb for the train is to plan out the route based on location. Shipping costs can be extremely high and take quite a while; minimizing the distance between each stop is ideal for everyone. Item tracking Upon receiving the box, all participants must post photos of every item in the box to account for its contents. The box leader must confirm all items are present, but it is encouraged that all participants take inventory for greater accuracy and accountability. Box leaders are encouraged to utilize a spreadsheet that all participants can view online for greater accountability. Box leaders can also make the spreadsheet communal, providing participants with the ability to claim and add their own items to the list once trades have been approved. Google Sheets is free and available to edit to anyone with a link to the sheet—all changes save automatically within a web browser; certain spreadsheet cells can be “data locked” by the box leader following each trade to safeguard values and list contents, thus preventing potentially dishonest participants from changing or deleting them. PM Greenporchlights for a tutorial on how to set up a spreadsheet, disburse it to participants, lock data, format, etc. In lieu of, or in addition to, an electronic spreadsheet, box leaders may elect to use a physical tracking sheet in the box that participants must complete after trades have been approved. Participant “Tracking” We cannot publically keep a place in the community for people who have had questionable trade experiences; however, please PM one of the sponsors to get guidance on this if you have questions. Before accepting any participant into a box, ask for references from other BT members and check the trade threads. Post trade thread links to this thread for easy reference checking. Box coordinators can post links to their box here so future box participants can easily check one place for references. I am having the hardest time finding the best moisturizer, BB/CC Cream and Foundation for my skin. In my teens and most of my 20's I had very dry skin. Once I had my second child and turned 30 my skin changed drastically and became VERY oily. Now I am closer to 40 and it seems my skin has changed again. I still have oily areas but I am starting to see lots of dry flaky patches no matter what moisturizer I try. I also in the past prefered a full coverage foundation but I am now finding that it looks SUPER cakey in the oily spots and VERY flakey in the dry patchy spots which are around my eyes, mouth (in my smile lines) the corners of my mouth and even my chin. My oiliness tends to be in areas that my hair touches, like my cheeks and parts of my forehead. I have a ton of hair and it definitely leans more towards the oily side. I am in Missouri and it tends to get pretty humid in the summer here so I am reluctant to go back to stuff that focuses on dry skin because I think it will make the oily areas of my face even more oily. I definitely need professional advice on what products (not just moisturizer) to buy!! HELP!!!!!
