Hi People! I need help looking for a new berry/ cranberry lipstick for fall and winter. I'm fair skinned with light brown hair and blue eyes. I just don't want to look like a clown but I really want to push my style. HELP!
I have the Dior Skin Forever Wear-Extending Invisible Retouch Powder, and I love it! The only thing that I am confused about is that the back of the puff it comes with is leather... I usually take this powder on the go for touchup, so I do use the puff constantly. But now it's getting nasty, and I have no clue whether I should clean it or what should I do. Could anyone please help me?
Hi Beauties, Okay, so we've all been there. We tell another makeup/skincare lover that you have some wacky, zany idea about some certain technique and-WHAM! They're blown away and don't think it works. But wait-it does! My tip is that when contouring, don't make a fishy face. Pull you hair back around your ear and take the end of a small brush. Move the end from your mid ear to your hairline-this is most likely where your cheekbone will be. If you don't feel it, move up. And once you have everything mapped out, take an eyeshadow brush and sculpt out a line. Then, blend it out with a big, fluffy brush and you have that AMAZING contour! So what's your makeup tips?
It is quite interesting to hear how we prioritize makeup usage. Some folks must do brows if nothing else. Others might be attached to foundation. Mascara is a favourite of many. I would love to hear what you think. If you could only use one makeup product, what would it be? If you could use 2? How about 3? Which products do you think add the most to your look? Don't include skincare ....just makeup. Mine are: Only 1 - lipstick Only 2 - lipstick, foundation or bb Only 3 - lipstick, foundation or bb, blush Only 4 - lipstick, foundation or bb, blush, eyebrow pencil Only 5 - lipstick, foundation or bb, blush, eyebrow pencil, concealer For me 3 products is the magic number - I get the most bang for the buck with the first 3. After that it is diminishing returns.... I do like lipsticks. They make everything better.
I just thought that people would want to know that, as of 6:30 pm EST today, Nordstrom's has the Guerlain Holiday 2014 Meteorites in stock. I saw on BT that Sephora plans to have it in stock within the next few weeks, but for those who don't want to wait... P.S. They seem to have the rest of the holiday collection in stock, too.
Hello beautiful ladies and gents! I am in a crisis and need advice/help. About 9 months ago I changed by foundation from Bare Minerals to Cover FX. It was a huge jump for me to go from powder to liquid and I was very excited about the change. I learned a lot about make up and skin care from posts on here and by watching my favorite guru, Jaclyn Hill. This desperation comes after an embarrassing moment the other day when I hugged the President of our company after a huge deal and he moved away and all I could see was my foundation all over his shirt. It was such a cringe moment, I almost cried. My boyfriend won't even allow me to hug him either cause the same has happened to him. My current routine is moisturizing first with Perricone MD Photo Plasma with SPF 30, using Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer Broad Spectrum, then using a Beauty Blender to put on my foundation which is Cover FX Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation (my Color IQ is 2Y11). I use MAC Prolong wear concealer for the under eyes. I set my concealer with Laura Mercier Eye Brightening Powder and then set the rest of my face with Makeup Forever HD Powder (I use the compact). I find that after a few hours my makeup gets really shiny on my cheeks, nose and forehead. I begin taking paper towels to the face to blot the oil but it only helps so much. I do have oily skin, but around my mouth is a bit dry. I also have huge pores, but have come to terms that I may not be able to get rid/hide them. After a days work I look at my skin my cheeks looks like the foundation has create a layer of oil. It's pretty bad. So my fellow Beauties I come to you with an open wallet. I would like to know if you have any suggestions on controlling the oil (maybe I need a better foundation) and to stop the make up transfer. xoxo
I am interested in buying a bronzer, and I am debating between the Marc Jacobs Omega and Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Natural. I have light skin with neutral undertones, so I cannot use a color that is too orange or too red. I would love a bronzer that is easy to blend and looks matte/natural. Which bronzer is better? Thanks!
I recently bought the Sephora Favorites Glitz & Glam Party Essentials Sampler which came with a matte red Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick. I instantly loved the colour and texture and was keen to wear it out for brunch (I've been on a daytime matte red lipstick kick, don't judge). I applied some liberally, took the lipstick I was planning on wearing out of my handbag, replaced it with my new pretty, and bounced out of the house. Roughly 30 minutes later, my usually very diplomatic boyfriend leaned over to me and said "when we get home, we're burning that lipstick in a fire, it shouldn't be allowed to exist". I was very startled and confused until he pointed out that it had transferred to my water glass, my tea cup, my cutlery, the food I had taken a bite out of..... Basically, it was like my lipstick had become a roadmap for everywhere my lips had been. I was horrified. He then started to look like he wanted to say something, but couldn't quite spit it out. Eventually he muster up the courage and whispered in a much lower voice " it also splattered all over your face". I nearly died. I tried everything to get the stain off my face and eventually had to give up and cover it with powder foundation until I got home. The worst. Which products have you tried that should be burnt in a fire? Real disasters only
Hey all, I got color matched a few weeks back as a 2Y03. I bought the MUFE HD foundation and the NARS TM in N117 and Finland per the IQ, but both are WAY too light! They make me look completely washed out and like I have a mask on. Anyone else tried and failed with Color IQ?
After a day of shopping I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and ended up at the beauty aisle. I was approached by a Target SA and she presented herself as a beauty advisor for Target. I didn't know they had beauty consultants at Target! She showed me some new brands of skincare and makeup. And best of all she had a lil tool like Sephora's IQ for foundation match up and she match me up to my foundation shade. She gave me a alot of samples of skincare and a few foundation shades. I was definitly impressed with Target.
So I wanted to browse for a lipstick similar to a LE from NArs and see if I could find something like it but I didn't...nothing can compare. Anyway, I noticed in the middle of the store they have a lot of Benefit products and a big stand.... I didn't see any benefit girls which I fond odd, otherwise why did they remodel the whole store.... is this happening in every ulta? I'm not hating on benefit, there's some products I do like, I just found it odd. Also, would the brow zing be better than the tarte mousse? I'm trying to find a product that isn't anastasia? for brows
My routine is pretty automated in the mornings and I don't have any extra time. I guess I wasn't really awake today then when I packed a whole lot of MAC Cranberry onto my 239 and laid it on. Heavy. Before work. I can wear those colors I love, sparingly, on work days, but this was a bit much. Worse....when I used a nice brown for my crease color there was enough Cranberry that it blended in and lifted the tone higher. i just wore it for the day but wondered if there isn't time to do a re-do, are there quick fixes for things like that? Neutralize a bright color? Tone down a shimmery shade? Tone down blush? I have a really dark burgundy blush that is potent on my fair skin, even a little is easy to overdo. If I use a duo fibre its a little lighter, plus I can apply finishing powder, that tends to tone it down. Any other tricks? Just wondering if you have quick fixes for these or other makeup situations.
This year I'm preparing for Christmas a bit earlier, in order to take advantage of the 20% off VIB sale this year, and was wondering what other BT'ers here usually like to buy for their friends. Most of my friends like makeup, and like to wear it, but only wear it about once a month if at all. There has been many hysterical conversations where they've admitted to me why they don't buy mascara. It's because they feel wasteful about using it only a handful of times before it expires. Needless to say, every year I buy and hoard mini's of everything for the glorious fun day of girly squealing. The mini's I typically keep for gifting are mascara, eyeliners, primers, perfume, and other bits and bobs. Oh, and a travel skin care set in a small makeup bag. This year has been pretty generous with me, and I was thinking of adding something really nice with each package. Any recommendations? What do you like to give your girlfriends?
Now that I've had a week to play around with the Mega Pro palette, here is what I think of it. Pros: Value: $59 USD for 32 eyeshadows and no primer LORAC Pro 1 and 2 value - $84 before tax You save $25 2 in 1 palette Perfect gift for someone whose into makeup Colors and pigmented, blend really well, can be used wet or dry Slim, easy to carry multiple looks good balance of warm and cool shades Compliments 1 and 2 nicely jewel tones Cons: a lot of fallout when picking up color packaging gets dirty very easily Shadows can become loose and shatter easily so be careful needs darker blending/transition shades leans a tad bit warm Favorites: Smokey Topaz Mulberry Opal (This looks like Becca Champagne Gold when swatched side by side) Maroon Merlot Deep Teal Indigo Granite Fawn Overall I think this is a really good, palette to add to your collection and to use as a complimentary palette alongside the Pro 1 and 2. I do wish they had darker transition/blending shades for darker skin such as Sable from Pro 1 because I had to go back in later with my HG transition shades, MUG Cocoa Bear and MAC Swiss Chocolate to add definition and warmth. But I do really like it. I have found dupes/similar shades of certain shades in the Tamanna, Amrezy, Pro 1 and 2 palettes if anyone would like to see comparison swatches. I am willing to do them. I hope this helps everyone! Please let me know what you think of the palette if you have it.
Hi guys I need a bit of help choosing a tinted brow gel that matches my hair. My natural hair color is a darkish brown and my eyebrows are the same color. My skin undertone is yellowish/olive. I will be dying my hair black soon and I'm wondering what color brow gel would be best for black hair. If anyone could give me some suggestions that would be great! x
What are everyone's thoughts on these? Based on YT (even some of my non-biased "gurus") rave about these. I searched BT for any threads but didn't see any. I've gotten some good recs from here so I'd love to see if any of you all have used these! The prices are fair, and so is the shipping.
With your powers combined... I know we can find me a deal or a nice GWP on my first Kjaer Weiss products! It needs to be somewhere that sells the refill pan packs. I want to buy a foundation refill, a blush refill, and the highlighter refill. I don't currently own any cream products because of my sensitivities, but since KW is 'cone-free and more natural, I'm going to give a (big) try! This will be my birthday gift . Since they will live in zPalette on my vanity area, I am just going to invest in the refill pans for now (yay for less packaging and saving money too). So, I'm looking for good deals, coupons, codes, GWP, from places that well Kjaer Weiss - Beautylish, ECODIVA, Net-A-Porter, SpiritBeauty, Beautybar... Kjaerweiss.com... I think I have a $10 Off code for Beautylish. I can't use the new customer codes for BeautyBar because those are once per household, I believe. I'm signed up for emails from all these sites, but nothing good yet/lately... Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Beauties ! i would like to ask you how do you like to learn some new makeup ideas. Do u prefer watching Beauty Gurus on Youtube , reading blogs and magazines or watching some of the MakeUp Brands Tutorials? Just like to know what people prefer in general. kissessss
Hi, I have pretty bad melasma/hyper-pigmentation on my face. In the past I have used Chanel foundations but now it just looks like I am piling on the foundation which makes me look much older. Lately I have been using Calvin Klein foundation but again, same problem. Can anyone recomend a full coverage foundation that will mask my hyper-pigmentation areas without making me look like I have a pound of make up on?
Hello Beauties, been saving up for my first Tom Ford product and wanted a little help picking something out. What would you suggest to start off my TF collection? I am super into lipsticks and eyeshadows, so I'd like to try something out from these categories. Any classic "must haves" or fun new items that you're aware of?
I recently bought the kat von d foundation in light No 46, I'm not sure if this is the right shade because when I put it on it looks a little yellow. I'm not sure if I need a darker shade or a lighter shade. My skin is so weird when it comes to foundation, it never seems like I get the right color.
Im getting married and need to know what the best foundation, mascara, eyeliner and lipsticks are for a down pour of tears? I don't wear makeup very often. and the stuff I have is about 5-8 years old. Any advice would be great!
So I just used 2 of my Guerlain powders--1 is the Terracotta Light Bronzer and the other is the pressed Meteorites Voyage. Both have that signature violet scent. I've had these powders for almost a year and I've used them on very few occasions and always with clean brushes. When I used them today, I noticed that my brush had a weird sour smell when I ran it across my nose. I thought maybe it was my brush so I tried another brush with the bronzer and still got that sour smell. Then I thought maybe my foundation was causing that smell so I used another brush, swirled it around my face and there was no scent so I'm pretty sure that sour smell is coming from my Guerlain powders. My question is, has anyone else noticed that their Guerlain powders smell sour? Have my powders expired or is that normal? There isn't any suggested expiration date on the packaging, and I don't see parabens in the ingredients...just benzyl alcohol so I'm assuming the lack of many preservatives means that it goes bad quickly...which sucks...they were so expensive and honestly performed mediocrely and now they've possibly gone bad. Update: According to his article, some people just pick up the violet scent as being sour...so I guess it's not bad? Interesting that different people smell things different though. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-238 3238/Love-smell-beer-cheese-Thank-DNA-Scientists-c ...
