Recently I was purging my collection when I came across these two items. They're the ones that have made it through all of my purges no matter how ruthless. Why? Because they have sentimental value. The Lancôme Color Design Artist Palette (2007-2008) was the first "high end" palette I ever bought and playing with it is really what got me into high end makeup. I also had a ridiculous amount of fun while wearing this palette and discovered both the purple and the navy smokey eye as my signature night time "go-to" look. The L'Oréal Laetitia Casta "look" combo (2007) is what really got me into thinking about "looks" and how everything goes together. What sentimental makeup items are you guys hanging on to?
I first learned about this from Wayne Goss' FB page so I had to search for it. He said it will be available in Selfridges UK (GBP 180) on Nov 1. Does anyone have more info for US? So far I only found this pic from the Fashion North blog:
I know the Best Bite Remix set is available now. But I was hoping they would put out a larger set - like they did last year. I bought this set last year and love it. Anyone know if they are doing something similar this year?
I have been, as I'm sure many of you also have, very concerned about cosmetic ingredients and the potential dangers of many chemicals. There are lots of scary articles out there about loads of common ingredients, and I find it difficult to separate facts from fear mongering. I was just directed to a great website that actually provides the published scientific reviews of cosmetic ingredients, rather than just kind of saying "Trust us, we're scientists". I can't post the link here, but you can google The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (cir-safety) There's plenty of reading to go through, but it's pretty well organized and approachable for someone like me with no scientific training. I just wanted to share this resource in case there are some of you who have been looking for info like this!
So normally getting a palette with a misspelled label isn't a huge deal. I mean, it does tweak my Virgo need for order, and it does irk when it's from a high-end brand. This misprint of "Deep Night", though, skates a little too close to the racial slur line for comfort. Obviously it's not intentional, but I wonder how many of these slipped through quality control. I'm debating whether to exchange it, or just try adding the letters in myself with liquid paper or something.
I just got a pretty big Chanel haul and I'm organizing some of my goodies. I'm wondering what anyone does with those black velvet pouches that you get with Dior, Chanel, etc. Do you keep your products in them? Toss them? Use them for anything? I don't really want to keep my products covered in the vanity. I would if I took it on the go, but right now everything is staying at home. So I put the pouches lining one of my makeup drawers and put the product cases on top.
I've moved back into my house and there was of course stuff that was in storage for three years. Among my stuff was of course makeup. Well, in particular there was a lip balm (it's called a fat balm from Emily the Strange that I don't think they make anymore sadly), that I got a few years before it was in storage. It was in a makeup bag that was then of course put in a cardboard box and then put in storage. So on to my point: I'd really like to use it again (upfront, I haven't put it on again as I would like everyone's opinion on here as I totally trust you guys), but I don't know if it's still ok for me to put on. I smelled it, and it didn't have a funky smell nor did it look like it had mold growing on it or anything like that, and I don't think there's a time limit on when to use it. Part of me is telling me to throw it away, but the other part of me doesn't want to and to use it. I'm think I know what you guys will say, but I need to hear it anyway xD. Is this lip balm still safe to use? Do I have to just disinfect it, and if so how?
So I finally succumbed to peer pressure (my friends) and tried the Beauty Blender. I hadn't tried it because I love using my brushes, but I thought it might work well for my beauty balm. And it's not that it doesn't work, it does blend out nicely, but certainly no better than my brushes or fingers. And I'm really OCD about dirt and bacteria. I tried to wash it with soap and water and it did nothing, which means I'd have to buy the cleanser too - so that's almost $60 CAD for a product that doesn't work any better than my present methods. Too bad, why didn't I listen to my gut on this one. I'll have to return it. Bummer.
Today for whatever reason I decided to look up articles on how parents deal with their younger kids wanting to try makeup. While most of the article were fine, trying to address possible worries of parents, the comments I read were awful! Women who were apparently mothers(ones I'm glad mine was never like) were calling 11 year old girls "future hook*rs" because they were wearing makeup. Now I know there are going to be a lot of different opinions on when it's ok for girls to wear makeup, but calling a 13 year old a sl*t just because she started wearing makeup and you don't like her style is unacceptable. Maybe makeup can have a negative impact on a girl's self esteem if she starts wearing it early, but I have a hard time taking the people who say this seriously when they then turn around and insult young girls and say they'll be worthless for the rest of their lives just because they're wearing heavy eye shadow in middleschool. Those people should be far more concerned with the effects of their nasty words than with a lip gloss purchase. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to get out my anger in a place with people that realize makeup isn't the devil.
I have been on the hunt for a good neutral palette for a long time and the two of these palettes have sparked my interests. However, the mini full exposure palette seems to have really mixed reviews. Half of them seem to love it while the other half says that it isn't pigmented and it fades fast. I like the colors better in the full exposure palette than the natural eye palette, but based off of reviews it sounds like I would be better off getting the too faced palette. Does anyone have any input on which palette performs better? I don't want to end up getting a palette that lacks quality.
I'm trying to decide between a few le & holiday sets that Sephora has. I feel like I needed to post a picture because I just opened my box (finally caved and bought the Tarte Amazonian shadow pallet) and I have never been happier with my samples! I got lucky and got the Dior Baume and the REN renewal mask! I felt like I got two extra deluxe samples without using a code for them…you just made my day, Sephora! The Dior sample is packaged so cute, the paper is has quilted texture with a little magnetic closure, like a super nice blotting paper case. I think I might pop some business cards in this one and reuse it! *and apparently all posts automatically go into the Acne category now, even if we change it? Weird.*
Hi guys. So, I'm looking for a little help before I actually go shopping. I never wear makeup, but am looking into starting to do so but I'm trying to keep it as natural as possible. I have very fair skin. Looking for some ideas as to where to start and what brands and colors to focus on. Thanks for the help!
I think I want it. But there are a few items that I don't need. Like a red lipstick. A red lipliner. A mascara. The rest, I will use though. I have been dying to try the aqua seal. I need a new brow gel. I need some powder. Should I get it? It's on my VIB sale wish list, but I doubt it's going to be in stock until then! http://www.sephora.com/makeup-artist-picks-P383704 ?skuId=1561216
I found this photo under the limited edition section of the MUFE site. The colors look like those from a typical spring palette, but why would they post a pic in October? Has anyone heard of or seen this before? I don't want to get too excited in case this was a placeholder photo
Just when you thought it was safe! It's the Hardwired Holiday Collection. Lipsticks, lip glosses, eyeshadows and a blush. They're not as expensive as Audacious. (Yay!). You can see swatches on Temptalia. Hope Sephora gets them soon-Fleur Femme is calling my name!
Can anyone tell me the undertones of the Nudestix Concealer pencils? I purchased it in the medium 6 shade but had to return it. It was almost perfect for me, except that it had more pink undertones to it, and my complexion is more golden/warm. I loved the product but now I am not sure if any of the shades will work for me!
i really hope this isn't the case, but when i go to the ellis faas brand page, it is still there, but there are no products. is this just a temporary thing??? i need to restock my lippies: there is no red like ellis red!!!
Like zombies at Halloween, some UD items keep coming back Here's the pencil set for $39 (I was able to add this to cart): http://www.sephora.com/ocho-loco-2-P382583?skuId=1 550631 Anarchy Face case and Feminine palette are back in the Sale section: http://www.sephora.com/search/saleResults.jsp?keyw ord=Sale&topNav=true&ref=900070&sale=true&pageSize ...
For those who have gone to a Sephora liplab event, what was your experience? I have heard that they don;t let you mix shades at the event, just choose from an available selection and choose finish and scent.
