There was someone who was going to do a foils/small sample TSB. I do not believe that person is still going to do it. If they are, I apologize and will not do one. I have been in two boxes and loved it but I have never started one. If anyone is still interested, I am willing to try to start one. We can use the same rules from the other TSB. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Also we need to decide if we want to do this with a small flat rate box (I believe shipping is around $6.00) or a medium flat rate box (I believe shipping is around 13.00). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! This box is open for US shipping only. Shipping becomes more expensive for Canada. Once we decide if we want to do a small or medium box I will post pics of what I will start the box out with. If at that time someone decides they don't like what I am starting the box out with just let me know. I want this to be fun for all. Once I get the box back I will go through it & give the leftover items to the local youth group who works with the homeless shelters in Fredericksburg VA. Ok, this needs to be done. Starting this thread has been mentioned before, but I'm taking the leap. Below, I'll start a list of commonly mispronounced beauty brands, so please comment if you want to correct me or add another brand. This is for all you perfectionists out there! Anastasia : ah-na-STAH-see-uh Borghese : bore-GAY-zeh Boscia : BOE-sha Bourjois : boor-zjwah Caudalie : COE-dah-lee Chanel : shun-NELL Chantecaille : shahn-tuh-KAI Ciate : see-AH-tay Clinique : clih-NEEK Estee Lauder : EHS-tay LAH-der Givenchy : zjee-VON-shee Guerlain : gare-LAHN Illamasqua : il-lahm-MAS-ka Jouer : zjoo-EH Jurlique : jer-LEEK Koh Gen Do : coh gen doh (hard g) Korres : koh-REHZ Laura Mercier : LOH-rah mehr-see-AE (r is a French nasal r) Lancome : lahn-comb L'Occitane en Provence : LOHX-ee-tahn uhn pro-VAHNCE LORAC : lah-ROCK Marchesa : mar-KAY-zuh NYX : nix Ole Henriksen : OO-lah ON-rick-son Omorovicza : oh-more-oh-VEET-sah Shiseido : shih-SAY-doh Shu Uemura : SHOO oo-eh-MOO-rah Stila : STEE-lah Yves Saint Laurent : EVE sahn loh-RAHN Feel proud if you've been saying them right! We're all pretty much brand snobs here, be it Neutrogena or Tom Ford. Also, the French people are annoying. Most of these brands are French!
I decided to do a little decorating of my makeup storage (one of my 7 drawer containers- I have two more to do). It was so fun to do and really easy. I just purchased a 7 drawer plastic container, a package of stick-on pink dots/gems and gem buttons. Used double-sided tape for the dark pink buttons. So fun!
Hello :3 I am in need of a new skincare/makeup routine. I'll post the skincare questions in another discussion, so I'll focus this one on makeup. I've been wearing the same makeup every day for the past two years. I'm really getting sick of it, but I'm scared to try something new. This is what I currently do: 1. BB cream (Dr. Jart Black Label Detox, Boscia, or Smashbox) 2. Powder (Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Powder foundation, applied lightly) 3. Blush (drugstore- Milani Luminoso it's peach w/ shimmer. Tried orgasm, didn't like it) 4. Eyeshadow (light brown over eyelid, white on browbone, drugstore - I think it's Maybelline) 5. Liquid Eyeliner top lid (Stila, Black) 6. Mascara 7. Lips (idk I always use something different. chapstick, bright pink, or tarte lipsurgence shimmer color I have that Im wearing in the photo, I don't really like the color it ages me a bit, but I like the product) I'm Mac NC25 if that helps! I really want a new routine and a new look. I would get a makeover done in Sephora but I'm honesty too shy to do that haha. Idk if I should try some brown pencil liner? Different shadows? A different blush color? (Im actually sick of that one) Thank you I appreciate it!!! =) ♥♥♥
Hi Everyone! I recently placed my order for the new Divergent collection from Sephora and I am so excited that I don't have much patience waiting for it to arrive. I was hoping to find out if someone else purchased and already received their kit? Does anyone have any swatches? I would love to see them, it would help me out with the whole waiting process.
Hey everyone! The Balm is on Haute Look today. I was waiting with bated breath for the little notice it was live and immediately headed over there and got an item or two. The selection is nice- eye shadows, lipsticks, conceal ours. On my quest for copper shadows, I ended up finding 1 there that may work! happy makeup shopping!
Maybe I was getting my hopes up, but Sephora has been doing some promoting for the movie "Divergent" and I got excited because I thought they would be selling a limited edition Divergent line of makeup. Anyone know anything about this? **fingers crossed**
Eleven new WG brushes coming to Beautylish! The Face Set: $265, available in March And the Eye Set: $148, available in April Whyyyy...I totally can not afford these right now, but I am certain that I will buy at least a few individual brushes!
Hey ladies, I was called a brand snob yesterday. I can't help that I like pretty things like gold packaging! I don't know, I think the gold and luxury beauty products look so pretty on your vanity, but of course I buy drugstore too (Milani, revlon, ect). I was really offended by this because I buy all types of makeup from different places and it was my MOM that called me a brand snob. Have you ever been called that before? I've had this issue with my mom before with other things too. I don't know I spend my own money on this stuff and I like to treat myself (and I actually use it) so I don't know why she has a problem with how I spend my money.
Ever since Urban Decay was bought out my L'Oreal (Grrrrrr) I've been quite confused as to what brands sold at Sephora do and don't test on animals. Could someone please let me know what brands do and don't test on animals? This also includes third party testing, being owned by a parent company that tests on animals (which is Urban Decay's case with L'Oreal) and whether or not the brand sells their products in China (which because of their government requires animal testing). Does Boscia test on animals? Only brand that I know of that for sure doesn't test is Tarte and while I like a lot of their products...not all of them work for me and I don't like buying drugstore makeup (though granted it IS cheaper...but only because you can't test the products out in the store before you buy them).
For whatever reason I'm just not able to tell the difference. For those who have tried both which do you find to be the better performer? I've tried UD, Skindinavia, and Ben Nye Final Seal and found Ben Nye to be the best. However, an artist told me it's not meant for everyday use so I'm trying to move on. I picked up the KvD when it finally restocked last month, but I have a short memory and don't know if it's any better than the UD version. Thoughts?
I'm not very familiar with different makeup brands and I'm looking for something with natural or organic ingredients. I'm open to a wide price range. I'm not looking for any specific products, but I'm definitely open to any suggestions! In addition I'm looking for a natural self-tanner. Thank you in advance!! Have a wonderful day!
Hi, I thought it would be interesting to fore-lay your experiences with make-up, starting with adolescence and even childhood. This can also help for parents whose children want to get into make-up and figure out how much is too much or what's good for them before going to the Guerlain/Givenchy/Dior gondolas in Sephora. I'll start. Name: Jenn Age: 22 First make-up product: Bonne Bell Lip Smackers Flip Gloss Age of first Sephora visit: 12 or 13. What's funny was I got mad at my dad for not letting me go to Stoneridge (Pleasanton, CA) because I wanted to go to a Sephora and see what was cool about it. My dad then brought me to ValleyFair (Santa Clara) instead because he knew the area better than Pleasanton. And yes, there was a very big Sephora and I still believe Valley Fair trumps Stoneridge. Your full make-up biography: Started using make-up in 6th grade because of school pictures, which was terrible because I didn't know how to use foundation! I just caked it all on my face! HAHA. Then went to Sephora in 7th grade, didn't buy anything my first time, but when I went with my friends, I think I brought a Cargo eyeshadow in green. Back then I used more drugstore than prestige. 9th grade, I think I started phasing out the drugstore and by college... BYE BYE DRUGSTORE! Then I started using mostly Guerlain by sophomore year, except my make-up bag got stolen by United, which had MOST of my Mac products. BOOO! My advice: Skin is more important, once you wear make-up all the time, it becomes obvious when you don't wear make-up, so I don't use it as much.
I am asian and I have yellow/warm undertone. My skin is light-medium. I love their tinted moisturizer but I feel that I have the wrong shade. I asked for help from the staff at sephora but I was not satisfied... Any advice or help are much appreciated! Thank you.
I'm going to Miami next month. Any suggestions on a foundation for humidity? I'm from California where the weather is much drier. I'm going for a bachelorette party so I'd like to look fabulous 24/7. Other suggestions besides foundations are welcome too. Thanks!
Hi, I wanted to ask recommendations for a couple of different things. I wanted to see what you blush stick you think would be best for me? I have a light olive complexion and I''m looking for the right shade for blush. I've used both pink shades as well as darker shades that are like bronzers. Also ideally I'd like to use products that aren't tested on animals. I'd love any recommendations you have.
Of course there is no right or wrong answer but I thought it would be interesting to see how my fellow BT'ers handle their makeup routine. The MUA at Sephora did my eyes first then applied foundation, concealer, blush and lastly lipstick. The routine. I always followed is to do my face first (foundation, concealer. and powder if necessary) then onto my eyes, cheeks and lastly lips. What is your routine?
I went to the Sephora inside Jcpenny yesterday and SA was so helpful and so sweet. Not only did she remember me she also remembered me saying what problem area's I had and she directed me to some great product's that she thought would help me. Thank You Megan at store #0251
Hello! I am getting married this June & since it's going to be an outdoor wedding I need some recommendation for waterproof makeup! I am a huge makeup junkie and know a lot about various brands and products so I do plan on doing my own makeup. I already have a primers I plan to use but I am looking for a few certain things... First, I never wear waterproof mascaras so I definitely need some recommendations on that! And I am a big cry-er so I only expect to be shedding even more tears on that day! I'm looking for something that lengthens as well as volumizes. Second, I need a new foundation. The ones I have are light coverage and I'm looking for something with medium to full coverage, with a low SPF, and that will photograph well. Third, I have a few setting powders currently, but if anyone has one that they really love or thinks works great I would love to hear about it. I am thinking about getting a new one to go with the new foundation! Fourth, I always have a problem with concealers not lasting on me. I need a concealer that will cover up my dark under eye circles, because that's my biggest issue! I want it to really brighten my face by covering up everything. Fifth, I am a blush JUNKIE. I absolutely love blush and it's my favorite product as far as makeup goes. I really love Benetint by Benefit and plan on using that the day of for long wear but I do also want a blush to go over top to add a little extra oomp! Preferably something with a slight sheen that will last well throughout the day and compliment the rosy tint of Benetint. Lastly, lips. I want something that leaves slight color to my lips and that WILL NOT come off when I kiss the groom! Haha, I want something that isn't too sticky and will just stay put. Okay well if you made it through all that, thank you! I look forward to hearing your recommendations
I am looking for an all-over color, with a slight shimmer to make my face more radiant and glowing. Preferably a powder to top my foundation. I recently ordered Laura Mercier Matte Powder in Highlight 01, but it looks a little pinkish on me; I am very fair (NW15) with very pink undertones. Hence I would like more of a gold tone, like a really light bronzer with shimmer...? Any recommendations, please!
Here are my pics of the Matte Multiples that I got today. Excuse the tattoos, LOL! From L to R: Laos, Exumas, Altai and in case anyone was wondering about it: Na Pali Coast (not Matte but the latest Multiple). This is how they look on a woman of color. They might look differently on you! Nars was right when they said it was highly pigmented. Only Altai didn't need scrubbing on me. I thought I picked up Siam but I was wrong I'll get it on Friday!
First off i want to say i already searched the boards before posting this and the last post was a year old so i decided to make a new one . I've been using urban decay primer potion for years but since they changed the tube it doesn't seem to work as well. It gets all greasy and separates every time i use it i try and mix it but it seems hopeless . I think i should try another brand preferably around the same price an opinions would be great
