Hi beauties! I know a lot of people are interested in knowing about the new Guerlain Meteorites and how they compare to the old formula. In the last two weeks I have acquired the new formula in Clair and Medium, and the old formula in Teint Rose and Teint Beige. I think this gives me a good perspective to compare the two formulas in an unbiased manner since I got them both at the same time without being in love with one or the other first (for the record I am equally in love with all of them!) Let's start off with a picture! going top to bottom, left to right we have Clair (new), Teint Rose (old), Medium (new) and Teint Beige (old). I am not going to spend too much time lamenting the decreased quantity of balls in the new formulas. We all know it's true and it is just a sad fact that we meteorites lovers are going to have to deal with eventually, sigh. The good thing is that, as most agree, these balls last for a LONG time and I believe the same will hold true for the new formula as well. To me, the new formulas are definitely easier to pick up with your brush. Some have said that they have more broken meteorites with the new formula because they are softer but I haven't had any issue with that. And though it is easier to get more powder on your brush, I haven't felt that the softer formula leads to over-doing application at all. The biggest difference I have noticed between the old and new formulas (for both shades) is that the new formula has more shimmer to it. That being said, the actual shimmer particles seem smaller in the new formula which is something I like. Another observation I had was that the new formulas have a bit more color to them than the old. The picture below shows the new formulas across the top and the old across the bottom. As you can see, the new Medium has more pink balls than the Beige does, while the Clair has more light gold balls than Rose (Rose looks to have more of the white/cream balls). I am planning to look at the actual ratio of color balls in each once I have a safe place to dump them all out... my bathroom has been scary lately haha. Over all, as I've said, I love them all and I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the four! My recommendations would be that for those of you interested in a bit more warmth your glow go for the new Medium. If you are fair and want illumination, the new Clair is a good bet. If you are fair and need redness correcting you might prefer the old Teint Rose if you can find it. Teint Beige would be best if you would prefer your meteorites to have slightly , and really it is quite slight, less shimmer with a little more warmth than Rose or Clair. Hopefully this helps everyone who is on the fence about which to purchase, or whether you need to go out and purchase the new formula asap! Long story short: They really do make you feel fabulous and pampered when you're putting them on. They give you a nice special extra something glow. Did you need all four? Probably not... Did I just order this: Yes, yes I did (fingers crossed that it's authentic!)
With your powers combined... I know we can find me a deal or a nice GWP on my first Kjaer Weiss products! It needs to be somewhere that sells the refill pan packs. I want to buy a foundation refill, a blush refill, and the highlighter refill. I don't currently own any cream products because of my sensitivities, but since KW is 'cone-free and more natural, I'm going to give a (big) try! This will be my birthday gift . Since they will live in zPalette on my vanity area, I am just going to invest in the refill pans for now (yay for less packaging and saving money too). So, I'm looking for good deals, coupons, codes, GWP, from places that well Kjaer Weiss - Beautylish, ECODIVA, Net-A-Porter, SpiritBeauty, Beautybar... Kjaerweiss.com... I think I have a $10 Off code for Beautylish. I can't use the new customer codes for BeautyBar because those are once per household, I believe. I'm signed up for emails from all these sites, but nothing good yet/lately... Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello all, I just saw that MJ highliner set is out of stock. Do you think it will be restocked for the VIB sale? If you bought it, how do you like it? Do you think it is worth it? I am not a very eyeliner-y person but I am really into the brand. I also have blue-green eyes. Do you think it would compliment my eye colors? Ahh that was some questioning Thanks all!
I first learned about this from Wayne Goss' FB page so I had to search for it. He said it will be available in Selfridges UK (GBP 180) on Nov 1. Does anyone have more info for US? So far I only found this pic from the Fashion North blog:
I follow Kat Von D on Facebook and yesterday, Monday, 10/20/14, she posted that she was launching a new beauty website in 10 days/on 10/30/14.🙀 See her post on FB for details on what the intent of the site is. I didn't want to post a screen capture of her post for two reasons 1) I am not sure if I'd be infringing on some protected material and 2) there was one bad word at the bottom of her post and I'd have to figure out how to edit that out since BT has rules on language. 😜 I am pretty excited - I love her products and I love her tutorial videos. I am anxiously awaiting the launch! I did visit the site to see what is currently posted and I was able to sign up to receive email communications. The site already looks pretty hot!🔥
Hi Beauties ! i would like to ask you how do you like to learn some new makeup ideas. Do u prefer watching Beauty Gurus on Youtube , reading blogs and magazines or watching some of the MakeUp Brands Tutorials? Just like to know what people prefer in general. kissessss
Recently I was purging my collection when I came across these two items. They're the ones that have made it through all of my purges no matter how ruthless. Why? Because they have sentimental value. The Lancôme Color Design Artist Palette (2007-2008) was the first "high end" palette I ever bought and playing with it is really what got me into high end makeup. I also had a ridiculous amount of fun while wearing this palette and discovered both the purple and the navy smokey eye as my signature night time "go-to" look. The L'Oréal Laetitia Casta "look" combo (2007) is what really got me into thinking about "looks" and how everything goes together. What sentimental makeup items are you guys hanging on to?
Hello Beauties, been saving up for my first Tom Ford product and wanted a little help picking something out. What would you suggest to start off my TF collection? I am super into lipsticks and eyeshadows, so I'd like to try something out from these categories. Any classic "must haves" or fun new items that you're aware of?
Hi, I have pretty bad melasma/hyper-pigmentation on my face. In the past I have used Chanel foundations but now it just looks like I am piling on the foundation which makes me look much older. Lately I have been using Calvin Klein foundation but again, same problem. Can anyone recomend a full coverage foundation that will mask my hyper-pigmentation areas without making me look like I have a pound of make up on?
I posted a previous post about starting a traveling box with samples and deluxe samples and a few ladies were interested in doing one! This is the 1st traveling box I am apart of and of course the 1st that I am starting. So, we need to decide if we are going to do a medium or small flat rate box. RULES No used items. No open items DO NOT take more than you put in. Let's keep this fun and fair DO NOT take multiples of the same sample PLEASE try not to keep the box more than 3 days Make sure to send your address to the person listed above you Once you send the box off, post the tracking number in this thread ALL unused items allowed (well maybe not nail polishes if it will make the shipping costs go up) Post a pic of what you take out, what you put in and what is left in the box before you send it off We are going to have fun and try to keep this going as long as we can! If you are interested in being in the box, I have a few spots left so post a pic of what samples you have in this thread to be added. To start off, we are only going to have 10 people! 1. CuriousCannibal 2. MegEm 3.MLLECC 4. tessie84 5. Kittichick 6. NicoleFrat 7. NightKnight 8. Sweetxteeth 9. Nishcakes 10. Kariyava
Im getting married and need to know what the best foundation, mascara, eyeliner and lipsticks are for a down pour of tears? I don't wear makeup very often. and the stuff I have is about 5-8 years old. Any advice would be great!
I recently bought the kat von d foundation in light No 46, I'm not sure if this is the right shade because when I put it on it looks a little yellow. I'm not sure if I need a darker shade or a lighter shade. My skin is so weird when it comes to foundation, it never seems like I get the right color.
So normally getting a palette with a misspelled label isn't a huge deal. I mean, it does tweak my Virgo need for order, and it does irk when it's from a high-end brand. This misprint of "Deep Night", though, skates a little too close to the racial slur line for comfort. Obviously it's not intentional, but I wonder how many of these slipped through quality control. I'm debating whether to exchange it, or just try adding the letters in myself with liquid paper or something.
So I just used 2 of my Guerlain powders--1 is the Terracotta Light Bronzer and the other is the pressed Meteorites Voyage. Both have that signature violet scent. I've had these powders for almost a year and I've used them on very few occasions and always with clean brushes. When I used them today, I noticed that my brush had a weird sour smell when I ran it across my nose. I thought maybe it was my brush so I tried another brush with the bronzer and still got that sour smell. Then I thought maybe my foundation was causing that smell so I used another brush, swirled it around my face and there was no scent so I'm pretty sure that sour smell is coming from my Guerlain powders. My question is, has anyone else noticed that their Guerlain powders smell sour? Have my powders expired or is that normal? There isn't any suggested expiration date on the packaging, and I don't see parabens in the ingredients...just benzyl alcohol so I'm assuming the lack of many preservatives means that it goes bad quickly...which sucks...they were so expensive and honestly performed mediocrely and now they've possibly gone bad. Update: According to his article, some people just pick up the violet scent as being sour...so I guess it's not bad? Interesting that different people smell things different though. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-238 3238/Love-smell-beer-cheese-Thank-DNA-Scientists-c ...
I have been searching for a good neutral palette for quite some time now and I have been trying to talk myself out of getting one of these palettes, but I have decided to take the plunge and get one of them. However, I am torn between the two of them. I personally think that cooler toned shadows fit my skin tone better (I sort of have yellowish undertones) so after some suggestions I have been leaning towards the naked 2. But there are some colors I really cannot stand in the palette (tease, pistol, foxy), and I know those shadows would go to waste. In the naked1 palette the only color I cannot stand is gunmetal (and maybe toasted would end up being a dislike), but because the colors are so warm I'm afraid I would get it and realize that none of the shadows are good for me, which would lead me to not reaching for it. Lastly, I was looking at swatches of the naked2 palette and this photo really caught my eye. The colors look sooo pigmented and nice, but in some other photos I have seen the colors look completely different and not as nice. Does this photo accurately show the true colors of the naked2 palette? Anyway, I'm basically town between the two and I would love if anyone has some good feedback on this! Thanks!
I need to redo all my makeup as I took the plunge recently and went white in one day. I love it but all the brown shadows make me look like I've been crying for a month. I have fair skin, rosy complexion and brown eyes. Help!
I'll be going as the notorious Harley Quinn I'll be wearing all black leather with a few strategically placed pieces of red, with the tips of my two ponytails sprayed red. Also either some kind of black mask, or black eye makeup. And a dark lip.
I feel like I needed to post a picture because I just opened my box (finally caved and bought the Tarte Amazonian shadow pallet) and I have never been happier with my samples! I got lucky and got the Dior Baume and the REN renewal mask! I felt like I got two extra deluxe samples without using a code for them…you just made my day, Sephora! The Dior sample is packaged so cute, the paper is has quilted texture with a little magnetic closure, like a super nice blotting paper case. I think I might pop some business cards in this one and reuse it! *and apparently all posts automatically go into the Acne category now, even if we change it? Weird.*
I know the Best Bite Remix set is available now. But I was hoping they would put out a larger set - like they did last year. I bought this set last year and love it. Anyone know if they are doing something similar this year?
I opened my Naked 3 palette for the first time in a week and it smells really really bad like urine. It didn't smell at all when I first got it. My other Naked palettes didn't smell at all when I got them. Did anyone else's palette stink really bad?
Today for whatever reason I decided to look up articles on how parents deal with their younger kids wanting to try makeup. While most of the article were fine, trying to address possible worries of parents, the comments I read were awful! Women who were apparently mothers(ones I'm glad mine was never like) were calling 11 year old girls "future hook*rs" because they were wearing makeup. Now I know there are going to be a lot of different opinions on when it's ok for girls to wear makeup, but calling a 13 year old a sl*t just because she started wearing makeup and you don't like her style is unacceptable. Maybe makeup can have a negative impact on a girl's self esteem if she starts wearing it early, but I have a hard time taking the people who say this seriously when they then turn around and insult young girls and say they'll be worthless for the rest of their lives just because they're wearing heavy eye shadow in middleschool. Those people should be far more concerned with the effects of their nasty words than with a lip gloss purchase. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to get out my anger in a place with people that realize makeup isn't the devil.
Have you guys seen these?! There are tons of shades and finishes to choose from, and you can build your own palette! I can't wait to try these; I wonder if Sephora will carry all of the shades? There are so many and I'd really like to go in and test a good chunk of them. http://www.sephora.com/artist-shadow-P387670?skuId =1622745
I just got a pretty big Chanel haul and I'm organizing some of my goodies. I'm wondering what anyone does with those black velvet pouches that you get with Dior, Chanel, etc. Do you keep your products in them? Toss them? Use them for anything? I don't really want to keep my products covered in the vanity. I would if I took it on the go, but right now everything is staying at home. So I put the pouches lining one of my makeup drawers and put the product cases on top.
