Vegas makeup suggestions

I am going to Vegas in two weeks, where I will be indulging in some late night partying and enduring some hot weather. I am all set with my sunscreen and fragrances, now I just need some good makeup product suggestions.

Any specific beauty products I should be taking with me? I'd appreciate the suggestions because I live in SF and the weather is rarely hot so my makeup is not hot weather tested.

I will be going clubbing, all day shopping, walking around the strip, and going to a pool party. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks :smileyhappy:

Hi knadala!

Not sure if you enjoy wearing false eyelashes, but if so, I definitely recommend bringing a few with you. It always amps up a look and can help your transition from day to night! I love the Sephora Collection Celebrity Eyelash. I like using the dark tone Duo Lash glue with the eyelashes because it keeps them in place really well.

I recommend carrying a compact powder foundation with you just in case you start getting shiny and the coverage from your makeup starts breaking down. I love Make Up For Ever's Duo Mat Powder Foundation for this.

I also recommend bringing a waterproof mascara with you! I love the Dior Iconic Waterproof Mascara.

Don't forget blotting papers! I love the Sephora Collection ones. :smileyhappy:upload_7031469148466882271.jpg

I just returned from San Francisco.  The weather is very lovely there.  You got excellent tips already.  It is very hot here, so use a lot of sunscreen and keep reapplying at your pool party.

Laura Mercier foundation primer in Radiance

urban decay eyeshadow primer

& don't forget makeup setting mist!!! My favourite is urban decays "All Nighter"

these things will definitely make everything stay where it should

if you're into playing with eyeshadow I'd suggest just to bring two pallets with you. It's always good to travel light. And a good tip (if you'll be flying) put a few sheets of paper towel between your palettes, it'll be less likely that they'll crumble when flying.

The two palettes I take with me when I travel; Kat Von D's spellbinding eyeshadow book and my Naked2 palette.

The spellbinding book has 24 shadows & the naked has 12. Both offer tons & tons of looks that you can create. So you don't end up bored or not so satisfied with limited options. AND on the plus side the spellbinding palette is super thin! If you can't get a hold of either of those pallets try & find something that's easy to pack & will give you variation Not only in shades but finishes too! Gotta have some glitter when you're out on the town!

I also find it essential to have a sculpting trio. Sephora offers a few different variations of shades for a very decent price.

And lastly, since you'll be partying Eye Hope by philosophy will do wonders for puffiness and any dark circles.

Have fun!

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

- Sunscreen, last time I went to vegas it was HOOOOOOOOOT. Especially if you'll be walking up and down the strip a lot.

- Waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Waterproof will be good to withhold the sun and potential sweat

- A neutrals palette and allows you to create versatile looks. I usually bring my naked 1 or lorac pro since the pigmentation allows me to create a more intense and smokey look

- Glitter! I usually bring a glittery eyeshadow and lipgloss. What a better reason to wear glitter than vegas?

- A foundation that can withhold hot weather and sweat. I love the Estee Lauder Double Wear others have mentioned.

- Blotting sheets, setting powders, and/or setting sprays. All will help with touch ups and holding up your makeup

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

I rarely make it to the strip but agree glitter is big down there.  These are all great suggestions.

Estee Lauder Double Wear, Naked 1 for some smokey eyes (or Too Faced Boudoir eyes), UD setting spray, Sugar Fresh Chapstick, KVD liner, NARS pressed translucent powder,  Too Faced Melter Liquid Lipstick in Melted Coral, Koh Gen Do Cleansing Cloths. Hope you have an amazing time!! P.S givenchy waterproof mascara for your pool party. x

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation or Hourglass Immaculate Foundation will be your best bet in hot weather, trust me, I from Texas and these have been the only two to last from Sephora. MAC prolongwear and Studio Fix fluid also are great, just not from Sephora. Make sure to use a setting spray AND powder.

My last trip to Vegas, I alternated between UD's Naked Skin foundation and Bare Minerals matte. Both lasted all day/night. My only suggestion is that if you're doing a liquid foundation, set it with powder. And I ALWAYS recommend Maybelline Ultra Liner because it's waterproof/sweatproof and it holds up beautifully. The hot weather itself isn't much of a problem because the low humidity. However, once you go into a casino or mall after being outside, the air conditioning will make you sweat a bit (moreso than being outside).

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

I know it isn't really humid here, but I was sweating like crazy when I was out today.  I do not know what the temperature was, but I assume it was 90+.

I'm jealous of the fact that you were sweating... it was in the 50s out east :smileysad:

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

Okay, not to brag, but when the East Coast was having record low temperatures, Vegas was having the warmest winter I can remember since moving here in 1987.  I like cities that have 4 seasons.  There are only 2 here.  Hot and somewhat cool (if I said cold, people on the East Cost would laugh at me).

I sweat like crazy when we go to DisneyWorld.  I will take heat over humidity most days.

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

I would be BEYOND okay with ditching winter and fall around here. In PA we've got cold weather for about 6 months out of the year and then it rains for half of summer and most of spring. :smileysad:

For Vegas...everyone gets to be their "alter ego" or any one/thing they want to be...If your going to be on the strip a lot,it is just one huge party.

I would go with bright colors, such as M.U.F.E  blush in Orchid #9 or Tarte Blush in Natural Beauty ( natural beauty is a long , extended wear red ). I would wear as much glitter as possible - glitter is still the biggest rage in Vegas, the more the better! If your into nails, put on the longest you are most comfortable with and paint them in a heavy glitter gold. For your lipstick ,any color goes and before it dries, use a brush and tap on some glitter in any color as a sort of "top coat".

Go all out for Vegas, look at your options that you like and don't worry, go ahead and be daring, try styles you would not normally have ever dried. With the atmosphere of the clubs, you really won't really be able to smell your perfume,so I would not put a lot of thought into it, but for Casino's  and other places try something youngand fun, like Viva La Juicy by Viva Coture.

Re: Vegas makeup suggestions

If you're looking for a long wear foundation, I recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear or Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation. Both have a full coverage, matte finish, and last ALL DAY. Even in 90+ degree weather, which is perfect for Vegas.

@andyhtrieu: I saw a video that emilynoel83 did on Estee Lauder double wear and that made me super excited to try it, thanks for confirming that it would be good for hot weather! :smileyhappy:

You're welcome! Just warning you here, it might have a white/grey cast in flash photography in the darker colors.

I swear by Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray - so good I use it every day! It'll keep your makeup from budging :smileyhappy:

It comes in a travel size for $14, so you can try it out, plus have a smaller size to take with you
