Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I knew those creams were too good to be true. They feel so emollient; I was concerned they would crease.  Which primer did you use? The only other thing I can think of is maybe using a setting spray on top.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Ok, mine might be going back...

I bought way too much in November and was looking to return at least one thing.  This one just won!  And it's a pricey one!!!  And it's unopened so fits the PM return policy.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Well, I wore the cream eyeshadow today and am unimpressed.  I applied it over eyeshadow primer in the morning with my finger, as I always apply cream shadows, and it started to crease within an hour or so!! I just left it and now it's been about 10 hours since applying it and it looks so gross on my lids 😞 I never have this problem with other high-end cream eyeshadows! What the heck.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I agree with you on cream eyeshadow. Very disappointing quality. Eyeliner is even worst and smudged around in a very short time. Only good thing in these kits are the pigments.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

A halo eye with the copper pigment. I used it with the black from the NARS Give In Take Palette, but I had such a hard time with it blending away into nothing and making a mess all around my eyes.

I highly recommend using the pigment with a glitter primer if you aren't mixing it with the liquid. There's still fallout, but not as much and it lets you pat it on which keeps the texture (which I like) whereas mixing it with the mehron liquid turns it into a smooth liquid metal.  Mixing gives a really nice effect, but just wasn't what I was going for here.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@kso1225 this is gorgeous! i am really so curious about her line the more posts i see about them. i love the look of heavy glitter on the lids, and your eyebrows are just amazing.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@kso1225 Love!  Really pretty.  And I really love your lipstick too.  What is it?

Thanks for the tips on how to use these.  I'm still pondering whether I'll keep mine or not. Still unopened...so this helps...

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@meganlisa Thank you! The pigments do take a bit more effort than your average shadow, which I think is good to know going into a purchase like this. They're really pretty but you do have to plan for some fallout unless you're mixing them. I knew it would be an issue so I did my eye makeup first, then used a wipe under my eyes, then applied foundation. It's not a big deal for me but I know it's not something everyone wants to deal with.

Funny you mention the lipstick - it's actually two. I first put on YSL Rouge Pur Couture Le Nu (a new love for me) but it looked pinker than I wanted with this look.  So I pulled out Bite AB Honeycomb and put it on top, hoping it would become more of a beige nude. It didn't change the color much. Here's Bite AB Honeycomb on the left and YSL RPC Le Nu on the right to give you an idea.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@kso1225 Thanks!  I have a passion for lips shades in this color family.  The whole undertone thing is huge.  I'm always mixing to get it right.

These are both gorgeous.

The tips on using the PM help a lot.  Sometimes I'm in the mood to put in the time, and others I'm not.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@kso1225 This is such a stunning look! The copper pigment compliments your bright blue eyes so well.

I hope you'll share more of your Pat M pigment looks with us. 🙂

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@trishavt Thank you! I'm definitely planning on doing some more looks with them. They're especially festive for the holidays so I'm having fun playing with them.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Very pretty @kso1225! What glitter primer did you use?

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@veronika23 I used Too Faced Glitter Glue Primer since it's all I had on hand. I think it worked really well, but I haven't tried any others to compare (yet).

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Thanks @kso1225  🙂

Came here to see if anyone else is having this issue with their 'cream' pigments from this collection? Mine all come out of the compact if I tilt it at an angle. They are one solid piece. They look rather dried out. Thinking about contacting the company about this...

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Well just to update what happened here, I ended up having to request a partial refund thru paypal. Unfortunately this company was completely unresponsive even though I sent them pics of all 4 cream shadows, which are already starting to dry up and pull away from the edges of the compacts.

So anyway, the company never responded to my paypal complaint either and so Paypal issued a full refund for the kit. I feel badly about how things turned out but I'll never buy directly from them again. Not a good experience 😞

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Michie44yes someone else had the same problem and posted about it last week. Warned us not to turn them because they'd fall out.  @kso1225 was that you?

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Michie44 that's exactly the problem I had! Mine fell onto a clean surface but I would have been mad if it fell onto the floor or something. And I was a little disappointed too.  Mine weren't dried out at all - they have a really lovely soft and silky smooth texture.

Contacting PM is a really good idea. I think they've had good customer service in the past and I think they should know that this is an issue. They're expensive products and shouldn't be cutting corners when it comes to packaging them.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Spoiler

Thanks! I didn't see that post. Good to know mine aren't the only ones. Still, for $165 I'm disappointed. These cream shadows already appear to be drying out. I'm going to contact the company since I didn't buy it thru Sephora.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Michie44it's ok 🙂 It's somewhere in this thread 🙂 You should let us know what the company says.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I played around with my copper pigment and the mehron liquid!
