Mothership VI Eyeshadow Palette - Midnight Sun
Yeah I might do that. I haven't opened the other one yet. Hopefully it is better 🙂
I think Viseart is a spot on comparison.
The price for both is premium, but well worth it for the quality of the actual product in the package.
I have pieces from each Pat McGrath launch starting back around this time last year and while the packaging is basic, they've all held up fine and aren't flimsy (except for the glitter, which is a bit leaky)
@lachaton and @Mochapj are spot on with Viseart. I forgot all about that. When I first got it, I was a little turned off by the packaging; but then I used it and started loving it and now I have all of it. @ChristalM, I wonder if you have a defective package? I have the Flesh kit, and, while the package was sealed, there was a little product on the outside. But I have no issues with the lipsticks themselves.
I just received my Bloodwine kit and these are my thoughts.
1) I wonder if Pat McGrath labs and Lit Cosmetics get their glitters from the same supplier because the glitter in the Bloodwine kit is identical to Lit Cosmetic's "Heartbreaker" glitter. I have Heartbreaker in size 2 which is a slightly smaller cut than the cut in the Bloodwine glitter (although I feel that a size 3 would be perfect in size). Even though my Heartbreaker is just a tiny bit smaller cut, it has the same sparkle and fire as the bloodwine glitter which is larger cut. I bet you I could match the glitter in the other kits to a glitter Lit has (and likely I already own). I wonder if the Flesh glitter is identical to Lit's Modern Love glitter or Oprah glitter. I bet the Venom glitter is identical to Lit's Firecracker. This is just in case you want to buy the glitters but don't want to buy the whole kit.
2) The sifter jars are the same exact cheap jars I order in bulk off of ebay. They don't close all the way so be careful and keep it upright, or else you might have a little glitter seeping out the sides from time to time.
3) Above all, I find that the lipsticks make the kit worthwhile. They are so rich and creamy, yet still retains its semi-matte finish.
4) Is it me or does the gloss smell really good??
@volta I think you are right. I picked Heartbreaker as my 'free' glitter in a recent order and it looks identical.
@volta Thank you so so much for this post! I have been wondering how to dupe these glitters and you have just solved this for me by confirming. I want the flesh glitter and blood glitter so I will look into the mentioned suggestions. Also I know @veronika23 mentioned to look into these for possible dupes as well and so thank you to both! I did notice that the glitter did say made in Canada as mochapj mentioned so here's hoping it is supplied by lit!
and yes the gloss to me smelled like cake? I didn't mind it at all.
@Anewxa if you buy from Lit look on their IG page... usually a coupon or two written in the caption.
Don't forget to type in "Lit Chick" in the Special Instructions area in check out with the color + size of a glitter--absolutely free and you can combine it with one of the 20% coupons they always offer AND if you buy 3 or more glitter you get a promo glitter for free. The promo glitter changes every season. @Anewxa
whoa you gals are awesome - thanks @volta!
So I see the dupe for blood glitter, you think heartbreaker in 3 is better? Also I can't tell which is closest to the flesh glitter from the two you mentioned above 🤔
It really depends if you want it more sparkly or more comfortable. If you want it super sparkly, go with size 3. if you want it to be relatively comfortable on the lips and not wear off as fast, go with size 2. @Anewxa
Oprah (left) has a little bit more copper to it. Modern Love has as little more nude to it. They're both much prettier in real life than in the picture. (Right click--View image to see bigger)
@volta it wouldn't surprise me if it is the same as the Lit glitter.
IIRC @veronika23 mentioned Lit is a Canadian company and i did notice both the glitter and gloss say they are made in Canada, so maybe from the same manufacturer.
It's good to know about the Bloodwine dupe, as that the shade I love the most! 🙂
Yup! Lit is a Canadian company... sells in USD but from Calgary Alberta 🙂
I tried gold pigment again using the brush and technique suggested by a lovely friend and it turned out much better than my initial attempt. Flesh 2 is more of a MLBB kind of nude on me which I love. Flesh2 with the gold pigment on Cupid's bow .
Gorgeous!
So pretty!
SUCH a pretty shade on you- both the lipstick and the pigment! I had zero interest in this whole lip kit stuff until I saw your post and of course everything is sold out. lol 😞
@fatimamummyGosh this looks so soft and beautiful on you 😍.. I am quite jealous coz why didn't flesh 2 look like this on me 🤔 instead it looked more like 💩.. I wanted it to be pink dangit 😭
p.s - what might be this secret technique 🕵
I was about to mention you here @Anewxa because I followed your tip of thin brush and slight touch of gloss to make it work for me.
@TriesToBoClassy So Anewxa told me to use a very thin shadow brush. Dab a drop of gloss at the back of hand. Dip brush tip in pigment and just touch it to gloss. Instead of making a mix of pigment and gloss, it just moistened the pigment a bit and helped it to stick in place. I am leaving the picture of brush I used in the spoiler
Aww thanks, glad my tip worked for you 😊 @fatimamummy! There is definately alot of versatility in this kit and playing around with techniques is quite fun.
