Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I think both look great on you! Thanks for the info 🙂

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

First, I had to stop in and say your skin is looking amazing!

Second, that gold... Perfect.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

The gold is gorgeous on you. You might inspire me to open my gold.

I feel the same about the nude.  It's pretty, I'm just not sure it's flattering as a highlight.   Agreed on the eyeshadow!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Thank you for the review.

i actually could not tell a difference in colors at all until the last photo.

The nude one doesn't look super pink to my eye, but I am on my phone with le tiny photos.

i think they both look nice on you, but the gold is gorgeous 😍 The nude (because it doesn't have much color to me) could almost be mistaken for perspiration glow (but I'm guessing not IRL)

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

The color is more noticeable in person, but it's still only at certain angles that it looks pink so it's not too bold.  Like the gold, it's less stark than when I swatched on my arm.  I don't have anything like the pink pigment in my collection, so I'm still really happy to have it.  I'm sure I'll find a good use for it, I'll just have to work with it (maybe apply less).  I don't have any regrets about getting either.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Thx for the review. Both are very pretty on you indeed. Though up closed, I think I like the gold on you more. Hm I can't decide what to get now. Not sure if the nude even works on me but the swatch you posted though

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I'm playing with it today. We'll see how well it holds against rain and going to the barn but right now I'm just completely distracted by how shiny everything is (also I think this is a nice product in terms of versatility: the balm is subtle, the highlighter doesn't go "BAM SPARKLE" but is a nice glow and the balm/powder duo is distractingly vivid and I can't decide if nude is more pink or purple. TBD.)

Also I feel like the kid whose first car was a ferrari. I'm totally outmatched by this product. I have no idea how I'm supposed to use it so I'm saying f* it and trying a bunch of different things.

(Also, there are sequins but DID ANYONE ELSE HAVE GLITTER TOO? There was glitter in my package omg I am going to find glitter EVERYWHERE for the rest of my life. And I even opened mine inside a ziploc to try to contain everything.)

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

There are smaller glitters in the big one.  Mine went everywhere too!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Ok, maybe I'm crazy but I decided to weigh in.  Don't get me wrong, I really like my nude set.  It's great quality, the shifting shades of the powder are lovely.  And it does wear well.

But I don't love it, honestly.  And I think it's expensive for what it is.  Will someone please explain to me what I'm missing?  Any disagreement is appreciated!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@meganlisa, I really hoped you would like the nude set! I think that golden is going to be too much on my currently pale skin and I'm intrigued by the idea of a purple-ish highlighter... decisions, decisions!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@jadeann I like but don't love the nude set.  I decided to pass the gold on to someone else.

I might be too warm for the nude.  I posted a video and some people love it on me....so it could just be me.

I'm not sure what I advise.  You're skin tone is lighter and probably cooler so it might be gorgeous on you.  Keep me posted!!!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Mine never showed up yesterday so I can't really say what I think of it yet, but how have you used it?

there's nothing wrong with not loving it either, FWIW.

and in the context of how Sabrina explained it below, I don't really think it's expensive either.  Particularly since it's a niche cosmetics brand that so far only makes LE products.  But it could seem expensive for something you don't love.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Mochapj I was wearing the UD sin highlighter when this one arrived and took it off one cheek and applied the PM on the other.  The effect (high sheen, a little cool) is similar except for the duochrome.  And the duochrome can be a little pink at certain angles (I need to be careful with pinks...I have a slightly yellow undertone).

I do like it...I've tried all sorts of different layering combos as mine arrived Thursday.

And I'm asking in part because I haven't decided if I'm going to open my gold...so I want to read as many opinions as possible before I decide.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts once yours arrives!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I agree that is is quite expensive, but I'm looking at the brush, and the dual highlighter thing, and the pigment itself.  Separately, you could find that pigment for $30, that brush for maybe $25-$30, and that duo stick could easily go for $40 (I'm just comparing to what else is out there and what pricing is like).  By thinking of it that way, it really isn't that expensive, HOWEVER, if you don't want all the components, then it is kinda expensive.  I would've been happy just buying both pigments and one brush, I'm not big on cream products.  That being said though, I may buy the golden set and just try to sell the duo stick and the brush.  I get where you're coming from!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@sabrinas Appreciate the validation.  I did the math as best I could, compared to the Dior (Dior keeps adding brushes! and upping the price).  I do like the brush.  And I can basically make the math work..

This set is pretty on.  The balm alone doesn't last too long on me (dry skin) and the cream is pretty but not amazing.  I do like the pigment but I'm not sure I love it on me....personally.  Might be a skin tone thing.

So, a lovely product...for sure.  And I do like it.  But I'm not in love...and for $72....

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@meganlisa You mean the balm basically works like a "moisture balm" and gets absorbed?? Hmm...then I really should skip it. My skin can absorb anything, really...(for being dry). Wouldn't it be nice if they sell everything separately ? 😞

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Anonymous It doesn't absorb immediately but I can maybe (maybe) get it to show 2 hours.  It does make the powder look less glittery and smoother (it's smooth and finely milled anyway but works better with the balm).  I also feel like the powder looks more pink alone, a touch more peach over the balm.

But wearing the balm alone is supposed to be the most subtle option...and on me it does absorb.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Urgh. I really want the balm (I mean, it's the "real" glow!), but maybe I should try some moisture sticks available in the market. I think the balm itself may work with other highlighter you own.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@Anonymous I have a golden set I don't really want....totally unopened...with the glitter in the bag intact  Send me a PM if you're interested.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

FYI for those who haven't received their order. I got my order in during the early access hour and did receive an immediate confirmation but never received any shipping or tracking notices. So since it seemed that many of you have already received your orders I started to get worried. Late last night I sent an email to customer service and received a very pleasant prompt response early this morning which included 2 tracking numbers (I made one order but with one of each color). Mine were shipped out last Wednesday and due to arrive next Tuesday (all within the US). Wow long time right? but happy to know they are on the way 🙂

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@PaletteAddict99 I'm not sure why, but I don't think her website sends out shipment notifications.

This is now the 3rd product I've ordered from them, and I've never received any sort of heads up that it's on the way.

Their CS is amazing, though.
