THE INDIE AND UNKNOWN BRANDS THREAD

Formerly known as: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

A place to discuss new, indie and not so talked about brands. There's a few brands I'd like to know more about but didn't want to start a thread for each so decided to start a thread for all those brands that we don't often hear about.

I really shouldn't (I'm bad about keeping my nails painted), but I love their jellies so much. I'm sure I will wind up ordering a couple.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

That is some seriously gorgeous nail polish porn right there. I'm all sorts of googly-eyed over here.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

@RGbrown  I know right 😄 This is definitely one of my fav brands. Unsure if/what I will pick up from this collection... waiting on Cirque Colors to show their summer collection.  I need to stop the polish hoarding! 😄

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

I don't own any ILNP yet. 😱

I have borrowed a couple from my sister though. They are so so very lovely and it might be time for me to get my own. I'm so torn though...I've got well over 100 polishes, not including the 40+ or so I haven't had a chance to use yet. I have way more polish than nails and time lol.

Speaking of which, time for a polish change 😀

@RGbrown  I'm right there with you... I have too much of everything. So many things so little time 😄  Well if something really caught your eye maybe it's time for you to own one or two ILNP 😉 😄

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

Looxi Beauty - It's live now!  Man even the bigger pan is cheaper than the shipping to Canada... they could just stick a stamp on it 😄

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

Just placed my order (along with a few shadows :))

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

@Magycmyste  Ohhh let us know what you think! I passed because I wasn't sure what else I wanted and wasn't worth it to get just that one item with the shipping cost.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

A few of my personal favorites include Inglot CosmeticsIllamasquaSugarpillGlitter InjectionsJeffree Star CosmeticsMelt Cosmetics, and SUVA Beauty.

Inglot and Illamasqua are more extensive, carrying products everywhere from foundations and primers to lipsticks and eyeshadows.

Sugarpill is a brand that (I would say) is best known for their eyeshadows. They also carry more avant garde eyelashes, as well as regular and liquid lipsticks, loose pigments, and nail polish. I also can't go without mentioning that their packaging and whole aesthetic is so visually pleasing.

Glitter Injections is pretty much self explanatory. They sell different forms of glitter for a reasonable price and are always coming out with new colors.

If there's anyone who doesn't know of Jeffree Star Cosmetics or hasn't tried it out, they should definitely purchase a Velour Liquid Lipstick. They are my absolute favorite lip formula. He also stocks eyeshadow palettes, Lip Ammunition (his regular lipsticks), lip scrubs, and Skin Frosts (highlighters). I know he's also been working on formulating new products, like foundation.

Melt Cosmetics is well known for their extremely pigmented eyeshadows and bold lipsticks. They recently added highlighters to their line and currently have more products in the works.

SUVA Beauty is another brand I love for their bold colors. They sell eyeshadows, as well as Hydra-Liners and Hydra-Cream bases. Hydra-Liners and Hydra-Cream bases are exactly what they sound like, but with a twist. They call them 'hydra' because they are water activated. Before bringing water to it, these formulas are rock solid in their packaging. This concept is so cool and innovative and more people should know about SUVA.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

@katgoulding   The hydra products have been on my list for a while. Especially the neon colors. 😄  I own a few products from some of the other brands. Wish Illamasqua and Inglot were easier to find/purchase. Wish Inglot came back with their AMC iridescent glosses 😄

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

I personally only have the UV hydra liners, and the white one in "Panda". I wish Illamasqua and Inglot were easier to purchase. Not to mention how hard navigating Inglot's website is, as everything is named by numbers. And they never state those numbers on Instagram product posts, so it's confusing.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

@katgouldingand you are happy with what you have. Pigment, application, longevity?  The last time I purchased something from Illamasqua was through Beauty Bay. Still waiting on my order.  Inglot I kind of gave up on. I had messaged their FB team to get info on products and they half answered my question... so I didn't bother with them anymore. I have a few shadows that I love but yeah hard to get.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

I'm definitely happy with my purchases, they were worth the wait. I always just order through the Illamasqua site directly, so it does take a while, but I haven't had any issues. I actually placed an order a couple weeks back on their new highlighter in "Deity" from the May Queen spring collection when they did the presale.... and it got to me in two days. And meanwhile, I was still waiting on a previous package from at least 3 weeks before. Funny how that worked out.

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

@katgoulding  oh cool! I had lots of problems with them and FedEx so I won't buy direct anymore. I bought Deity from Beauty Bay and still waiting. How do you like it?

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

It's gorgeous! It's definitely on the powdery side, so it's one of those highlighters I pick up my setting spray for. I love it 🙂

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

Thanks! Can't wait for mine to arrive 😄

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

That is sooo beautiful!  Beauty Talk has really helped me think about something other than all the sad news on tv today.  Nice to think about something other than sad sad news...  I've never heard of this brand before but I might have to give them a try.   This could definitely work as a shadow, and maybe a lipstick and Highlighter.  🌈

Re: Indie brands and other not so talked about makeup brands

I'm a huge fan of Beauty Bakerie. I love their lip whips for work and travel since the longevity of the color is impressive. I'd be over the moon if Sephora carried this brand.
