Does anyone else do theatrical makeup??  I started doing this in my high school drama class and  fell in love with it.  I would love to hear about your favorite products and techniques!!! Or even things you tried that were total flops!!

Urban Decay's 24/7 waterproof liners come in various colors and stay forever, so they're great for theatrical makeup! They really stand out. I recommend getting the mini sets (lights and darks) because it's a great deal since the full size one is $18 and 5 half-sized ones are $19! You should definitely try it out. I also find that I can get away with using them sort of as a really bold eyeshadow by smudging them.

Tiffany is right on the money with her suggestions! I have done makeup for theater and stage productions and Make Up For Ever is SUCH a great choice of makeup to use. The colors are bold and bright, long lasting and full of pigment. Plus I feel they are a lot more gentle than some other brands of makeup that are used. I'm a huge fan of the line and even like to use it for TV production as well. You definitely can't go wrong with this line!

Yes!! Its just makeup for theatrical productions, like plays, musicals, dance performances, mime....   Or some people use different special effects makeup for halloween or a party or something just for fun.

Hi bearsmom. If you're just starting to do theatrical makeup, I highly recommend checking out Make Up For Ever. The founder and creator of this brand, Danny Sanz, used to do makeup for Cirque de Soleil so most products are not only, waterproof but also sweatproof and long-lasting. Here are a few of my favorites products that would be a great investment for you:

Make Up For Ever 12 Flash Color Case

If you were to purchase one of the products, this would be the one. You're able to mix colors to get any shade you want to create and it works well on eyes, cheeks and lips.  A little goes a long way. When using this on any area of your face, I suggest setting it with a pressed or loose setting powder.

Make Up For Ever Aquarelle

This pigment can be used on the face and/or body. It also feels gentle and lightweight on your skin since this is water based. Adheres to any brush of your choice to get the design you wish to acheive. I love this for full body art or fake tattoos!

 Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette

Depending on your characters, this palette will almost work for every complexion. Mix any of these shades with a moisturizer to get a thinned out foundation. Also, the orange can be used as a pigment for the eyes or as a base to cover dark circles, bruises or scarring.

Thanks Tiffany, I love MUFE for theatrical makeup and have used the camoflage palettes and color case!!!  I also like the HD finishing powder and the face and body foundation.  I am interested in learning more about their products!!!

@bearsmom - How fun.  I also love their HD Microfinish Powder. The finish is flawless and  looks excellent on stage and in photos. If you could get to a store, also check out their new Make Up For Ever Fluo Night Black Light Pigment. When you apply this on your eyes, lips, cheeks, hair, and/or body using a brush or sponge it will glow under any UV light.  Perfect for theatrical makeup!
