Lipsurgence for wedding Suggestions?

So I have 3 colors in Tarte's Lipsurgence Matte formulas, Fiery, Hope, and Lucky.  I'm gonna be doing a neutral eye and not a lot of jewlery but the dress is a statement in itself.  So I'm not sure if I should do a red lip like a classic bride.  Hope is very close in color to my natural lip so it'll look completely natural but I may have to do a slightly darker eye.  Or there's Lucky which is a bright pink that looks pretty but I'm afraid it may wash me out and since it's so light it may not stay.

This is the link if you gals would like to see the dress and draw any inspiration.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hi Sammiebaby,

Wow your dress is gorgeous! I like how they call it the princess Jazmine dress, its very flattering.

I suggest the shade Rose or Charmed. Rose might show up a bit better in pictures because, its a little bit deeper and more red tone. Charmed is a lot brighter than it looks like online. Its a warm cotton candy pink.

I have to Agree with DianaBT

I think having the lips a bit more hydrated with the glossier shades will keep your lips feeling nice for that First KISS! Enchanted is a GREAT shade for a very natural flush.

If you still are struggling to find a color, you might give the Clinique Chubby Sticks a try, there are some other colors in that range that might inspire you? I use them a lot for brides and they are VERY similar to the Tarte Tints!

CONGRATS!

Jeffrey

Hi sammiebaby, So good to hear from you again :smileyhappy: Can we talk about your dress for one second...and how gorgeous it is! As for your product question, have you thought about mixing a touch of "fiery" with "hope"? It will give it a bit more color while keeping the color apporiate to the style of your dress and desired look. Good luck and happy wedding, <3 Julianna

Your dress is gorgeous and romantic!  I'm going to pass along advice a pro gave me once on a special occasion.  She told me that you want people to notice you, not your make-up.  Unless you are clubbing or doing a photo-shoot, you want to pick either the eyes OR the lips to be dramatic and play down the other.  If you do a darker, classic eye - I would pair it with Hope.  Looks like a wonderful color (I own a lot of the Tarte Lipsurgence line, just not that one), that will accentuate your lips without saying "look at me!"

I like the idea of the nude with black liner, Marilyn eye - maybe instead of a bright red, go for something that pops a little on your skin tone (unless of course you are dark skinned - and then Firey would do that !).

I am getting married in October, so I have been playing with ideas too.  Do your makeup how you think you'd like it (maybe one in each style your thinking of), and then take a photo.  Put the photos away for a few days, and then take them out and look at them.  Be honest, and open - and see what you notice first.  Do your eyes stand out, does your skin look pale, do your lips wash out or pop out?  This has helped me narrow down looks.  Good luck and congratulations!

The dress is fabulous. I did like the previous post suggesting a red lip with a simple blackliner, ala Marilyn Monroe. However the dress does lend itself to a soft romantic feel. I do not have the colors you mentioned but I use Stila in Exquisite and think it would give a soft romantic feel. Whatever you decide, I am sure will be beautiful. All the best on your big day!

Is Lucky bright pink when it's on you? I have it and just adds a little tint to my lips. Your dress is gorgeous, btw.

Wow! Your dress is absolutely breathtaking sammiebaby!

The first word that came to mind when I saw it was romantic. It possesses a very soft and airy quality, which is often associated with natural yet glamorous, makeup. Since you are thinking about doing a darker eyeshadow look I'd recommend wearing Hope or Lucky, which will give you a bit of color without taking away from the rest of your look.

Regardless of what you end up choosing you're definitely going to be a beautiful bride :smileyhappy:. Congrats and have a happy wedding day!

Whimsically yours,

That dress is GORGEOUS!!!

A lighter lip color is usually easier to maintain since smudges and fading are not as obvious. However, that dress is so absolutely STUNNING, but more importantly, because of the intricate details, I think a perfect red lip with fiery and a simple liner eye (like the marilyn monroe look) would look striking. If you do nude lips, I feel like it might be like the dress is wearing you instead of you wearing the dress, but the girl in the picture looks gorgeous, too. If you are very light complexion, I think a red lip would work better. If you have some color in your skin, I think the nude lip and smokey eye you want would work better than red lip. But that's my preference, I recommend getting some advice from friends/family, which you prob will/have done.

Whatever you do, Fiery and Hope are prob better than Lucky, and you've got the bull's eye with the dress. Did I mention that dress is absolutely beautiful?
