Best lipstick brand or formula you have ever tried

Over the years I have been swept off my feet by many products in the beauty world. Eyeshadows, brushes, setting powders, blushes, mascaras and on and on and on.

Something is missing in my beauty life and that is that special moment when you are swept away by a lipstick. I haven't had that yet. I have liked lipsticks but I have yet to find something "oh-my-lanta-shut-the-front-door-wow". I purchased an Hourglass femme rouge lipstick because I had seen so much hype about them. They are smooth and long-wearing but the texture is heavy and although I do really like it; I'm not blown away. I purchased an Edward Bess lipstick after buying his lipliner and being floored. The texture is my favorite of the lipsticks I have tried so far but something is still missing in terms of longevity. These aren't the only two lipstick brands I have used just the top picks of what I have tried and things I most suspect might be reccomended to me.

Have you ever been blown away?

I have hesitated and thought about Dior Addict lipstick in the vernis collection and the color is jet set, it's honestly one of the best lipsticks that I have ever come across, this is my first experience with this lipstick and it's my holy grail of lipsticks. It stays on and my lips stay so soft all day. And the color jet set is to die for!

For me I look for a shade that looks nice but can be wiped off easily. I've found Revlon, Mabeline and Loreal have been the best for me.

Hi msmisty,

This is a great topic, really helpful for those looking for opinions and suggestions on great lipsticks!

I too love Lancome lipsticks, in particular the Rouge Absolu formats which are super creamy and moisturizing since they are based off the Absolue moisturizer which is for parched and super dry skin.

I also really am loving the new Dior Addict Extremes (which are not showing up on our site while it's being worked on) but they are moisturizing, creamy and hydrating with gorgeous natural looking colors. My favorite is "Avenue" which was a sort of pink-coral toned shade. If you ladies have a chance, visit your local store and try these colors! SO soft and hydrating plus the color stays on really well :smileyhappy:

I feel bad saying so -- but overall, formula-wise, for me it's Burberry Lip Cover -- honestly, wow. From Sephora, I would say Hourglass Rouge Femme -- the texture is fabulous, and I love the colors! I have Fresco, Whisper and Nocturnal (which actually reminded me to put them back into rotation!).

That has to be Lancome for me. Honestly, it could be part nostalgic because I always remember being really little and seeing my grandmother use them. However, there is just something luxury about them that I prefer them over the other ones I own. The only thing is some of them have the old baby powder smell to them, but not all of them do. They just glide on like silk, don't bleed and there's something extra special about their color selection that I have unique colors that I can't find in other makeup lines.product imageproduct image

For me, it's safe to say that I have gotten more into lipsticks products within the last 6 months.  Before discovering the world of Sephora, I didn't wear lipstick.  I was a lipgloss only girl.  Since my lipstick knowledge is limited, I'll say that I have not found the "oh wow" lipstick, but I have found ones I like pretty well.

For drugstore, I absolutely love the Revlon Lip Butters.  I love how they feel on my lips, and they seem to help them, too.  I have 3 of them now, and I have been using them quite often.

I have NARS cruising, and it has a wonderful texture, too.  It's my go to for a natural lip, especially for my education observations.  I'll eventually pick up other shades.

I received a Clinique lipstick in a GWP, and it's pretty good, too.  I just don't reach for it as often.

Lastly, the Kat Von D lipstick.  For the most part, I love the color payoff and shades.  Her line has the perfect red for me.  However, I've noticed that the minis they sold as a gift set at Christmas are now feeling kind of dry on my lips.  I know some companies make small changes when they create sets in order to sell at a lower price, so I wonder if that's the issue.

To be honest, I have not found a lipstick that I consider the "holy grail" of all lipsticks either.  There are brands with good textures and that do not make me want to remove it immediately.

Reliable formulas -NARS

Usually do not disappoint - YSL

Must be also due to me being a water fiend that most do not have a chance of survival for more than a few hours.  Only one that has shockingly held up is not even a lipstick.  ;s  (YSL Rouge Pur Couture; stain/gloss hybrid)

Well, I can tell you YSL lipstick is on my wishlist, and I have tried Clinique and liked them.

My wow lip moment was actually when I ordered the Korres Lip butter in Mango. I was looking for pink with warm undertone, but Mango was full on orange/tangerine (ha, color of the yr, guess I was ahead). I know people say cool undertone lip colors will make your teeth look whiter, and I never worn orange on my face but I decided to try it on anyways. Oh wow! I was surprised. It made my lips look moist but not shiny. It was moisturizing enough I don't have to layer with lipstick. And most important of all, the subtle shine and the sheer tangerine color made my lips look naturally pouty and warmed up my face (but not as obviously made up as fuscia or red or berry). I'm a convert now. Now when I need something extra, I reach for sheer coral, which makes my lip look naturally gorgeous. And I fully intent to buy Sugar Fresh lip treatment in coral.

Coral lip colors and blushes look really good on me so I was intrigued about the pantone collection, orange is one of those colors that just makes me feel cheerful. I was actually planning on purchasing the Coral fresh sugar lip tint but ended up opting for the 4 piece pantone lip gloss set instead. I have tried some of the clinique lipsticks and have liked them too as they are nice. Maybe I need to have an "oh wow" color moment or something and then I will feel more satisfied. I have never tried anything in the korres line and I don't have a good reason why either other than just being distracted or forgetful. I am going to see how I like the glosses but I am interested in the pantone cream lipstick.
