Bad Lip Texture?
I've recently noticed that EVERY lipstick I apply (cheap, expensive, old, new, nude, medium, and bright) seeps into the "cracks" (aka lines) on my bottom lip, resulting in a strange zebra-like look. It normally takes only about 2 minutes for my precise application to collect into those cracks. I exfoiliate and moisturize before applying lipstick, and I've tried applying the moisturizer both right before and five minutes before applying lipstick. Nevertheless, the lipstick's pigments still manage to collect in the lines on my bottom lip. Even without exfoiliating and moisturizer, the results were exactly the same. I thought that maybe a lip pencil would help, so I recently went to a MAC counter and tried it. The lady put lip liner on my ENTIRE lip before the lipstick, and the lipstick "bled" even faster, probably within ten seconds. The lady admitted that it might just be happening because of the texture of my lips. What do you think it is? Does anyone have this problem too and/or can direct me to some products that would help or entirely eradicate this issue? (and BTW, I'm a teenager, so my lips are young and don't have any issues with fine lines or wrinkles. Also, if this is by any means helpful, my lips are naturally cherry red.)
Julie and Melissa have given you amazing product recommendations! I've experienced this happening before, I've noticed that lines are especially noticeable when a lip color is on the lighter side (like bubble gum pink). Lipsticks with buttery hydrating textures are wonderful options, as I find that they don't seep into lines that badly. Another option that you may want to give lipstains a try, as they typically dry onto the lips really quickly and are long lasting. Lipstains can be worn on their own or underneath lipgloss.
