Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@sabrinas I did an even exchange in-store and let them know that I didn't want to lose my points, so they called CS and got the points added back.

Re: Ulta GWPs

I agree with RG, if you do the exchange in store with your account information, I think you will definitely lose the points. I would try to exchange in person without a receipt or anything and see what happens. If you can only do it onlline, I would have an extensive conversation with CS and get the name of the person you talk to if they agree that you won't lose your points and ask them to email you a confirmation of that. That way you have some leverage if something goes wrong in the transaction.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@sabrinas

I was hoping I could help, but I looked through the few exchanges I've done and all of mine were items I bought without a multiplier, so the final tally was net 0 points.

I would kinda assume you'd lose out too, but I also know that the few times I've contacted ulta cs, they have knocked it out of the park with excellent resolutions. If you are able to return and rebuy, and if you do wind up losing points, I'd definitely contact them to see if they can fix it up for you.

Another option may be to see if the store is willing to do the exchange without pulling up your account. That happened to me once because the girl behind the register really had no idea what she was doing...at one point she told me I owed her money on an even exchange, sigh. I was all sorts of worried she had messed my account up, but when I checked later, the transaction never showed up, so all was well from a points standpoint.

Re: Ulta GWPs

So, I gave in and placed an order. I'm hoping I'll get $15 back through coupon cabin, but they're so finicky when coupon codes are used. I also held off on using points and some gift cards that I have because I have 3x on all purchases and 5x on ABH. I was getting the Prada Cologne anyway eventually and I really love Moonchild so the 5x on ABH Aurora really pushed me over. I also have 5x on Jack Black, which my BF loves, but he's pretty stocked up right now.

I'm sad that they changed the way the freebies and sales count (or rather, don't count) towards the total spend, but it was nice white it lasted.

Let's just hope that this package doesn't get misdelivered and presumably stolen by whatever jerk received it instead. It's been a month and a half long nightmare.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@KMart919  Great job stacking!

Re: Ulta GWPs

I was gonna wait and see if the bag lasted until another beauty break but didn't this time.  Sorry to have missed the men's bag but got all the other freebies- Much thanks to everyone here for posting!  Mostly replaced things used daily.  Cashed in points- spent $6

I did okay. Just missed the men's gwp due to checkout issues but I'm working on looking at the positives in life. Wanted to also cash in points during a 20% off but I had a birthday coupon that was gonna expire so yolo. Hoping the $10 from retailmenot goes through too. It's iffy due to points cash in. *fingers crossed*

Re: Ulta GWPs

I needed a few things anyways so I bought some nars concealer and tinted moisturizer and an ABH blush trio and brow gel!  No pricing deal but whatever lol.  Got the free benefit concealer, esquire stuff and the bag. Oh and 920 points 😉 and $10 cash back from retail me not!

Re: Ulta GWPs

Getting so frustrated today. I've been trying to make a purchase on Ulta all afternoon and no matter what I do it says the purchase cannot go through because of my my payment method. I'm using paypal, it's the same method I always use. I've called my bank and everything is fine on their end. I called Ulta and they basically told me that they don't have any idea what's wrong and that they'll get back to me in 5-7 business days. But of course that will be after all the point multipliers are over and I'm sure most of the gwps will be over by then too. I know that some ladies have had similar problems in the past. If this has happened to you, was Ulta ever able to resolve it?

Re: Ulta GWPs

@amyd1259 Honestly the customer service via e-mail, phone, fb, twitter can do nothing for these processing errors. Ulta really needs to up their processing system. The third party vendor they are using is horrible. You also might want to consider changing your e-mail address because I had the same problem last year that you are having and after finally getting in contact with someone at corporate they told me its linked to email.

I'm frustrated because my order went through but I got a cancellation e-mail. After I inquired as to what is the reason this is all I got from them

"We're so sorry. Per the terms and conditions of order acceptance you will not be able to place an order on Ulta online. Please visit us in-store for a better shopping experience."

I have spent $1,200 online alone and they don't want my business? I wrote in letters to Ulta Corporate and hope that will fix it.

Re: Ulta GWPs

They told me it's linked to my ip address but at this point, I think they are just making stuff up so that they don't have to deal with me.

They basically just don't want m business apparently.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@amyd1259 wow that's annoying! Who told you that? Someone from corporate?

Re: Ulta GWPs

After emailing back and forth for a bit , someone called me from Ulta customer service.

I don't think any of them have any idea what they're talking about, so instead they just make stuff up.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@amyd1259 I think that's so true. The Ulta customer service doesn't have much information to run on. Did you try emailing the CFO like the below user said?

Re: Ulta GWPs

Yah, I've emailed twice but no response so far. So frustrated. 😞

Re: Ulta GWPs

@wwTraveler I don't think it is e-mail related. When this happened to me I tried using an alternate e-mail and I even signed my hubby up: so using different cards as well. I think it may somehow be tied in to the address. =(

Re: Ulta GWPs

ULTA has BANNED you from shopping, that's why you can't buy anything.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago. They kept giving me the run around. Blamed it on my debit card, then my phone number, then how I spelled my name. They said it was probably because I was buying internationally (what? I live in NH). To prove a point, I bought something with the same debit card online but checked out as GUEST and it worked.

But the lies kept on coming....

.....it wasn't until I e-mailed their CFO directly that it got fixed. It took less than a day for me to get back the ability to shop online.

His e-mail is SSettersten at ulta.com

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ArmyChick84 thanks for providing his e-mail. I'm going to do that next!

Re: Ulta GWPs

Thank you so much for their email! I really appreciate it.

I'm sending an email right now and hopefully this will get resolved soon.

I can't believe they just do this to people at random, for no reason. Ugh.
