Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

@RGbrown @CaityLaine I stopped in today to try to figure out the coupon situation, but I couldn't use it, unfortunately 😞
That sucks, I'm so sorry!
I might have blown my top over that last bit though. "Put your stuff back so I don't have to be bothered"? Nope nope nope! Whether I had intended to or not (and if I was planning on circling back with more stuff like you were, putting the first items back would be something I would do anyways) is beside the point...that type of comment completely uncalled for.
@RGbrown Thank you for your help, I just wanted to follow up for you & anyone else who is having issues with these darn coupons!
Ok so it's not just me! After I posted that, I thought, "Well maybe I am overreacting." But you also feel the same way, so I feel better. I've never worked retail & I try to put myself in their shoes, but I just wouldn't say that to a customer.
And I'm not someone who gets embarrassed often, but I can see how that would be mortifying for someone who does, with people watching & waiting behind them in line 😞
I have worked retail before; if I had been behind the counter, I would have cheerfully taken whatever you brought up and put it with whatever other stuff we had to go back out on the floor. If you had reached for it, I would have said "oh you don't have to, we'll get it back out"; if you insisted, I'd let you, but I'd never in a million years ask a customer to do that. Of course, if it had been me behind the counter, I would have given you the $5 off in the first place because the coupon is clearly valid, but I guess that's a whole different can of worms lol.
what a bummer. I hate the way that CS can vary from SA, store, or even online / over the phone reps.
my very first experience with those type of coupons I tried over and over to use online with tons of different Ulta beauty collection items. Nothing would work / kept saying expired. I then took coupon in to the store and explained that I couldn't get it to work online / didn't know what I was doing wrong to the checkout associate. She looked at coupon / my items and it kept saying expired for her too although the expiration date on the front was clearly in date. She put it in for me anyways (no manager called / she wasn't a manager) and she did it before I even asked if she could. I've had a few of those coupons since then and they've all been able to do it for me even though they say expired. I'm just so bummed for you. 😞
sorry to ramble
I would maybe call CS or if you have another (better) Ulta nearby try it there. I know that's an extra frustration though. There are two Ultas close to me and the vast difference in CS between them always makes me go to the better one.
oh, and I know they still are giving those coupons out because my co worker just received one last week. No word on whether hers works or not.
@CaityLaine No don't apologize, thank you for the advice! I have two other locations near me that I can try that I've never been to before, so if I can't use them there, I'll have to call CS. There are a bunch of other locations around, but it's just not worth it at that point to drive out of my way for a coupon that may not work.
Ahh ok, if they're still giving them out, we can't be the only ones having issues. I guess other people either got lucky or gave up lol.
@ohheyitscindyk what's the error message? I haven't had trouble using them, but sometimes I do have issues trying to figure out the letters/numbers before I can get it to take. O vs 0 and I vs 1 can be a pain due to the font they use printing them.
I have a few myself, but have company coming shortly. If you can't get yours working, I'll test mine later and see if I have any good ones I can share 🙂
@RGbrown It's odd, the error code says, "The coupon code entered has expired".
Aww thank you, that's very sweet of you 🙂 I was thinking I would try going in store this weekend, maybe it'll work if they scan it?
Oh, expired? That's odd. I'll go through mine tonight and see if I come up with any.
And in store is definitely worth a shot...even if it comes up expired there, hopefully they'd be willing to manually give you the discount since they aren't really expired.
@RGbrown Thank you for your help! I am going to try to go on Saturday & I will report back, I hope they would do that if they don't scan 🙂
@ohheyitscindyk I tried all of mine, and yup, they are "expired" too. What a major screwup on Ulta's part...the printed exp date is next Feb! 🙁
@RGbrown Mine also have an expiration date of next February! Maybe the entire batch was messed up?
Sure sounds like it. They've been sending these same q's out in the bags for several months now. The previous batch (printed on orange paper instead of grey, and they were 5off10 instead of 5off15) expired a few days ago on the 1st...I'm wondering if maybe they had both sets tied together somehow and everything expired 6/1? In any case, it's a huge bummer...those were nice coupons to use every now and again 😞
@RGbrown That would make sense 😞 My nearest Ulta is only 20 minutes away, but of course I'd rather shop online *sigh*
I'll be nearby, so I'll stop in on Saturday & see if they work in store!
@ohheyitscindyk I would much rather shop online too...I typically only go in store when I hear there's a 50% off clearance event or if I'm hunting some sort of in-store only item or deal. I've been in ulta maybe 5 or 6 times in the last year, and I have 3 that are 10-20 minutes away.
I think I've been in a sephora once in my life, and it was many many years ago...maybe 2010 or so. 😱
@RGbrown Oh wow, you've only been in a Sephora once! Most of the time when I go in store is for returns.
@ohheyitscindyk I try very very hard not to return anything; I hate doing that for some reason. But I do have a couple of things I'll be taking back to sephora soon...impulse buys that I changed my mind on before they even arrived lol.
@RGbrown I'm actually the same way.. For me, I don't know, I feel "bad" about returning something. It has to be either damaged or I hate it for me to return it.
Squee! Free shipping code, no minimum!

Cross posting to deals thread too 🙂
@RGbrown thank you so much for for posting. Finally got a few things that weren't available in stores 🙂
Great find! I'm getting a $4 Fiona Stiles lipliner that isn't at any of the stores around here.
