Re: Post your recent hauls!

@kimmi1115 - I really hope you're not allergic to gluten, although sometimes that forces people to have a healthier diet. I'd rather try to eat healthier without a gluten allergy though. Did the allergy testing make you sleepy? Not trying to pry, but I hope you haven't been very sick and if you have been I hope they find out what it is and how to treat it very quickly. Or hopefully you'll just get better on your own.

You know, described me 'down to a T'  with the 'decision, decisions" comment. I am the absolute worst at making decisions, the worst. I'm trying to stick to a budget (kind of) and have to limit my shopping but there are so many amazing things here! I don't paint my nails often these days but there are so many nail products I want, from the Nails Inc Magnetic Fishnet to the Ciate Caviar Nails and so many more. I drive myself nuts. The 15 day celebration doesn't help any, I'm not really sure if I WANT there to be tons of great products that I really want/need, or if I want all of the products to be things I'm not interested in. I won't even mention all the things on my Shopping List or the ones running around in my brain. Oh, poor me, life is so difficult.

Hey, why not do both marble & ombre! one hand ombre and the other hand marbled? Maybe not. Alternating fingers? Hmm.......think that might be a bit much. Suppose you could use one technique on Memorial Day and the other on the 4th of July! Cant wait to see the results and I hope you're feeling okay. :smileyhappy:

@kssweetheart  Thank you for the well wishes!  :smileyhappy:  Although it's for an allergy, the test is a scope test by the GI.  They put me to sleep with propofol, and I don't remember falling asleep or seeing the doctor in recovery afterwards lol.  I won't know the results until next week since the tissue they took was shipped to Memphis.  It's a problem I've had for a while now.  Certain foods give me horrible stomach pains.  Last fall, I went to the ER because of it.  My mom was worried it was my pancreas or appendix.  Both were ruled out.  However, I feel much better when I don't eat gluten (especially if it's pasta).

Sephora can be an overwhelming place to shop lol.  Although I don't need any replacements of anything, I always like to go look and test lol.  Sometimes testing leads to a wishlist, too lol.  After getting the Buxom 500 point perk, I am in love with their lip gloss and lip sticks!  But, I want to work on putting a good dent in some of my other lip products.  What really hurts is how some companies come out with numerous collections that aren't spaced too far apart.  Nail polish companies love to do this lol.

Re: Post your recent hauls!

@kimmi1115 - Oh, duh! I should have realized what you meant when you said Scope test, I was connecting it with the allergy testing in my brain. I say I should've realized since I've had many scopes, can I ask if it was upper of lower? The one good thing is you do have that great sleepy feeling as you're coming out of it. I hate when sometimes they force you to really wake up and get out of there, sometimes they let you hang out a while and enjoy that good-sleepy feeling. Hey! I just went through a dang Scope, let me atleast enjoy this!! They have to put me completely out, like they do for real surgery, not just with IV Sedation, long story. I know, it's funny when you're waking up and they're talking to you, and telling you what they saw or didn't see, I never remember. They might as well be talking to the wall. Sometimes they'll wait and tell whoever's waiting for/with me, but it always surprises me when they tell me and actually think I'm going to remember, Really????? Are you talkin' to me???? Since you said they took tissue samples to biopsy I'm guessing it's lower scope, Endoscopy of Colonoscopy? Feel a little weird asking for such personal details, guess it's what we do sometimes. I'm glad you have no memory of it at all, that's good news. I'm glad it wasn't your pancreas or appendix, although the appy wouldn't have been quite as bad, it might have meant surgery but then it would be out and the problems would be over. Easy for me to say...."it just might've meant surgery...." Easy for me to say, it's not my appendix and I wouldn't be the one having surgery!! I just meant that then it hopefully wouldn't be an ongoing illness. I hope you get results quickly and that they're good results, I'll say a prayer for you. Would you let me know the outcome if you don't mind? If the details are too personal to post here you can always PM me. Hope it all turns out alright. Glad you got that nice little nap after. One time I slept that day and night and then the entire next day and night, don't know what he gave me that time, but I kinda liked it!!

I know what you mean, I just ordered Philosophy Cleanser which I did really need. Trying to find something else I need to use as an excuse to purchase. Are you like me, wanting to get $50+ to get free shipping or do you do under 50 and pay shipping. I hate paying the dang shipping cost, was hoping they'd make a change, maybe lower it to free ship $25.00+, who know's maybe they will in the future. The Buxoms are nice, although I havent tried the lip sticks, which is surprising since I have so much BE. I have tons of lip products and continue to tell myself I have to try to use up or atleast put a dent in what I already have. I couldn't use them all up in 5 years!! (I just checked yesterday and I've been carrying a small bag and there were 12 lip products in it!! it's insane) There are always so many lip products that I want to try and I find it terribly difficult to stay away from new ones. I can't even guess how many "lips" I actually have, well over 100 and there are quite a few that are even unopened, usually the ones that came in a kit with other items (I've done a lot of QVC TSV's on Auto Delivery and I have tons of things, tons!!) I agree, it seems like they come out with so many things all at one time, I don't really know why they do that, I'm sure it's been studied and analyzed and there are reasons they do that but personally, I would much rather they spaced it out too. Nail polish is a great example, there are so many brands coming out with so many products, it's making me crazy, I don't know what to get and what to wait on, especially difficult if there are a number of Limited Editions, you don't want to miss out but you also don't want to buy 15 polishes all at once just because you''re in fear of it selling out. That really aggravates me.

Sorry this was so long, hope there aren't too many typos etc,  I didn't proof it or anything. Hope you're feeling well, take care. Have fun this weekend. :smileyhappy:

Re: Post your recent hauls!

Kimmi, i'm glad the test went well, and I hope the test results have some answers for you! i do have stomach aches frequently but i can't IMAGINE what you must have gone through all this time! I remember how terrible it sounded last fall!

ANYWAYS! i love the MUFE lab shine lip glosses, except that i have no need for shiny, sparkly lip glosses that i never wear anywhere. LOL. There are some gorgeous colors (I forget the numbers) in that line! ALSO, that is super nice of your mom. My mom would never ever buy me makeup. I think the last time she bought me makeup on purpose was at a lancome counter and i must've been 16 (or maybe older? bc i remember friends getting nice makeup every school year...) and begged a LOT. Lol. but that was kind of awesome, i still remember how much i loved the star bronzer brush and blush in miel glace.

oh today i went to sephora (i'm in CALIFORNIA! For work) and got the birthday gift and ole henriksen african red tea balm with some store credit. not like i need more balm, but i just love that scent and i've been really into ole henriksen lately. I really wanted to buy the new laura mercier bronzing kit but i'll have to wait for my birthday or an expense reimbursement for that.

@jxw200  So far, I am loving the lab shine gloss!  It doesn't feel sticky whatsoever!  The applicator was more of a brush instead of the traditional doe foot, so I had to be careful with it.  During my high school years, high end makeup wasn't really popular, and neither was talking about makeup.  I don't know if it's cause I went to a small school or what.  That's awesome you're in Cali for work!  I hope you get more time to have fun and enjoy time there.  The Sephora birthday gift for this year looks like a really nice one.  Happy Early Birthday!!!!

@kssweetheart  It was an endoscopy, but what's weird is that they have to send the tissue all the over to the other side of the state to be tested and whatnot.  I'm in the eastern part of TN, and it's being shipped to Memphis.  I kept thinking, "Couldn't they send it to Knoxville?  I hear the hospital at the University  of TN is quite nice and full of technology."  I hate being woke up from the sleepy feeling, too lol.  I had 4 wisdom teeth cut out a couple of summers ago.  The oral surgeon placed the "gas mask" on me first for a bit (so I was already calm, cool, and collected lol), and then I was put to sleep.  I remember a nurse tapping me on the leg while calling out.  I kept thinking "please be quiet!" lol.  However, I don't remember getting into the car afterwards, but I somehow made it home.  They could have tossed me into the trunk for all I cared at that moment lol.

I don't order online unless I buy enough for free shipping lol.  I hate paying taxes and shipping; I prefer one or the other, which is why I love eBay lol.  $50 is the lowest price point I've seen so far for free shipping.  It's a minimum order of $75 at the moment for free shipping on Vera Bradley's website, but I was thinking it used to be more than that.  I also wish Sephora accepted PayPal for payments (unless they've started that recently.  Haven't ordered online since Fall).

Re: Post your recent hauls!

@kimmi1115, you cracked me up, loved your  'they could've thrown you in the trunk....' comment, that was funny!!! Why can't they just leave us alone a little longer, they know how awful we're going to feel once the meds wear off, cut us some dang slack and let us enjoy this feeling that we're PAYING FOR!! It's different if they need the room, if not, leave me the heck alone!! It's like being in the hospital and you have the nurse come in at 2 am saying, "Wake up, wake up.....it's time for your sleeping pill" I was already asleep, are you on drugs??? I did have one dentist who let you just chill and enjoy that sleepy-chilled feeling, he's over an hour away though, his office is close to where we used to live.

Wisdom teeth always makes me think of  the "Wisdom Tooth Girl" video that was shown on Ellen, there are numerous ones on youtube, but that's the best. It also reminds me of one of the biggest embarrassing moments of my life. I was getting my wisdom removed (all 4, like you) by my oral surgeon who looked a bit like Albert Einstein, he was a great guy and I was super comfortable with him. The night before the appointment I was out and got home around 10:30p to find a message that my Dr wasn't going to be able to do it, that I'd be seeing another new Dr. - the worst part....he didn't have the malpractice insurance that would cover putting me completely out, he could just give me IV that puts you in a sort of La-La Land. I was a nervous wreck to begin with, now this?? Well I called my Dr, yes, I called him at nearly 11p - cause I was Furious. He said don't worry blah, blah, blah come in and meet him and if you don't like him we'll reschedule. The only problem was that the next weekend was Thanksgiving and we were leaving for Syracuse bright & early the next AM to go to a wedding, which meant I'd have to wait until after that and I was in pain, so that wasn't gonna work...so I went.......

kimmi, the new Dr was one of the most delicious men I've ever seen in my entire life!!! Seriously, he was freakin HOT!!! I was in lust and probably would've let him cut off a limb if he wanted to!! Especially after the sedation kicked in, they were having a lot of trouble and I could hear what they were saying and hear the tension in their voices...and I didn't even care!!

The embarrassing part..... when the IV started to kick in (or Truth Serum as I  prefer to call it) I looked up at him and said exactly this - "Dr Greenberg, you have the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever seen!!" Yes I did!! Can you believe that? I could even picture the little hearts coming out of my eyes like they do in cartoons. I didn't even care....until later.

Flash forward about 8 years, my brother had to go to him and my brother said that I'd been a patient of his. My brother didn't even say anything to jog his memory, he said "Oh Yeah, I remember your sister..." don't remember what else he said just that he remembered me and the 'incident' I saw him quite a while after that in a parking lot and we both kind of looked at each other, you know that look when you know there's something familiar but you don't know what. We got into our cars and at the same time looked at each other and smiled and sort of nodded like "oh yeah, i remember now" Really embarrassing, but it's a great story...and it's much longer when it's typed out. Too bad he was married :smileysad: Oh well. Hope that gave you a little laugh.

I really hate to pay shipping, hoping Sephora will lower there 50+ free shipping. Beauty.com is free s/h 25+, I really like sephora better though. Beauty.com and drugstore.com used to have Amazing GWP's, reallly fantastic, high value GWP's, not so much anymore though. You're strong not shopping from Sephora since the fall....That's amazing! Especially with all of the holiday promos and whatever VIB promos may have come up. Willpower baby, they don't sell that anywhere that I know of. I didn't notice that they don't take paypal, is there a reason you like paypal better than other payment options? You don't have to answer that if you thinks it's too financially personal, just curious, might have another idea for you depending on your reasons.

When you mentioned that the biopsies had to be sent so far away I was surprised too, maybe there's just a lab there that specializes in whatever the dr's are looking for. Seemed unusual, I've had a lot of 'scope'  biopsies and they were all done 'in-house'  Interesting, you could always ask your doctor just out of curiosity if the conversation goes that way, sometimes it doesn't feel right bringing it up though. I do hope the results are good. Let me know how it turns out, okay? If it's not something your comfortable discussing publicly you can always send me a PM. Whatever works for you.

I know you have plans for the weekend, anything exciting? Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'll be home with my Greyhound who is scared to death of thunder & lightning and fire works, and you know there will be fireworks, maybe thunder too. And I'm all out of her anti-anxiety medicine!! It may be a Looooong weekend. I'm pretty confident that your weekend will be more fun than mine, enjoy it. :smileyhappy:  Sorry so long :smileysad: :smileysad: Hope not a ton of typos, didn't proof it. :smileysad:

Anyhow, I hope that you, and anyone else who's brave enough to get through all of this have a great weekend and safe travels. :smileyhappy:

Re: Post your recent hauls!

Another small haul from yesterday before going to the doctor.  Right as I was about to pay for my items, my mom beat me to it since she was "putting me through torture." lol  Here's what I picked up from Sephora:

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye liner in Underground  (pretty close dupe to the Sephora Nano liner in Iced Brown.  mine broke in half when I sharpened it.)

Make Up For Ever Lab Shine lip gloss in M12.   It looks like a nice summer red.

@ bijouxkristyna - Wowser!! Good for you!! If you dont mind will you let me know how you like the PTR Unwrinkle kit? Been thinking about trying it and would love to know what you think about it. Have some serious "11's" forming and need help. I'd also like to know how you like the MUFE Aqua Lip and Aqua Eye and Especially the Sexy Mother Pucker XL, have had that on my list for a while. Does the SMP XL or the MUFE Lip have a scent/flavor? I'd love any feedback you can give me, you can send me a PM if you like, or try it this way, sometimes I lose track of threads though, so if you're ok with it, PM me. Thanks a bunch. Once again, good for you and Happy Mothers Day, you deserve all of the goodies you got!!

Re: Post your recent hauls!

diana- I've tried the Bite lipstick on twice so far and I really LOVE it. I'll update my comment if anything changes (if the color isnt long lasting or it dries out my lips etc..) but its a super creamy formula and I really love the color that I got(VOUVRAY). Its a ballet pink and its the perfect goes with everything color. I havent been to Sephora in forever but my location now carries the Bite line, and the Origins line so yay!

kssweatheart-- I grew up watching the newer version of Pooh, but Ive always loved the classic Pooh for some reason. I hold the Smurfs very close to my heart because that was one of my favorite cartoons when I was little. I actually still have my stuffed Smurf with me now, its old and it has a rip in it, and Ive given away all of my toys and stuff a long time ago but this is one of the items that I kept. I'm keeping it, and who knows maybe some day when I have children they might like having one my favorite toys. I dont have a cord to my digital camera, but I have a good camera on my cell phone and if I can post a picture of it through my cell, I will.

Re: Post your recent hauls!

@sephoramusthave - aww... I'd love it if you posted that, I'll keep my eyes open for it. I have to say, I also loved the Smurfs, I collected the little guys and still have some packed away somewhere. I went as Smurfette to a Halloween party and won best costume! Guess the little semi-short smurfette skirt didn't hurt! (it was totally appropriate, I wouldn't want to sully Smurfette's good name and my mother would Never have let me leave the house in anything at all inappropriate.) The movie was smurfy-cute BTW.

I still have some stuffed animals packed away from when I was younger. Bad news, my favorite Easter Bunny that my grandmother named Dorothy got these weird little wormy things. Seriously! Please don't ask me how. He was up in the attic with other things for ages and he was the only thing that got them. I suppose I could have tried to amputate his leg, but it was too gross. She was my fave.I'm so embarrassed to say that, makes people wonder how we were living. I swear our home and attic were always clean. Poor Dorothy was just sitting on her rocking chair, minding her own business, she deserved better!!

Some people say pack them in mothballs, but you never get that smell out. I would hate for anything to happen to your smurf. Although, if he's in your room or something than maybe the biggest worry is dust.

Have you ever heard the song by Kenny Loggins "Return to Pooh Corner"? (It's from a great CD of kid-ish songs that grown-ups can love. It's really made for grown-ups but has beautiful Lullabye-ish songs for the little ones) If you haven't heard it you might want to give it a listen, it's actually one of my fave songs and even just singing it badly in my own head makes me smile. Let me know if you find it - like it.

Then there's the Beanie Babies. Big, small and McDonald size. Don't even take me there. A friend got me started, I think you always have to bring someone else down with you, maybe to ease your guilt. We were like addicts, it was insane! I'll leave it at that.......except for one last lie.....errr....um....I mean Line, "But They're Such A Good Investment! They'll Really Be Worth $$ Down The Road" Did anyone else fall for this? That's a bunch of Bull-Smurf!!!

Re: Post your recent hauls!

Today I stopped by a store to pick up a gift card for my friend who just had a baby. I thought she might like a pick me up to treat herself!

I also picked up some Bumble & bumble grooming cream which will hopefully tame these crazy flyaways I'm having from the warm weather!

This is getting bad.

Re: Post your recent hauls!

Although I swore I would hold out on purchasing anything else, I have to admit that this unseasonably warm (80-plus degrees!) weather we have in D.C. this week has only given me an incentive to add some summer stuff to my makeup stash.  I silently swore to my husband that no more little boxes from Sephora would come to our home either.  How to get around that without exactly breaking a promise?  I actually went to the store instead.  I was looking for a summer foundation, preferably a powder.  I ended up purchasing the following:

  • Boscia Blotting Linens (w/green tea)
  • NARS Powder Foundation SPP 12 (New Orleans shade)
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara
  • Caudelie Vinosource Quenching Sorbet-Creme

I also stopped by the MAC store and purchased the large angled contour brush (#168).  I thought I was going to have to purchase a Deep-Pore Cleansing replacement brush for the Clarisonic Mia.  Evidently, I outsmarted myself because I discovered I had another one in the makeup bag where I keep my Mia along with some other skincare products.  So I'm all set at least for another 2-3 months! [crossing fingers]

Re: Post your recent hauls!

No more little boxes?  Sounds like it's time for a big box from Sephora!

(I've managed to order my last two boxes so that they came in on days that I wasn't working.  No need for my parents to know that I've been buying MORE makeup!)
