Any time my long hair starts to get knotted easily I know it's time for a trim. I also recommend always using conditioner when you shampoo, I use Dove it works well. Brush your hair at night before bed and before and after you shower. Shine sprays and serums help a little, so does loreal kids detangler, it make our hair feel strong and helps the knots slip through wet hair.
Hi, makeuppiggy. If you mean that your hair is hard to comb out when it's wet when you get out of the shower, then I would suggest keeping a wide-toothed comb in the shower and while you have conditioner on your hair, go ahead and run the comb through and it will detangle like magic.
However, there are also products such as Bumble and Bumble's Let It Shine Conditioner which work well, too. The Let It Shine Conditioner is a sunflower-infused conditioner that's light yet thoroughly moisturizing. It refines texture, releases tangles, and sorts strands to let them catch the light. This conditioner is excellent for all hair types and compatible with color-treated hair. You can find it here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P28
Hope this helps and have a great day!
I have the same issue!! This started when I first got a perm after that my hair was a knotted mess after showering. I have had a few treatments since then and now it's just a lost cause.
Here is what works for me after washing my hair.
1. shampoo your hair
2. use conditioner and concentrate on the ends, put it up in a clip and continue your shower. wait about 5 minutes
3. take a wide tooth comb and comb out the conditioner as the shower runs.
4. after shower, towel dry your hair lightly. blot your hair, don't be rough at all. put your hair up in a clip.(this isn't necessary, I just do this so not wet hair is dripping down on me as I blot my body)
5.after take a detangler spray ( Infusium leave in conditioner, Garnier detangler spray- are both good ones that are very cheap $7-10 and they last a few months, non greasy, non sticky). spritz it in your hair and use the comb again to comb out your hair. You should do this when your hair is dry to avoid breakage, if so then spray it in when it's wet, and then comb it out when it's dry so that way the spray has time to set and detangle.
I brush my hair once when waking up, once while styling, and then once at night before I sleep. I never use any other products in my hair other than a heat protectant spray, I refuse to use hairspray or gel or mousse. However my hair gets tangles in it during the day, I would love to comb them out but I am scared of losing hair this way so I just deal with it.
However my above method should get a majority of your tangles out
Brush your hair reaaaally gently starting from the tips and work your way up until you reach the crown of your head and you can pass the brush through without it getting stuck. Maybe comb it in the shower while you have conditioner on, it's so easy to detangle that way. If you want you can get this product called Pro Natural’s that prevents split ends (which usually happen with tangled hair) and makes hair soft and healthy, its online and it's argan oil but it's not greasy at all and you just use some after a shower.
to all that posted i want to say "thank you" - i am so tender headed, my stylist loves doing my foils or anything to my hair for that matter, but i tip her 25% for putting up with me - my hair tangles and gets little knots if i do not keep it pulled up or back - your posts of products and the Dry Bar brush have changed my life! No kidding, this has been such an issue for me and all of you solved this major pain for me - again, thank you so much!
