Am I the only one who has hair on the side of my face?

I haven't really noticed until I started makeup but I have hair that's about the length of my full grown (if I let them grow) on the sides of my face and it makes my skin look darker than it is..

also whenever I pluck them, I get black heads or white heads as a result.

does this mean my skin is weird?

should I wax them?

When I search google for facial waxing, only upper lip situations come up..

I do too. :-/ Mine is pretty fine, but b/c my natural hair color is black, it looks noticeable, at least to my eyes! I prefer threading b/c my skin is kind of sensitive to waxing, so I go for full-face threading once a month, and tweeze on my own in the between time.

I should really look into threading

I only got it done once for my eyebrows and remembered liking it and is reading here about it being more gentler than waxing

thank you so much :smileyhappy:

I love threading so much more! You don't have to worry about the heat like you do with waxing, and it's definitely more gentle (keyword "more" -- by comparison. I still cry occasionally, and I'm pretty sure the lady who does me at the salon thinks I'm a complete wimp, lol) since the pulling is happening just wear the hair is, as opposed to the entire surface of your skin.

Haha, I don't usually tell people this because they think I'm nuts, but I shave my face. I use both those little single blade face razors from the drugstore as well as a man-style gillette. About every three days or so I go over my cheeks and upper lip with the gillette and once every two weeks or so I go over everything with the smaller single blade razor.

No, I don't get stubble. It grows back just as fine as it started out. If you have naturally thick hair though, I wouldn't recommend shaving as it could be stubbly. I have super fine hair everywhere (which is nice when it comes to my face), but I personally find that makeup goes on so much better without all the peach fuzz.

Plus it's a nice exfoliation :smileyhappy:

Thank you

I was watching a beauty show with a dermatologist talking and got a mixed idea about shaving.. she didn't really "give a definite" answer..

someone else recommended the eyebrow razer on this thread so I'll start with that, see how the skin/hair react and maybe move on to the full sized one!

Re: Am I the only one who has hair on the side of my face?

I pluck the few dark hairs I have on my chin & then use those tiny bikini/eyebrow shaper razors on my face. I go in the direction of hair growth and haven't had any irritation or "growing back like a beard". I think a lot of that is myth, and partially based on genetics. I only need to "shave" my face once a week, but I make sure I don't exfoliate or use toner the day of.

I tried waxing (before I used retinol products) and they always broke me out, same with threading. I think it's due to my pores being so exposed, not sure. Creams would feel like they were burning my face- even the gentle olay one. :smileysad: So I stick to "shaving" and I haven't had any complaints.

Thank you so much for your suggestions

I didn't know other people had to take care of their supposedly peach fuzzes too :smileysad:

I'll try the razors

I shape my eyebrows with tweezers and eyebrow scissors so I never bought one

Where do you find these and what brand?

I get mine at Target, CVS has them too. Ardell has a 3 pack that they usually have right next to their false lashes. So check wherever tweezers and lashes are.

I'm sure you can find others on amazon too.

I do, too! It's so awkward! I get whitehead when plucking hair on the chin, and lady stache is the reason I hate taking lip pics. And it's kind of embarassing to say, but I don't contour cuz my face is already kind of contoured, partially due to my cheekbone and partially due to my heavier fuzz on the sides. T.T

Its super annoying! I don't get anything from plucking hair on the chin, but I get these weird white headish breakouts or blackheads on the sides of my face :smileysad: I'm wondering it Tria would work.. but then I have to shave it and I would never want it to grow back thicker and darker as a result of shaving..

I totally understand this - I've considered getting mine done lately. If you know of a decent spa in your area they will probably do it. It's usually listed as "full face" or "cheeks" under the waxing menu. It definitely gets darker as you get older :smileysad:

Thank you so much

I didn't know it gets darker :smileysad:

I should probably get waxing or threading a few times and move on to laser :smileysad: it makes such a big difference T_T

I use at home wax strips for the side of my face. They're the kind that has wax between two strips of paper and you heat them up with friction from rubbing your hands together, and peel em apart to reveal the wax surface. They work great for me because it's so easy. You're not alone!

Re: Am I the only one who has hair on the side of my face?

I have no knowledge about waxes so I never heard about them!

Which one do you use?

I never thought I would be waxing my face.. but I think with beauty, once you start with one thing, its never ending..

Sorry I didn't see your question.  There are a couple brands but if you look up Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit For Face, Eyebrows & Bikini Area, they're like that. I think Nair also has some, and I know Bliss has some called Poetic Waxing wax strips for face.  So true, it's a slippery slope. :smileywink:

Thank you so much :smileyhappy:

I go to school in Canada and the last time I was looking for bleach (for eyebrows), they didn't have Sally Hansen's... so I'll start with either or bliss and see how it turns out :smileyhappy:
